Dancyville is a little town just off Interstate 40 in West Tennessee. I wrote this tune while on a road trip to Memphis while listening to John Prine on the car radio. Here are the lyrics:

Broke and out of gas
I pulled my Martin from the back
And we headed up the railroad tracks
We walked side by side toward a neon sign
That said Kelly's Bar & Grill
Where we sang for our supper in the town of Dancyville
She sang Paradise
With a voice like diamonds
And eyes that danced like fire
Although I knew the song I couldn't sing along
There was just too much to feel
And the people came to listen in the town of Dancyville
Back out on the road
I headed west down I-40
Never felt so all alone
Now I spend my nights beneath Beale Street lights
Thinking of the girl that's still
