Hey Wade, you did a great video. I learned about you from Nuts319, I happen to be Lauryns dad. I met nuts through stumpjumper who was a childhood friend of mine back in Rhode Island. I like to say I took her hunting and gained a new hunting partner with Pete. Lauryn only knew Pete for a couple of weeks when she had this feeling about him and up and moved herself 560 miles from home. I'm glad she did because everything I see from Pete is class. The way he loves and treats Lauryn, is exactly what any man a live would want for his little girl. The more I get to know Pete the more he grows on me. He is compassionate about everything he cares about whether that's Lauryn, logging, his family, community etc. Pete is one giving dude and for us it's contagious, I love the way his community cares for each other, it's awesome to see. Lauryn tells us what awesome people you and your family are and how you opened your arms to Pete and her long before this accident, I look forward to meeting you some day and shaking your hand. Very Good Video Wade, all the way around. I’ll be honest Pete’s accident has really made me think. Actually shook me up a bit. I’m just a firewood guy, no where near the skills and experience guys like you and Pete have. I got to thinking if it can happen to a guy like Pete it can happen to anyone especially a guy like me. I have learned to slow down and focus more. I was out cutting wood the other day and when I finished up I wanted to take down a couple red oak that the oak wilt got. I marched over there fired up the saw and was ready to lay them down. I checked them all out, hazards everywhere, dead limbs, lean, crowded with other trees and more. I shut the saw off, and went to the house lol. Said today is not the day. The next day I went back out, focused, relaxed, and came up with a good plan and got them on the ground.

I bought 68 acres of land that was zoned conservation and hadn’t been cut in many years. The forest is full of dead and dangerous trees. It’s a shame all those resources have been wasted, and trying to clean up the bush is incredibly dangerous. I agreed 100 percent with you tater. Managed forests are just a crop like wheat or corn. Doesn’t everyone like toilet paper. 😅😅😅

im 61 i grew up in a logging sawmilling family,i got cut on my left hand in 1981 with a 850 mcculloch! we were 2 miles from the state rd. timber cutting is very dangerous! i got several buddys in the grave ,they were killed because they dropped their guard a split second. yall be safe listen to wade! prayers to nuts 319!!! god bless you all!

I’m a logger in southern Missouri I watch your videos all the time. I’m a 5th generation logger hand cutter. Logging is a tuff life and takes a certain type of man to do the job.

Well spoken! In the fire service they had a saying that was drilled into our minds repeatedly. "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. " The most important thing at the end of the day is going home! Be safe all!

So true, this applies to everything. Go out on the farm mad and it will only get u in trouble. I've called it quits for a day because everything was breaking and I turned a tractor downhill on a steep hill and forgot I was only in 2wd. I had no choice but to take the ride to the bottom. Now I run 4wd about all the time.

My dad was the best saw man I've ever seen and he always told me always expect the unexpected. He worked in the woods and eventually retired from the Louisiana Department of agriculture and forestry. Lost his oldest brother at a young age to a logging accident. Prayers for Pete

I think your comparison to cutting being like a drug is about as spot on as it gets! I’m not even close to a professional logger but cutting trees and producing firewood is something that seems to get into your blood and I say it’s my therapy. I go out and unravel the puzzle of how to get the tree down where I want it to go then figure out how to get it cleaned up in processing it. Like everyone I’ve taken a few hits. Anyone that claims to have never taken some sort of hit really is just not out doing. Love to all! Take care of yourself and God bless!

Thanks Wade for this it shows the dangers of the industry even the rotten trees and saw dust is used for biofuels for power stations and for home log burners.

I find it funny people get upset about cutting trees down not realizing it took trees to build the house they live in. And im with you on the loggers deserve alot more respect than they get.

I have been watching ever since 19 tree domino. This by far is your best video. I cant explain to my family how it feels to cut timber. I have had higher paying jobs driving truck working in office but here i am 55 years old and cutting timber.

I've cut timber off and on for several years. Most of the time, like Nutsy , I work by myself. I'm older now, and never been able to get around in the woods like a cutter should be able to, so I've really had to teach myself to slow down. I've got to think, or try to think of everything that might happen, because, unlike Wade, I'm not like a gray squirrel, dodging and jumping everything in my way. But boy, I've had some pretty close calls. Very dangerous job. I'm going to have to admit, when I heard that Pete got hurt, it shook me a little. I've had friends and even co-workers at times to get hurt or even killed, but Pete, he is a dang good cutter, I could tell that by watching. That's what shook me, he was good and young and could get around well. I know my time is coming, but just can't quit. Like Wade said, its very addicting and you compete with the woods everyday.. Hang in there Nuts, and get well soon!!

You really could be a spokesperson for all involved in forestry products. I don’t make a living in the woods but I see the need for the work you do. I have used your words to explain to people the need to keep working the woods responsibly.

Nice Video Wade. I'm 54, been cutting trees here in Australia since I was 16 years old and really my opinion is, provided you take your time, keep control of the tree and where it is falling, watch out for hazards and run clear once the tree leaves the stump, it is more dangerous driving too and from work then what it is timber cutting, as you have no control over other idiots on the road but you do have and can tell what a tree will do, once you have learnt the safe way to work in the woods.

Lots of great advice wade. Pete is a great guy an great cutter. He's a good teacher for cutting He's taught me alot by just watching him along with too for just cutting firewood in the timber. The best one you an pete taught me was the triple hing.

I've always loved your approach, attitude.... towards your business. We could learn so much from it but, it seems like the extremes on either side always get the spotlight. We need to protect and preserve the environment but, we can't be so extreme about it that we suffer. In order for the world to work the best it can for the most people it can, we have to have compromise. It's not the dirty word it has been made out to be and something we seem to have lost sight of over the past several years. Thanks Wade. Take care.

My dad lost his leg in front of me in a logging accident. Things happen in a split second no matter how cautious you are. I took over the business and he drives log truck for me. His faith and drive to get back to working was my inspiration. Love you dad!

Wade every job in the woods can be or is hazardous! Cutting timber is scary but a rush like no other! But burning is fun too! My father was a scaler . And he had is injuries too! But thier isn't nothing like the job in the world! I pray for nuts and his family. And I sure wish more folks wear thier chaps while operating a saw. I learned cutting into your body isn't fun!

This also hits home for me, been doing tree work for 16 years and just had my most serious work related injury to date, really did a number on my bicep. Hoping to avoid surgery. Great job. I've been cutting timber since I was 18, I'm 56 now and I've had 5 bad accidents myself. Two of them was just like you said, I had other things on my mind and the other three was Murphy's Law. I work mostly in the mountains of North Carolina and I have personal worked with three men that has got killed cutting timber and I had met five other men that has been killed cutting timber and I knew five more that has gotten killed logging,from machine roll overs and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I also know around a dozen more that has gotten injured so bad that they couldn't continue in logging, but like you said it's in your blood. I tell men that when I do die they'll have to pry a chainsaw out of my cold dead hands. My grandfather was 82 when he got killed logging and I hope I make it as far as he did. I could go on for hours but that's my two cents worth. Keep your head and feet planted and be CAREFUL. LATER TATERE

I'm out of the running saw or equipment game. Worked with my cousins in their firewood business. Have had my share of close calls whether it be dropping big old Rock Maple trees or driving their old cable skidder and the cable or part horribly breaks. Logging in any form will be a dangerous trade. Hope Nuts319 and his family get through this time.

I’m just a firewood farmer, but another thing I would add is being intentional. I was out marking trees, not even planning on felling anything… I got clobbered when the top broke out of a nearby tree, tethered to the one I was dropping. I didn’t escape quickly enough and bang. Fortunately for me it was small enough to give me a headache and a wake-up call. I wasn’t on task and got a lesson from it. I knew better, but in a ADHD (Attention Deficit, High Definition😉) moment, I saw the squirrel and I was off task! Bless’ns to you and the family, Tedd

Hi because anyone can go and buy a saw from a store and go cutting, people look and think well that’s easy, you cut it falls easy ! ! It is working out how you get it to fall where you want it to fall, how you stop it hitting what you don’t want it or have to stop it hitting, that’s the know how ( that you can’t buy you have to learn ) and that takes time, and then you still have to expect and be ready for the unexpected 🙃 all the best 👍🐝🌞

Perfect example of that is the northern panhandle in West Virginia nothing but scrub trees that are 2/3 dead but the tree huggers wont let the land be properly managed.

I am not a logger, but i do enjoy cutting trees. I have a few mishaps, and fortunately, nothing serious. One must keep their mind on the task at hand and their head on a swivel when falling trees.

One thing that should never happen in the woods is "being routine". Every single tree has it's own quirks. When things get routine, you are missing something and not paying enough attention. If your mind is wandering away from that cut even for a second, you are in extreme danger. They call it Murphy's law but really it is usually distraction. Good talk Wade. You can think about all those other things when the chain is out of the tree, but once that chain bites wood you better be focused.

Wade, I found your channel because of your helmet cam vids. I found Pete's the same way. Also, Ol Skool Logging. I'm a lame, but recognize those who are skilled. Edit: I am not a landowner, Im a land steward. Those woods will be there long after im gone.
