The tactics genre has officially entered mainstream. There's a tactics version of half the franchises now 😂

I love the Danganronpa universe! I hope the story is good if nothing else.

What will probably happen is that you will decide who gets to die in cutscenes. It is the only way to ensure Tactics can keep the over the top deaths the series is known for.

I wonder if you can give Steam World Heist a try, especially since a sequel is on the way. It has its own unique spin that makes it special with the manual aiming of attacks.

So, im hoping for character death its something like Trillion or Mass Effect, where you can pick who does a risky mission or is the point person, and not acing the mission means they die, or just deciding who has to die. Also, the hundred endings could be based on who survives to the end. If each character contributed to the ending, just ten or so would easily get you to 100 different endings. Wether you do cover it or not, am super glad you brought it up, as i missed it, but as a huge Dangan and huge tactics fan, this is going straight on my wishlist.

Hard to tell if this'll be worthwhile or not. The voltage meter and action point mechanics seem fine--but I'm concerned by the fact that we see no difference in terrain types (or even the use of chokepoints) in the few battles shown.

As someone who never cared for Danganronpa, or felt the series needed anything more after that divisive finale (that from what I know ended the purpose of the original story…) Yeah, this looks pretty neat, NGL. The fact there’s so many Tactics/Strategy games in every other franchise is a weird state of reality to live in, as I never dared to dream this was possible. Although the number of devs who run out of funds to make them, while it gives us complete packages like (presumably) this or UO, also means poor “Crimson Tactics” could not finish its intended story (and we know how bad the backlash was there - undeserved yes, but I also can’t fault people who felt burned by the end product). Fingers crossed this train keeps chugging, eh?

I'm actually kinda interested in this game. The Danganronpa Anime wasn't bad so I'm already a fan of the series and art style.

Thanks for the deep dive! I wasn't too impressed from watching the trailer on my own (even though I love Danganronpa), but you pointing out all of those details make me think there might be some actual depth to the tactics gameplay. Here's hoping!

Also doesn't do anything on a style direction for me. But maybe the gameplay has some interesting ideas. Definitely worth to check it for a bit I think.

I love Spike Chunsoft games so I'm super looking forward to this! I'm surprised you haven't made any videos on Expedition 33 though. Any interest in covering that at all?

"Danganronpa Tactics" please!!! we can only get so based!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway Danganronpa is unironically one of my favorite series of all time, Rain Code was also great, and I love tactical RPGs. this is probably a day 1-ish buy for me.

I've seen the dangonropa anime and never played the games. From what i understand its a"scenario" game that can play differently depending on the pov character. I know the original games involved solving murder mysteries

I have a very hard time getting into games that go hard into the anime aesthetic so games like Disgaea are a hard pass for me. When I saw the Dangaronpa style, I immediately hit ignore on Steam without really even looking into the game. Now having watched this video I'm FAR more willing to give it a chance. Gonna wait to see how the reviews turn out. Thank you for changing my mind.
