Worlds #1 Coach why starting with your right arm in the correct position will feel like cheating in your golf swing. In this golf video Danny Maude teams up with Pete Cowen to reveal why getting the right arm in the correct starting position with driver and irons the golf swing just feels easy.
When you get the right arm in the correct position it helps you get a perfect backswing. In fact once you have locked the right arm in place Danny shows you exactly how to move the right arm perfectly with his signature dumbbell move.
But the golf lesson wouldn't be complete without knowing how to move it in the downswing. Danny Maude has you covered. There is no room for loads of complicated swing thoughts in the golf swing so you need something super simple.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

As always, thank you Danny, for creating and sharing all this amazing content. Especially for the latest Pete Cowen series. For me, introducing the splattering paint brush visual is a total game changer. This (combined with the tucked in elbow) is THE killer swing thought. It feels like the thousand pieces of the giant swing puzzle are finally falling into place naturally and effortlessly. The ball compression is just insane, so compact and huge. I still can't believe what happened on the range today. So again, thank you so much, Danny, your support is priceless.

@DanielMaude this is an amazing lesson. I've been struggling with my swing lately, and especially with my driver. I worked on this at home for about an hour, then at the range. Feeling super efficient, and a lot of speed. CH speed was around 112/114 the past few weeks, but went up from there after watching this. The arms coming down to the ground on the way down, is SO efficient. It feels easy, and smooth, but there is a lot of speed. Very efficient. Respect.

Cracking drills to get the right side adding speed. More interpretation of the Cowen wisdom that handicap golfers can use. What distinguishes this content is its consistency and coherence. Using the driver without inhibition has been the key to my levels of enjoyment massively increasing - in a seniors match yesterday my opponent asked me how often I was going to the gym 😂. Scores have been better too. Massive thanks Danny.

Hi Danny. Once again a great lesson. I watched this video umpteen times. Going back and forward to my garden practicing this. Once I’d locked it in I went down to my club and hit my driver for the very 1st time dead straight. Only 180 yards at the moment as I’m building up the speed trying to maintain the swing.I did have a very bad slice but thanks to you it’s gone completely. Hopefully soon I will be hitting it 240 yards in a straight line. I’m 59 years old and been playing since January this year. Ur lessons have proved invaluable to me. You’ve taught me how to chip. How to compress a ball. How to get out of a bunker. I’ve learnt every aspect of the game from you and consequently I’m really enjoying Golf. I now have a 26 handicap at my club. 6 months ago I would probably been a 42 handicap. I played with some experienced players recently who all play off single figure handicaps. They were very surprised I’d only been playing for a short time. I told them it was all down to you and KZfaq. They were flabbergasted.

After watching your training session with coach Cowen, I really appreciated your humility and willingness to “fail” with some of the instruction. As you know, students rarely get to see instructors struggle, and that was refreshing, vs only seeing you execute perfectly. However, what’s most impressive, and makes you one of the best, is your ability to take what Cowen said and simplify it for the average golfer. I’m not afraid to admit I watched that video 3 times and couldn’t grasp his “turning your forearm down”, but you changing it to painting and splashing the brush was flipping genius, and I can’t thank you enough, Danny!

I tried to practice this with my driver just last week and nearly got it right - but realised that I had trouble getting my right hand in the correct position. So the ball certainly went further but I realised that my swing was erratic with slicing right - and drawing to the left - in equal amounts. Your painting metaphor is precisely what I need to work on my swing motion by not only keeping my right arm close to my body - but also the real key to me is keeping the wrist cocked right through the swing and flick it only at the point of contact - not before! Your consistent ability to pick the right metaphor and demonstrate it simply is what makes all the difference to my game. At 72 years old I am hitting 260 yards through your inspiring tuition.

Hi Danny, I've been watching your videos for a few months, got some of my mates watching you too. You've improved my iron ball striking hugely, I've not removed my driver from the bag for a year as I'm snap hooking then overcompensating and it now scares me, but I've climbed to a 10 handicap because of it. I'm going to try this drill as it looks pretty simple when described so well. Thanks for the great coaching.

Thanks Danny for the great video. Will try it soon at the practice but, if I may, I would have liked to get also a camera also facing you and not only behind you as the “painting” movement is in the same direction. Also, you did not mention again the fact that the angle arm-wrist of your right hand is kept the same until impact, and it was paramount for the iron shots. is it true also with the driver? Last, what would would you say initiate the start of the painting down? The weight has to be transfered quite quickly to the left before the impact correct? Thanks!

After watching the video of your lesson with Pete Cowan I tried incorporating the technique into my game and had one of the best and most satisfying rounds of golf for years. Unfortunately, in subsequent games bad habits crept back in causing doubt and inconsistency again. So this video, along with one from the Average Golfer testing your tips of the same technique with a slightly different concept of a dumbbell and splashing water, has really helped to help clarify/simplify adopting the correct posture/movements required to get me back on track. I managed to hit 9 fairways off the tee, today. Thanks for your great videos. My best score before today, was a 97 on a par 71. I just started outdoor golfing in April of this year. Danny - I love how your visuals make it so simple. Not only that, you keep repeating over the same instructions just in different ways to get the mind to grasp it so it really makes sense. I am just coming back to golf after a 12 year break from any serious golf (also went from 52 yrs old to 64 yrs old and just can't get the flexibility like it use to be, but working on that as with your video tips). Your videos are getting me back on track. I am a much better chipper, sand player, fairway woods player now that I was a couple months ago. I am getting so close with the irons, and the driver is currently my biggest nemesis on the course, but hopefully this one video will help me out there. Thanks again for the great information! FYI - To anyone new. The information provided only works if you practice it and test it out on the course. I am putting close to 10 hours of practice right now, plus playing golf 3-4 times a week. Plus working with a swing coach that can see what I am doing helps as well.

I would try to dip in with that left knee more to get more hip turn or even lift the heel like Nicklaus did and increase the back swing below parallel like Daly to get more coil and more time to get that speed. I am new to golf, only two seasons in and only few months of hitting the driver(I left it for last) suddenly I went from barely carrying 215 yards to last time hitting 4-5 balls that carried 250 yards and this is with range balls. I was excited so I recorded my swing for the first time and I noticed I dip in well below parallel, I was pleasently surprised how well coordinated and fluid it all looked. The increased backswing really gives me the time to create that lag. Now looking at Danny here my swing looked exactly the same only with bigger back swing and more left knee bend obviously. Still not consistent though but its good to know I am the right track.

I have only just recently gotten into golf the last couple of weeks with a few mates. barely any experience before hand and god am I awful. But the more and more i watch your videos the more i understand what i need to work on and that is the best feeling ever. Felt like i was going in completely blind beforehand but your videos are so clear and easy to understand and i just want to thank you.

Is it safe to say you hold your angles/right wrist with the irons and release the angles (late or at the right time) with the driver?

This has been extremely helpful. First I’m very analytical and understand what causes a slice. Either swinging out to in or leaving the club head open. I’ve tried many solutions and drills over the past couple of years. Some have worked for a while but the slice returns after a while. Essentially, with my driver, I’m very inconsistent. I usually hit my irons well and straight. Same for fairway woods. After following this video and working the suggestions, it is finally coming together after two years. Part of the revelation to me is that this is essentially how I hit my irons, swinging DOWN and around, where I’d been hitting driver more AROUND and being obsessed with swinging from in to out in terms of swing path and trying to time closing the club face with my hands, usually resulting in a push or slice. One thing I’d add is that when I get to the top, I say “DOWN” to myself to remind me to swing down with my arms. Not perfectly consistent yet but a remarkable improvement!

Morning, Dan - really struggling with Driver at the mo’ so thanks for this. I actually referred to two of your videos from May / June last year, where you did Irons & Driver and stressed importance of club going up and body pivoting. Over the range to practice tomorrow, as sure this will help me stay more centred as swing too flat and have a little sway to right. Cheers 👍 Ken.

These supplementary videos to the original Cowan video have been brilliant, as I thought Pete's use of the word "spinning" didn't clearly explain what he was trying to teach. This technique has made a very slight change to my hand position at impact and I'm looking forward to trying it out tomorrow as it is my inconsistent driving that has been blighting my game all summer. Thanks, Danny!
