Wow! The ending of Babylon reminded me of our introduction to the Starchild at the end of 2001 A Space Odyssey and Cinema Paradiso combined! A really really stunning film. This is a must-see for film lovers! It is also one of the most perfectly titled films I've seen in a long time! It's not for everyone but then again neither is caviar!

Babylon is my all time favorite movies. I have seen it three times in theaters and picked up on something new to love every single time. It’s so beautiful!

He HAS to direct a horror movie. That sequence towards the end of the movie with Tobey's character was one of the most unsettling and disturbing things in a movie I've seen.

Babylon has been my most anticipated movie of the year ever since the cast was announced. Unfortunately, in the Philippines I don’t think it’s screening till Feb.1 which bums me out so so much as I’ve been anticipating this film so much and Chazelle being one of my favorites and Brad Pitt being my favorite actor of all time it just kills that it’s gonna take that long. With that said, when I saw rotten tomato reviews I tried to ignore it as much as possible and waiting for the reviews of the reelblend boys and the fact that all 4 of you love it is the only reviews i need to hear that keeps me excited for this film. Loved the patron saint Damian interview on the show and can’t wait to see it. Babylon!

In terms of big studio auteurs you got Spielberg, Cameron,and Scorsese. And then Tarantino, Nolan, Villeneuve are the Gen X versions. And then you got Peele, Damien Chazelle, and now Eggers (after The Northman) as the new gen.

It’s hard to correlate generations of directors. Tarantino blew up in the early 90’s while Villenueve started getting recognition in the late 2000’s so it’s hard to put them in the same generation even though I assume they’re similar in age.

A fast paced gut wrenching wild cinematic love letter filmed to intoxicate you on the glamor of Hollywood hay day and the grit behind the glitz that chews actors up and tosses them away. The danger of fame, ego, vanity, etc l. Be it the sacrifices it costs or the blind bliss to the short time to make it in a industry where the people with power to make you only care if you’re making them… money. This is art. Almost 3 hrs, 3 wildly different acts. Following 4 people entering the film industry at its birth in Hollywoodland with silent film and carying them like a tornado of meat grinders to the time of “ talkies” . Each getting worn down and chewed up at their own paces.Some sacrificing everything , some working there way to the very top from the very bottom, some fueled by vanity and ignorance with care free disregard to the far future. All being beaten by the Hollywood machine, because in gambling the house always wins. Same director as LaLa Land. Sit down , get comfortable, and buckle up for a long ride full of great performances and cameos in this wild cocaine fueled period piece. Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, and Diego Calva have quite the take to tell.

This guy is so clueless. I cant believe he would show a 3 yr old a person falling off a roof! As far as Babylon is concerned - my favorite period- the hair and make up in the trailers are so wrong in terms of the period ( Margot Robbie looks like shes in the 70’s Studio 54!) How could the costume designer Mary Zophres do any research and come up with this “ Bianca Jagger”look of a Halston red dress and long blond hair? unless the director wanted it to look like this ? Poor Mary.

She said they wanted to do unexpected pools from the time period. The dress she wore is from a photo of the time. It’s just not as expected
