For those looking for a good brand with one or more of those ingredients that's accessible and not too expensive try OGX. My favorite is the Moroccan Argan Oil because my hair just seems to love Argan oil period but I believe those two ingredients are base ingredients because I have multiple versions and they're in all of them

Michelle, is it true that adding more water helps conditioners work better on curly hair? Also, I know Heleen has posts on there being no such thing as “hydrated hair,” but curly hair stylists disagree. What is your opinion?
@LabMuffinBeautyScience6 ай бұрын
I think the anti-water thing is really unwarranted - too much and too little water both aren't ideal, I think it's more accurate to think of water as a useful tool for looking after hair

Oh! What’s the difference between specialized silicones and regular silicones? On a lot of hair products, it’s usually a selling point to say, “Free of Silicones!”. So are silicones good in some instances? Sorry, I’m new to the whole hair care scene😳🫣
@ALT-vz3jn9 ай бұрын
Silicones are the best for hair; especially if it’s coarse, thick, or damaged by heat and/or coloring/bleaching. If you have virgin hair that isn’t too long and already naturally shiny then you can get away with not using silicones.

I keep seeing shorts from the hair oiling girlies and I hate it. Their hair care routines are insane and make my hair fall out whenever I try them. Idk how they have any hair left. Rosemary oil, 30 min scalp massage, shampoo twice, condition root to end and hair mask . Please tell me this didn’t good advice so I don’t have to feel bad it doesn’t work for me.
@missNCW9 ай бұрын
Hair oiling is good for before washing to protect the hair from the damage of water. Your routine sounds good, except the conditioner on the roots is not necessary. Can use a bit if you want, but maybe try only using on the lengths and ends. Then only use shampoo on the scalp, not the lengths at all. It will wash down when you you rinse your scalp. Try it if you haven’t already
@morighani9 ай бұрын
their hair care is insane, so much time consuming. 30 min scalp massage is excessive and you should switch the hair mask for a good leave in conditioner which protects hair much better after showering. Hair mask should be used sparingly after a clarifying wash or if you’re going to chlorinated pools etc.. i would advise against oiling because it doesn’t make much sense to oil an already oily scalp just to try to scrub it all off in the shower? but i know the girlies love it so what do I know…. but please oil your ends after the shower!!! it’s the only thing that will protect them.
@Bpopclover9 ай бұрын
I don't understand the people who oil their scalps. Scalp is actually skin and skin does produce its own oils, it will change from person to person but it's the same as applying rosemary oil on your back or your leg and massage it for 30 minutes. The hair is the one that isn't alive and doesn't produce it's own oils, so that's the one that needs it. I do oil my hair but never the scalp, just thinking about it I feel itching.
@ALT-vz3jn9 ай бұрын
They’re found another way to push product is all. Most oils are bad to use on hair all the time, you’re much better off using silicones. Oils are extremely bad for the scalp, as malassezia fungus feeds off of oils. I remember this chick in a haircare group posting a pic of her ‘beautiful long hair’ and saying she was oiling it every day with coconut oil. Everyone commented that her hair looked super damaged, and to stop oiling it asap 💀

@LabMuffinBeautyScience9 ай бұрын
Might be because your hair is denser inside and has an intact cuticle - can't do much to change that except to damage it (e.g. bleach or dye), or use higher heat. It's common with Asian hair, including mine (pre-bleach).
