Mr Peart is always a gentleman and very gracious to other mucians. What a great project that was.

Simon is amazing. I really think the guy can play any of the most complex drum songs...because he has. His time signatures are some of the most complex as well. A real power house on the drums in ever sense of the term.

why didn't peart notice him before Pete Townsend? He was on Jeff Beck's there and back album, with powerful and amazing drumming, and was the stand out drummer, sending Ray Cooper into a temper tantrum at the ARMS concert? I guess Peart is stuck on certain styles, why wait until white city to recognize this great drummer???

Maybe Simon didn't know who Neil was until Moving Pictures was released. Goes both ways, and why does it matter?

@@321gates because he did a lot of outstanding work with various artists long before his work with Pete Townsend. But it doesn't matter now as I wrote that 2 years ago and Peart has passed so let him RIP.

@@kingbee48185You're kinda missing my point that's ok.

@@321gates come on. Any serious drummer in the music world has heard of Rush and Neil Peart from the mid 70s. It was Neil who learned to appreciate Phillips. But Neil is gone and I loved his playing, so just chalk it up to 2 great players that had mutual admiration for each other. 2 different styles. I am surprised neither included Carl Palmer, who could and still at least match them.

Each of them has their own take on the tune. I like them both.

They different drummers that play the same song different ways. They both did great playing this song. Personally, I like the Simon Phillips version more. But, that is kind of a biased statement because I’m a big SP fan.
