One detail I noticed in the MV (after watching it I don’t know how many times): When Jimin first sings “raise your hand to the old me. Now set me free”, he raises a fist and then uncurls his fingers one by one exactly and perfectly in time with the three beats of “free-ee-ee”. How can anyone focus that much attention on a single gesture associated with three beats, in the middle of everything else going on?!?

My favorite MV ever, the dance and choreo blew my mind. The intensity of the MV was there from the beginning and never let up until the end. The dancers deserve it all and Jimin does as well. Honestly, it didn't surprise me when I thought about it because that's Jimin, he's going to make it happen but those dancers put in the work for real.

The original "Set Me Free" is a song by SUGA on his second mix-tape "D-2". Jimin said they are not directly correlated, but since SUGA's deal with the feeling of being stuck and wishing to be set free, while his deals with finally BEING set free, he decided to name his "Pt 2".

Chapter 2 with BTS has thus far been a mindblowing experience as the boys branch out to explore on their own. For me there is something really satisfying about watching a reactor with a dance or singing/rapping backgroup who can view the members as artists who have honed their craft to a T.

Knew you would love this. The choreo has been next level. In the MV, when they lift him and put him down, his outfit goes from black to white. It's a cool edit. It's worth the watch the dancers go even harder. His jacket is from 604SERVICE, pretty sure it's sold out, but they have a really nice grey one( track suit fit) that's similar. Missed your reactions. I did miss you, man, I've been waiting for you to see this. I knew you'd love it. It's so freaking brilliant. The way so much of the piece is Jimin holding the eye through tension while there's all this chaos around him, and then the impact when his energy bursts to match theirs. The use of dancers to create the setting and move the story around him... It's just so damn good. There's a team, but the things making you yell are Sienna Lalau's signatures - the formation work especially. The song is related to ON and the choreography calls back to it deliberately. Sienna is brilliant and apparently fearless. I admire her choreography so much. The music video is this dance plus lighting and a couple of dramatic costume changes. It's an absolute work of art. Thanks for your reaction. I laughed through it, because I felt like you when I first saw it. And just wait until you see the music video - it has all the wonderful intensity of the rehearsal, but also aerial shots, cool lighting, etc. I'm so proud of everyone who contributed to the performances of this song. They worked so hard on it for so long. In the behind the scenes footage, Jimin talks about how the dancers worked with him day and night, and you can see a few of them would stay with him and work even longer, after the others went home, just to perfect every little detail.

The choreographer is Sienna Lalau, same one who choreographed ‘ON’ for BTS her routines are always 🔥 we found our later she was doing this at the same time she was preparing the routines for Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance.

Your perspective is always so refreshing. I also never really thought about it (as a non-dancer) but I used the phrasing "backup dancers" simply because that's always how I heard them being referred to. However you're so right that they aren't backup, they're dancers. Even if they're not the star(s), they are an integral part of the overall impact of the performance. Without them it would not be anywhere near the same performance. I'll make an effort to simply refer to them as dancers instead of backup dancers. Their value to the performance isn't any lesser. You're also so right about this song live. The textures in that staging were beautiful to watch. Particularly the performance on Mnet Countdown episode 790. Mnet is brutal though so you would likely not get away with reacting to it. You may have to find another one to check out but definitely check out the Mnet one on your own time. Your dancer heart would be so happy. Unless you have a Twitch or some other site you can post a link to here so we can see your reaction. KZfaq itself wouldn't let you get away with it. Jimin's other new song "Like Crazy" also has a fun choreography. It isn't as instense and insane as this one, but there's a vibe about it that's entralling to watch. I don't know enough to put my finger on why it's so captivating, but I love that one as well.

I've watched several reaction videos to the MV for this song, and I kept getting irritated when the reactors praised the dancers. I couldn't figure out why I felt this way because they certainly deserved praise, but after your video, I realized what was causing my irritation. It was that they were using the term "backup dancers," which is likely technically accurate, but it just feels wrong for this routine. Even with my serious lack of dance experience, I recognize that with this choreography and talented dancers, these dancers were as much the star as Jimin.

I’m excited to see the vlogs! You’re right, I did miss you (and the bros just sayin’ lol), but I just rewatch old videos ❤️ Set Me Free Pt 1 didn’t have a choreo, it’s an older song by one of the other members Suga/Agust D. Jimin appreciates his dancers so much, every time he talk about this song he mentions how hard they worked and that it turned out well because of them. Sienna Lalau choreographed this one as well. I said this on the community post, but the m/v for this would be a good one too because it focuses on the choreography for even more good camera work lol. He won’t be touring with this song, he’s already ended his promotions for his album, and he will likely be joining the military this year. He has performed this live a couple times for music shows but they will most likely get blocked. Live performances and award shows would be good ones to put on Patreon especially since you said you’d filmed some before that got blocked. A lot of people did hate on this song actually. It wasn’t what they were expecting I guess and a lot people didn’t like the auto tune he used even though I think the way he used it fits the song’s narrative. A lot of haters also didn’t think he danced enough compared to the other dancers. In this song he is talking to himself and setting himself free and this is reinforced by the visuals in the m/v because he wanted the room to look like a circular room of prison cells. I saw someone say the room reminded them of a panopticon. According to google: “As a work of architecture, the panopticon allows a watchman to observe occupants without the occupants knowing whether or not they are being watched. Although it is physically impossible for the single guard to observe all the inmates' cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched motivates them to act as though they are all being watched at all times.
