This is why you struggle to strike your irons pure and make solid contact 👇
1. You tend to rush your golf downswing
2. Your right arm in the golf swing moves out not down
What's great is if you have any one of these faults in your golf swing they are really easy to fix and can make an instant impact on the quality of your ball striking not just with your irons but with your driver too.
For example if you want to hit your driver straight just getting the forearms aligned at address will be a real eye opener for you. Danny has put the golf swing tips in a practice plan that you can access here 👇

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Many thanks again Danny, Ive been playing for 25 years and had many many physical lessons but your videos are better structured than any lesson. I moved to NL three years ago and just had my first lessons here and it was better than most. The pro told me exactly what I already knew but importantly he showed me how to fix it, get your hips moving first. Didn’t try to change the world, just how to fix it. He finished with one small comment that resonated with me, “ don’t let your trail shoulder overtake your lead shoulder” . I so wish someone would have said that 25 years ago.

What does that mean? "Dont let your trail shoulder overtake your lead shoulder?"
@Beast4Peace
@Beast4Peace Ай бұрын
@@vincentkingsdale8334I’m no expert but imagine swinging so that a right handed golfer’s right arm is coming around so hard that you end up pointing left of the target as you hit the ball. That would be the “trail shoulder (right shoulder)” overtaking the “lead shoulder (left).” Anyone is free to correct me. Another way of thinking about it is being square at impact means the club facing the target. So if you are too fast with the right side you won’t be square. Golf is hard because you can’t be too slow either. It’s all about balance.
@rickroll9086
@rickroll9086 Ай бұрын
@@vincentkingsdale8334Yeah, can mean many things, as it’s impossible for your back shoulder to be ahead of your lead. What it likely means is don’t let the trail shoulder drive the swing. If your trail elbow is tucked, your trail forearm facing up, your trail wrist flattened and you’re dropping the club, then your trail shoulder drops and follows. To me, that means don’t even think about the trail shoulder; it just follows everything else. A ‘shoulder turn’ is also one of the misconceptions about a swing; it doesn’t drive the swing, but follows naturally. IMO, and I’m a huge fan of Danny so hope I’ve not screwed that up….😮

Just thought I’d jump on here to say a huge thanks … I have been struggling with strike consistency for a long time now, especially 120 yards in. I played in a club comp recently, and whilst I played OK I only managed to score 20, because I just couldn’t manage my direction, distance control, and was tense and fidgety over the the ball. I have been using this method a few days and today I scored 34! Not only could I not believe it, neither could my other half, who I was playing with … she said and I quote “It was like playing with a proper golfer 😂 “ Everything was just so crisp and solid and the sound of the ball coming off my irons! … Pessimistically, I’m now expecting either the bubble to burst or for my alarm go off for me to get up! Thanks again Danny another pearl!! 😊

This really tied together for me Monte's No Turn Cast concept and AMG's video of lowering the arms. You really did an excellent job demonstrating this. I recently had a lesson due to me rushing the downswing and my instructor was trying to get me to do this, but you put it more simply where i could get the feel of what he wanted me to do. Tried this in my sim last night and it was a world of difference in my ball striking. Thank you for the video!!! It was a tremendous help!!!

I tried incorporating this drill in my downswing and after I got the feel for blending the connection of the right arm to my right side as I straightened my right arm really helped my downswing. I achieved more consistent contact and ball compression at the range today.. The up, down, and around really works. It works best when you make a complete backswing prior to incorporating these downswing techniques. To me it seems to ensure that I turn my right shoulder thru on plane in the downswing which really stops coming over the top and increases side bend in the downswing.

This might be the most important golf lesson ever. I've been trying to figure out lag for 2 years. This video immediately clicked for me. After just a few drills I started to see the club dropping down parallel to the ground at the top of the swing and my lag looks much netter when my hands reach knee high before impact. I saw an immediate 10 yard gain with my 9 iron with a baby draw. Thanks Danny. Brilliant!

This video is timely, because I've been struggling with excessive shaft lean in my setup. I didn't know I was doing it until I recorded my swing from face-on and saw it for myself. Suddenly, I understood why I was topping the ball so much with my irons. Too much shaft lean at setup and trying to hold that position throughout my downswing. All I did was move the club handle about three inches to the right in my setup (I'm right-handed), and it fixed it! Great video, as always, Danny!

Thanks Danny. For me this is reenforcing what I’ve been doing recently from an amalgamation of your previous videos. If I take it back smoothly and make sure I fully turn, with wrist angles and elbow position and then in the downswing don’t rush and throw the club but get the elbow right and turn smoothly (I’m a throw and rusher trying to smash it) it all follows naturally. I’ve even stood there and wondered if I really hit that last shot 😂😂. If I rush back I often think I’ve turned when really it’s only a lift and partially turned. Great stuff Danny.

Right...so...I never comment on videos, but I have to thank you for this one Danny. I worked with an instructor who was trying to get me to move the club more vertically as I had that wicked over the top, left shoulder leading move. I struggled with it mightily and I just couldn't seem to grasp moving the club downward with the arms to start my swing. Now I get what he was trying to tell me! Part of my pre-shot routine now is to sense my right elbow connecting, then right arm extending. It's making a big difference. It still feels weird because I'm not used to engaging my arms at the beginning of the swing but the results are undeniable. Thank you for this and your other lovely content.

As I turn I reach for the arrow, at full turn I grab it, then pull it out and turn in one fluid motion. Man, I love it when you cover something I'm currently having problems with. I think I've been dragging the arm, or doing something weird to try and stay inside, which has been really randomising my results lately. It's a shame I'm seeing this on the morning I've sold my irons, but at least I've still got the wedges to keep up the practice at my local p&p. As ever, thanks, Danny.

Wow!!! Danny this was amazing!! I just tried this on some 80 yard shots. The results were amazing! I tried something like this last year, but I didn’t have the explanation you provided about reconnecting the elbows and feeling the elbow start the whip. I was thrusting the right arm down too much. The concept of just dropping and reconnecting the elbows, and letting the energy whip through impact is perfect! There is obviously more to the swing we need in place for this to work (you need a good backswing and follow through too), but man, this is a huge part of the downswing! Explained magnificently! Was effortless distance today! Thank you very much!

Dude, This explanation is the golden nugget for my ball/turf strike issues. Spent about 30 minutes drilling the motion and release then went to the range. After a few shots I realized I needed to forget about my cues for weight shift, hip bump and hand wrist position at impact etc...I am now moving thru impact with less effort and distraction and making crisp contact with a nice ball/turf strike. I did have an issue with direction control but I think this is due to my previous maniputions, whatever the case I have a penetrating lower ball flight...I can work with that. Thx Danny, my confidence after only 1 day is soaring. Excited to see what practice looks like when I am confident with the move.

Hi Danny, just another great video.Very helpful to understand that it doesn't take that much forward lean to hit from the fairway and the correct movement of the arms and hands. I will try it out this weekend. All the best from the German guy who ran into you in the parking lot at Canterbury CG last week. Hope to see you in person later this year. All the best, Marc

Wow Danny this technique has apeared to help me! Went straight to the golf range after seeing this and after a few missed shots, i was beginning to get a consistant ball strike, straight and with a slight draw (which i never do!). Once consistent with my 7i, went to my hybrid and after a few balls I was hitting much straighter and then again with a slight draw! Not attempted the course as yet would like build the muscle memory on this swing a little bit more before I do. This has been sound advice for me and its appears to be working well! Thank you!

Thanks Danny, this is very helpful. My swing is really erratic, it feels good when I'm hitting a 50 yard pitch, relaxed and good follow through. I've been told my back swing good, so I just have a massive problem blending the backswing and the downswing together. I also start well with the right arm but by the time I'm thinking "downswing" I have the feeling that my arms are both working like an Olympic hammer thrower. I'm guessing that feel makes me pull the club in but whatever it is it's holding me back. In my mind i feel that I know what I should be doing but I tense up on the course and forget the keys things...

I have no idea about what a golf practice session should look like, or how long it should be. Any guidance would be appreciated. Keep up the great videos too!😄
