I heard the Diff cover on a D60 measures 11 1/4” and the and the D50 is a few inches shorter across the cover.

The engine under the hood has nothing to do with what axle the truck got. My brother has a 2001 F250 with 7.3 and he has a D50. FYI, the D50 came in F250/350 SRW trucks from '99 to '01 while DRW got the D60. Then in '02-'04 SRW went D60. Also, the "cast #" for a D50 is 229 (the ring gear dia. in mm). 248 = 9.75*25.4 Yes, about the only thing consistent is all Excursions got the D50

Seems live with the big 3 mfg's and dana. They get real fluid with fleet vehicles and vans. I found a 12bolt dana rear today and cant find much info on it. It had a 248 casting on a gmc 2500 van

I have been trying to find my axel spline count...after finding the BOM tag number 606307-1 on the rear cover ..it is a Dana 60hd ..3.73..35 spline axel on a 2001 e250 Econoline ..5.4.motor.

Dana 60 has a spline count of 35, and a reverse rotation 30 spline count! Good luck!
