Matrix49A-- You're the one who's an imbecile thinking that Americans like Danny Trejo are trash. What one thing have YOU accomplished to be a positive role model? Let me guess....nothing Trejo has been to Hell and back and developed into an extraordinary person. Everyone makes mistakes. Only the wise learn from the errors of others then choose to take a different path.

Danny Trejo is one of those people that you come across in life who is truly genuine and that is what makes him so special. There is no pretense about the man, he is just who he is. One of his best roles was in a movie called "The Replacement Killers" with Mira Sorvino and Chow Yun-Fat. He plays a hit man and there is no show of emotion of any kind until just seconds before he himself is killed and then he gives that signature grin that he has which says "I f**ked up bad." One interview he did the question was asked, "When did you realize that you had made the grade as an actor?" He laughed and said, "They took me to a room on the set to meet the rest of the cast. I didn't think much of it until they introduced Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, and Tom Sizemore along with director Micheal Mann to me. That's when I sort of realized that I might have made the grade."

Clicked out of curiosity and left an instant fan. This is probably one of the most honest and humble interviews I've seen. Now this is someone in Hollywood who I would want to have a conversation over coffee with. He sounds like a true diamond in the rough.

I am still waiting for the day that the Governor (currently Gavin Newsom) comes to his or her senses and grants this man a full pardon. Part of the problem with the "system", is that it instills the idea that there is never any forgiveness and redemption (once a con, always a con). And Mr. Trejo has proved that its possible to turn your life around and make a difference and it is about time his state / government recognizes him for that.

D.E. Sarcarean - "Part of the problem with the "system", is that it instills the idea that there is never any forgiveness and redemption (once a con, always a con)" I think that mindset, once a con, always a con, is a great philosophy. I'll give a few reasons 1. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. You cannot get away with committing a crime simply because you didn't know your actions were illegal. You're responsible for knowing what a felony is and the repercussions for committing a felony. For example, Until the day you die, your felony offense will be a matter of public record for anyone to see. felons can't vote. Felons cannot own firearms. Certain types of careers will always be impossible for a felon to obtain etc. The examples I've given are the law in my state, not sure about all states. 2. This is seen by the "system" as a form of deterrence and the reason why it's enforced for life. The "system" reasons that if you're interested in a becoming a teacher, federal employee, police officer, pharmacist, banker or you want to vote or own firearms you won't commit felonies.
@FurEngel
@FurEngel 5 жыл бұрын
@@donmiller2908 I respect your opinion but I fundamentally disagree. First, it makes all offenses essentially life sentences with parole and actually denies someone the ability to "repay their debt to society". Second, you used the word "felony" but I doubt you actually know what that word means. I know you are thinking "It means a felonious crime!", but you would be wrong. Since the 70s, politicians have redefined that word to mean anything they want in order to achieve political ends. Third point, you mention "ignorance of the law", well here comes the irony to your statement: you've commit many, many felonies. And I do literally mean you, a person I have never met. Congress passed over 125 felony criminal statues last year, how many did you read? Again, according to you, ignorance is not an excuse. How many total U.S. criminal statues are there? Take a guess. I can say, confidentially, that every single U.S. citizen commits federal crimes on a daily basis and most without thinking about it. In the early days of the internet did you use Napster to download a MP3? Last time you were at a U.S. park did you accidentally take a rock home with you? When Andrew Cuomo (Gov of NY) was a child, he picked up an eagle feather and took it home (of which he STILL has the feather to this day and its STILL a federal crime to posses an eagle's feather). You ever tell a bill collector you didn't have the money to pay a debt or deposit a check in your bank knowing you would be paid the next day? You guessed it, crime and crime. The previous President admitted in his books to a dozen or so felonies (possession of cocaine, conspiracy, etc.). So that leads me to the conclusion: a justice system you are content with, as long as its not you who gets caught. If you would like to further research this, then I suggest you read the book: Three Felonies a Day. Its about how most Americans commit (you guessed it), 3 felonies without ever realizing it.
@donmiller2908

D.E. Sarcarean - "So that leads me to the conclusion: a justice system you are content with, as long as its not you who gets caught" Pretty much spot on. But tell me, even if you believe that the current justice system is seriously flawed you must realize that it isn't going to change merely by having people complain. I imagine it would take a revolution on the order of the one that ousted the British. And you know that isn't going to happen.
@FurEngel
@FurEngel 5 жыл бұрын
@@donmiller2908 Which is why I suggested in my first post that the Gov. use the one power that does sometimes corrects the system. No different than the last CA Gov. that pardoned Robert Downey Jr. for the felonies he committed. But I would argue that Mr. Trejo has done more good for the people of CA than Iron Man.

Danny Trejo’s son lives in Lompoc Ca. And he was my customer at the gas station every morning. He drove just a regular old car and worked hard for his money and said his Dad doesn’t give him anything. I said does that upset you and he said No. he wants me to make it on my own out here and learn to appreciate a dollar. But said if his son ever got in a pinch he’d be there to help. I think he is raising his son the right way. Btw, his son is a very nice and respectable dude and has a good way at looking at life
