It’s the first movie I’ve seen in my life where rocks made me cry.

I am Chinese American and I cannot tell you enough how hard I laughed even at minute one, where Evelyn and her husband were speaking Chinglish the EXACT way I speak Chinglish at home. It was perfect. And then it was perfect for another 2+ hours, I loved it so much.

After the movie, someone sitting behind said that it felt like everyone in the theater had a life changing experience. It was amazing. An Oscar for Michelle Yeoh 2023!

This movie was so good I walked out of the theater speechless. Then 10 minutes later walked back into the theater and watched it again. First time I’ve ever done that with a movie and it was worth it.

I really want to see this movie, in big part from the great reviews, but mostly because I tweet I saw that said "Between Coco, Encanto, Everything Everywhere All At Once and Turning Red, millennial filmmakers are slowly creating an entire genre of fantasy films where parents apologize."

I saw this movie and was really inspired. This movie is one of those movies that I feel everyone should experience. Yes, it can bounce around and confuse some people, but I found out, if they know what the story line of the movie is, it helps understand the characters when they switch universe or bodies. I hope Michelle Yeoh gets nominate for an Oscar for this role.

I think the themes in this movie are going to hit you different after you have some mileage in your life: a decade of marriage, a sense of guilt and disappointed parents, a drifting relationship with a child. Like in the movie Ratatouille, this movie may give you a huge dose of perspective if you have the life experiences to appreciate it.

I felt like a little kid watching this movie, I felt as if the concept of imagination was showed to me for the first time. The plot was amazing, the colors, the action, amazing

Just saw it yesterday. It’s very rare for me to go see a movie more than once in theaters, but I’ve already got tickets to see it again tonight with a different group of friends.

I left the theater really wanting to talk about this movie, but not really being sure who would really share my enthusiasm for it. This is the most interesting production to come out of Hollywood in a very long time. Daniels have a Spike Jones/Michel Gondry meta awareness they use to tell a very postmodern story that feels organic and remains accessible. The multiverse platform has seemingly replaced magical realism as the trope du jour. And those performances. Wow. Michelle Yeoh was transcendent in a truly a challenging role. Few actors have the charisma to hold together such an insane premise. Ke Huy Quan is very impressive. Not only does he exude generosity, his cultural cache adds to the meta quirkiness of the movie. Curtis and Hong are rock solid pros. There's a lot to say. Find a friend that can be talked into seeing art house Rick and Morty.

Everyone in the theatre was sniffling for the last 30 minutes. I cried so much my neck was even soaked. I did not know it would be so heartfelt. I just thought the trailer looked cool and I love Michelle Yeoh.

Saw this a week ago, and it still resonates. This movie caught me off guard. I just thought it would be a bonkers ride (which it definitely was) but it was SO much more. The balance of humor, action, exploration of family/generational dynamics and heartfelt message was astounding. As great as I found it, I know it won't be everyones cup of tea but I also can't help but recommend it to everyone. This will definitely join the ranks of my rare physical media purchases.

I am convinced that this very well may be one of the best movies to ever be created in the history of our existence. It didn’t feel like a movie but rather a human experience. Like every emotion you could feel.

This movie made me and many cry like crazy today. My life has been incredibly hard recently since childhood never being wanted by my parents. I have been going through severe anxiety and depression after my Thai wife told me she never actually loved me after 4 years of marriage and wanted a divorce in a text message 4 days before my before. I felt like my life just didn’t matter and why did I even exist and that I was the worst version of myself. The movie touched my soul and I pretty much cried most of the movie but tears of joy at the end. I know it sounds insane but this movie gave me hope that my life actually matters and that as a nice guy I don’t actually have to finish last. This is the best and most touching movie I have ever seen. Great review!

My boyfriend and I walked out of this movie completely speechless for a bit. We had giggled and cried throughout the entire thing. I can't believe how much it affected me and how well it balanced every type of tone. I also lost my mom last year and am only barely out of college myself, so the strained mother-daughter relationship and the message of the movie really hit me personally. My advice is to go in as blind as possible, it is an INSANE experience. Can't wait to see it again.

I'm a parent of a nihilist, and I called them up after watching this film and apologized and cried all over that, too. But don't let a mom stop you from watching this. Pretend I didn't mention it.

This is easily one of the greatest movies I’ve ever experienced. Between the story, writing, cinematography, effects, sound. Everything was perfectly crafted to tie together this amazing tale. It was such a roller coaster ride in the theater it was completely fantastical but grounded and relatable at the same time.

tick, tick... BOOM! was my favorite film of 2021. EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE is my favorite film of 2022 at present. This movie is so absolutely bonkers, almost incomprehensible, and I loved every minute.

This movie reminded me of seeing 'Time Bandits' in 1982 and just being completely blown away by the way the director put EVERYTHING on the screen and just went with the story. So creative, so emotional, so beautiful. It reinforces film as an art form and not just as a tax deduction.

Dan, I am always so impressed with your precision in describing movies. You so often put to words exactly how I felt about a movie, distinguishing so well between quality, and the sort of people that would enjoy it. Your discussion here about the accessibility of "Everywhere" vs. Spiderman is another perfect example of that. (Loved the movie, btw. I was lucky enough to see it last weekend).

I never laughed so hard in theatre. At the same time I related so so much to the core story as a person who struggled with my sexual orientation in my teenage years. I never imagined I would cry during such an absurd movie but I did, in the best way possible. Just like what others are saying in the comments, it was a life changing experience. Guys you have got to watch it.

This is quite literally the greatest movie of all time.

I saw it last night. Amazing! The beginning was a little slow, but I knew it was going to speed up quickly. There are a lot of crazy scenes and agree I may rewatch since there was so much to take in. I hope people remember this movie during awards season because it’s original and Michelle’s performance was too amazing to be overlooked.

Cinematic Experience. That's what this movie is. I just watched it today. I remember seeing The Matrix in the theatres, Inception. This movie is on that level when it comes to originality. Wow.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. Ke Huy Quan was on Jimmy Kimmel's show last week and I was touched by his joy and passion, as well as his gratitude to finally be getting the fulfilling roles that weren't offered to Asian-Americans until recently.

All of the actors in this were ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, I'm shocked at how flawlessly they were able to switch characters within one movie and make it work so well!!

When everyone was raving about this movie I was intrigued, then I saw it was from the makers of Swiss Army Man and I knew I was gonna love it. Stephanie Hsu's performance really stood out to me, I hope to see more of her work in the future.

As someone who loves existential and absurdist philosophy, this is the best movie I’ve seen maybe ever. Go in ready to think, cry, laugh, and be ready to have your worldview flipped

I saw it a bunch of times now in NYC with a ton of different audiences (2 of which nearly sold out the theater), and it is unanimously loved and crowd pleasing in all the right ways. What could have been a mess of a film, comes together and has a ton of fun with its concept comedically and dramatically. Mainly for one simple reason, the compelling yet relatable family conflict/drama that lies at the center within all that madness. It never loses focus on developing that conflict, providing truly refined arcs for each character, and paying it off in big ways, both emotionally and/or comedically. This is one film that Doctor Strange will have a tough time topping narratively and emotionally (we know it will get massive amounts of cash from the brand alone, the quality of the film remains to be seen), as Everything Everywhere All At Once is looking to be one of the best films of 2022 for this year and a surprisingly low key hit. I can't help but mention, this was made around $28 million dollars with a small team of 7 VFX artists to create 500 shots of VFX in this film. Yes, 7 people and it looks just as good, as well as better than even a good Marvel film with at least $200 million dollars pumped into it.

After I watched this movie I felt like I needed it. It really put life into perspective and made me cherish everything. on top of that it was a hilarious ride with great characters and writing. Overall one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while.

I just saw it earlier today, and for the first time in my lifetime of loving going to the movies, I am seriously considering seeing it again tonight. It was just so good.

Instantly told my boyfriend this is my favorite movie after we saw it the first time. Saw it a second time because I wanted to see it in theaters again and still loved it. Still cried. I related a lot to Waymond as a sensitive person but someone who still sees themself as strong. Definitely buying a digital version once available

It blows my mind that one of the most insane, absurd, and ridiculous movies is hitting so hard. It’s literally a masterpiece. It will connect to anyone in some way or another. It’s super original and the most fun I have ever had at the movies in years. 10/10

I highly recommend everyone to see this while it’s in theaters before it’s gone. This is gonna be looked back on as a classic. It’s flawless in my opinion. Peak cinema.

Absolutely amazing movie. Thanks Dan for mentioning how Jonathan Quan was essentially forced out of Hollywood because of the color of his skin. He was mesmerizing in this movie and proved Hollywood idiots had no idea what they had in their hands by not casting him.

My partner and I saw it last night. We knew nothing except what was in the trailer and that we like Michelle Yeoh. It was a wild ride from start to finish. We laughed, we cried, we loved it.

I have never left a theater feeling so incredibly grounded in the present and yet so surprised to be there in my own body. I saw myself in the theater bathroom mirror and just stood there looking. I got to the parking lot and started happy sobbing to my partner like…I can’t believe out of all the people and places we could be, we are here right now with each other. I’ve never felt so seen and understood by a movie and the fact that it’s so insane and brilliantly weird makes it feel even better.

Just watched this movie in theaters today and holy shit! I think the most incredible thing about it is how it manages to take its absurdity and over-the-topness to such ridiculous heights and then become so grounded in reality and so serious in its climax, while maintaining the absurdity. It was amazing how the movie manages to *SPOILER* make the audience (at least in my theater room) laugh hysterically at people with hot dog fingers and boulders talking to each other, and then half an hour later everyone is dead serious (and some even crying) at those same sausage fingers and googly-eyed boulders. It's an absurd movie, and I think it takes awhile for the movie to get the the point, but it's SO much more than that and when it finally gets to the point, it's well worth it.

I just saw it twice in a row here on YT. Cried both times, even knowing what was coming on the second viewing, it still hit the feels. One of the things I read in an interview with the Daniels is something I saw mentioned elsewhere before that interview in the comments section of the trailer and indeed was confirmed in the interview: The emotional core of the movie is what everyone is picking up on, but the means of telling that story is the way it is because it's framed as an AD(H)D experience and if you know anything about how relationships fall apart when one person has ADHD that's not treated with respect by one or both partners in that relationship, a lot of how Waymond and Eveyln interact for a lot of the story early on is spot on..I can tell you from personal experience. Anyway, thought I'd throw a little bit of that trivia out there.

Yea this is as good as advertised. Everything everywhere all at once has most of what I’m looking for in an absolute may-lay of tripped out & better yet crazed moments. It’s Hilarious when it’s desired to. Plus it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Very layered throughout the majority of the casting performances. Definitely my favorite so far! We’re not through the halfway mark of the year.

Half of my cinema was crying by the end of this movie and I think that speaks to just how much heart it has alongside the creative and absurd. It was a slightly overwhelming movie at times but I don’t regret seeing it

Thank you for reviewing this one, Dan! I appreciated having your thoughts to come to. Not to mention, you posting this spread awareness for this beautiful film. I see it Thursday and haven't stopped thinking about it. Thinking about the film gets me extremely emotional, not because of the film being very touching at times. But just because of the craft of the time. Absolutely everything about it is firing on all cylinders. I emotionally reacted to the film many times. Laughing, cheering, getting a tear in my eye, relating parts of it to my own life. This is the kind of film that reminds me why film is so special and important to me. I don't think I have left a theater with that feeling since 2019. I was extremely disappointed with almost everything I saw in a theater in 2021. All the best films in my opinion were from streaming services. So to have this film exclusively in a theater really meant a lot to me. I'm getting chills typing this now. Yet another reminder of the power of film.

On one end is that WB $190 million fart of a movie Matrix: Resurrections & the other end is this $25 million instant classic of a gem made by A24 & The Daniels that stares into the void of existence & finds human meaning. This film puts 90%+ of Hollywood movies to shame in its concept, message & actualization. This is a personal-self changing movie & that is immense.

This movie is absolutely insane and I loved it. I’m seeing it again today with my cousin where I didn’t want to say too much since I feel it’s hard to discuss without getting into spoilers other than just being very broad.

This for me is a 4K must own. Michelle Yeoh is magnificent in this role. Stephanie Hsu is absolutely devastatingly beautiful as both the Daughter & Villian. Yes, I'm a bit smitten by her duality. The real revelation is the long awaited resurgence of my man Jonathan Ke Huy Quan. He's come a long way from being 2 of my favorite characters in the 80's; Data ( *The Goonies* ) & Short Round ( *Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom* ) He was the cohesive glue that brought both the levity and heart of this film. One of my favorite films so far of this year. *Fun Fact* Ke Huy Quan had been working stunt choreographer for both movies like X-Men and The One w Jet Li as the assistant of renowned Hong Kong fight choreographer Corey Yuen.

It's rare that I get to bring my entire family (brother, mom, dad) to the movies and everyone comes out of the theater having enjoyed themselves. My brother likes absurdist humor and sci-fi. My mom likes emotional stuff. My dad prefers action. This movie had it all!

I saw the trailer early this year and instantly felt that there was something special to it. I'm so so glad that i was right, this movie hit me in weird ways I never expected, having me laugh at some of the weirdest scenes I've yet seen on screen, while moments later grimacing and tearing up about the more intimate moments the characters share. This is truly one of those films that needs to be watched in the cinema.

This is going to be one of my all time favourite films - an action/sci fi where I was screaming with laughter one minute and shedding silent tears uncontrollably the next, by the end my heart and mind felt full and I was reminded of all my blessings and why I believe in spreading positivity.

It was funny, heartfelt, engaging, dramatic, visually stunning. It was Amazing!!!! It was so good to see Data grown up. He gave a great performance. Jamie was sooooo frickin funny, scary, just amazing. I did not know she was that great if an actor. Everyone gave a great performance!!! They complimented eachother so well.

watching this movie felt like it was going to throw me into an existential crisis like the first time I watched The Butterfly Effect. But I'd watch it again a thousand times tbh...

As someone who leans nihilistic, the last 20% had me crying quite a bit. The movie was so ridiculous, it somehow felt more meaningful because it was a more arcuate reflection of life - which I find quite ridiculous. It's also rare for me to simply 'feel' without overthinking, and this movie had me in that zone. Loved it.

This movie had me astounded . One of the best movies I’ve seen since ‘Last Night in Soho.’ So creative and amazing . I really fw this film , worth going .

Holy shit, I had no idea that was Short Round! He was incredible in this! Everyone was great, but you just blew my mind with that.

they had me at Michele Yeoh. I knew her from Hidden dragon, I went to see the film in cinema at age 11 (I'm romanian, we're allowed) but I fell in love with her with Memories of a Geisha, made me wish she was my mom. XD

I am very keen to see this one! No release dae yet for Finland, but fingers ae crossed.

Already putting this one as one of the best this year and very likely this won't even get mentioned in the Oscars because it came out too early in the year for those "while the fire is hot" voters. Really enjoyed it's use of the multiverse and concept of gaining the abilities and also using it as a means for a more intimate story about ones self in one universe. In a way, I feel this was a better version of "The Matrix: Resurrection" for me since it's also exploring a wild world behind the veil while also, you know, not confusing itself on trying to be some middle finger to the studio and then having some personal connection to it making it hard to know how to feel about it in the now. Gonna be refreshing to look back on after Strange next month is going to look at this concept as simply a way to promote different versions of other characters by comparison. Also, let's give very many props to the costume and makeup department and set designers in particular for this film.

I just bought a really nice Sony TV for the bedroom and whenever I buy a new TV I buy a movie to watch on it and I knew I had planned to watch this movie for sometime so naturally I picked up a copy in 4k and my goodness especially with the Dolby Vision etc this movie was absolutely beautiful and yes several times I teared up and just enjoyed how crazy of a ride it takes you on. The word refreshing comes to mind, always love with cinema can generate that feeling.

Great review Dan! My theater had a blast and I really think this was one of those films that benefits from collective "WTF LOL" gasps in an audience. Streaming this at home just won't hit the same, so I hope the release gets as much traction as possible and people feel more safe to go to the movies now. So much raw style, editing skill, VFX candy, comedic timing, asian-american relatability, thematic strengths, and fun action.... it's such a good time. But it is sure to turn off some folks who are simply not in the right mood at the right time, or who've simply set their expectations too high due to overhype (as often happens with word of mouth). I just hope it goes down as a highlight for A24 and their catalogue. To me this was the fresh lighthearted take on life's chaos that we needed right now and I hope it inspires many more existing/new filmmakers to tackle intimate themes in unconventional ways.

I honestly haven't been to the theater much at all in the past year, but this sounds like one I might need to make the trip for. I like the idea of supporting theatric endeavors like this, whether it winds up being my cup of tea or not.
