It was Rob Schrab's birthday. Rob asked Dan to record a video to show before Rob gives a talk to some art students. Dan really wanted to do a good job, and wasn't afraid to keep trying until he got it right.

the fact that he stops the rap to do a verbal version, fucks it up and immediately goes back to rapping has me in tears

Its one of my favorite parts, I love jeffs laughs too. My absolute favorite part was the handle of the mop rhyme with the shame on his face and acceptance of messing up, and spencer cracking up in the background!

The editing makes this look like there are breaks in between, but what you're seeing pretty much happened in real time as you see it here.

i've been listening to every single episode of harmontown back to back, and its taken a few weeks. i'm at ep 241 now. Its a trip to see everything change over so many years and to see how dan changes. you probably don't notice the change in dan because it took 241 weeks (give or take) for any change to happen.

He's a bit more mature with how he approaches relationships. not to be a dick, but his relationship with Cody is about 1000 times more healthy than his one with Erin. I also think he hates himself a bit less, and he has been actively applying things he learns in therapy when it comes to dealing with other people. He does completely and absolutely lose his mind when Trump got elected though. Listening to the episodes before the election were painful. Dan was absolutely terrified of what he perceived trump to be, and kept consoling himself with "trump can't win... trump can't win..." during the podcasts. He has calmed down in the later episodes, but he doesn't even begin to understand why or how trump got elected and just tries to avoid the topic for the most part.
@canalsincontenido6 жыл бұрын
I don't know how much of it is growth. Like, learning to take compliments and dealing with suits was maturing in real time, but a lot is just adapting and reacting to changes in his life. In a week you can go from listening to him mad that he got fired from maybe his only chance to make it big, dealing with it, making himself fail to get a new chance, getting his job back (with all the hubris that meant) and maybe up to a divorce if you speed it up a bit. As a listener it's really hard to keep track of how much time passes. You get tiny bits of real life filtered through alcohol, making him want to puke his feelings as much as desperately entertain anyone to get some validation. You usually end up in that situation with someone you know, getting only the weird partial retelling leaves so many gaps to fill that people keep getting mad because they were sure they knew how Dan REALLY though/behaved/felt. Harmontown should be recommended to every writer, 10% to learn from Dan and 90% to experience real life Raymond Carver. Add a 10% plus if you're into anyone in the main trio.

Eh. We as fans of Harmontown would be way into it but don’t forget a good majority of the people watching have no idea who this sweaty fat stuttery guy is, and after like 5 minutes it would get old. Maybe a supercut of all the funniest ones.
