ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Great lesson Danny, really simple. Hitting my driver super atm and this just reinforces exactly what I’m doing right. Sometimes when we play well, it helps to know exactly why. How many times I’ve heard people say that they wish they knew what they were doing right when they had a good round.

I’ve been fighting a massive slice since I took up golf again a year ago. Had numerous lessons and even splashed out £500 for the Ping anti slice driver, nothing worked , forever in the bushes on the right and a good straight one was about 210 yards. Saw this video a few days ago and gave it a go, WOW! First few went left, small adjustment and bang down the middle on the range, played a couple of rounds and I’m mashing it, drove pin high on a 317yd hole (fairway being frozen helped) and averaging more than 250 and straight. It sends my irons left so will work on that but Thanks… you made a despondent golfer very happy😊

Great to see you correct someone who is slicing (like me) and is a lefty like I am. I say this because watching you work with someone who needs to correct a swing or how they hold a club is more informative than having instructions on what to do. Seeing growth from instruction provides the incentive to work on it. Thank you for a great video, now a lot of practice changing the circle that causes me to go across the ball.

I feel like I owe you something for this lesson! I’ve always struggled with snap hooking off the tee or pulling it left completely. Found this video, got a bucket at the range, took my time and worked the steering wheel, and wow. Effortless launch and very tight dispersion with almost the entire bucket! I never realized how my angle of attack with the driver was so off, which I guess explains why I’ve always been better with my irons and approach shots. Thank you sir!

Just wanted to comment to say this is an absolute game changer! I've been struggling with a slice on my Driver, like Tom had (although I'm right handed) and tried so many things. The "turning of the steering wheel" initially felt a bit alien, as did the lead hip slightly pointing forwards, but my word the results cannot be denied! I've been to the range twice since watching this and my shots dont have that horrible outward spin on them anymore. Something else I found helpful tacking onto this, is making sure the hip transition fires through the shot at the right time. Power is generated through the legs a lot here, so when I make sure my hips fire through, the shot is straighter than I've ever hit. Thanks for the Video Danny, it's worked wonders!!

Tried this today on 4 or 5 holes, it was unbelievably effective. I aimed my shoulders/swing plane in the direction I wanted the ball to shape (away from danger). I hit every shot how I wanted and even mishits had narrow dispersion. Pared the last 3 holes easily. Great for controlling ball shaping and increased commitment to the shot.

very interesting technique going to try it next time im on the range. want to see if its more effective than what i have been currently focusing on which is having my head stay behind the ball through impact. its extremely effective with irons increases ball speed, no slices just occasional pushes but sometimes early in the road i dont do it correctly with my driver and get a bad slice. i can also do it when trying to hit a draw that leads to low hooks if i close club face and mishits on left aim shots that are hit on heel that slice hard back straight with a lot of spin. i noticed when turning the wheel the club faces opens but seems to get back square during the downsing while i took a practice swing so in theory it should work. the reverse was true when turning the wheel the opposite way which makes sense why simple closing club face cant correct slice.

Great lesson Danny. I don’t know why this really made sense to me, but it made me less likely to come over the top and I’m hitting a baby fade most of the time now. Thanks.

This vid was a week too late for me. A few of my drives were ideal, baby fades and draws where required ; the majority of my shots with the driver were just like the opening shots- massive fades or blocked out. Every time on the tee, I felt I was setting up the same but the outcome was varied and unpredictable. I now have a new routine to try out- fingers crossed for a more predictable and repetitive tee shot. Thank you Mr. M, keep up the great advice and content.

I’m 49, and only 14 rounds into this great game. I was doing this steering wheel at the range and it’s straightened me up, and created distance… longest is 284m thus far. My issue then becomes mental on the first tee… On Friday, I was smoking drives at the range before my round… and then stood on the first, and lollypopped it into the drink 45° to my right. Confidence destroying. The rest of the round was a mix of army drives, and beautifully timed 260m straight shots… It’s an infinitely more enjoyable game taking my second shot in from the fairway, than chipping out or having to dodge trees… I’m a work-in-progress, I guess.

Great video Danny. Just one question, when you 'turn the steering wheel' to change to an in to out path, do you change the grip on the club so it's in a more closed position or just leave the club face so it's more slightly open?

I tried this move today (Tuesday 19/12/23 at my home course in South West France) and hit 14 fairways plus a long par 3 green set to 180 yds. My regular playing partner who always drives longer then I do was severely disappointed to find that he had only one longer drive. Carry distance has only slightly improved, but the lower flight I'm getting added another 15 to 20 yds of run. But what was truly stunning was the almost straight flight and a regular repeatable direction. Right to the 18th I was waiting for my drives to go pear shaped. But the more fairways I hit the more optimistic, and therefore relaxed I became. I am gob-smacked that such a simple, easily repeated move can make so much difference. It was only a round of 94 (one over net-par for me) but in freezing damp winter conditions it was the first time in months that I broke 100. Many thanks for this video.

So the day after my great reveal I came down with severe lead knee pain. I already suffer from arthritis in the leading knee but I estimate that my open shoulder alignment was developed to protect the lead knee. With better alignment following this video I put more weight on the lead knee in the follow through. So now I have better alignment but this morning I was protecting my knee. This produced a 20 to 30 yard draw (amazing to see when I have sliced everything all my life). So in two rounds I have gone from 20 to 30 yards right to 20 - 30 yards left. For me this short experience has really demonstrated the validity of Danny's disk/steering wheel concept and just what are the variables are (clubface alignment, grip, shoulder alignment and weight transfer) that I can now adjust to get back to me super driving day of 19/12/23.

Another gem to take to the driving range. Is it natural when you sort of lean backwards like that to feel like your going to take a chunk out of the grass before hitting your ball? Its what makes me tend to stand up straighter. Does this same lesson apply, to a lesser degree when teeing off with you 3w or 5w?

Danny this exactly what I was doing. This drill has put my drives back on track. Thank you so much. I've been trying to do the same thing on my irons but it's not having quite the same impact. I've ended up chunking quite a few of them. I feel like when I turn the wheel to the right I may be moving further back from the ball causing the chunks. Any advice on that would be great. Love your content, keep it up!

Hi Danny, a good lesson for me as I do tend to go left right left! What interested me though is at 1.07 in the video the grip shown by the pupil does not seem to be one to be encouraged. He certainly could hit it though😂

I have a very rare talent to listen to my swing coach in the moment and still slice it. My swing path is consistent and straight, I even line up toe side, I close my club face and I still slice. I wish this worked for me.

Hey Danny. So after this, if your angle of attack is still slightly down, could you move the position of the ball from inside the heel to middle of your toes? Or is that just crazy to try? Thanks for the great vid and lesson 👍🏼
@DanielMaude

You certainly could, just remember that you club path will be slightly more left at impact potentially creating more left to right curvature
