He seems to be an amazingly kind, thoughtful and rare type of person, the kind that's really difficult to encounter these days...if i ever got to speak to him live, for real and in person, i am sure i would be just mesmerized. His work really helps me and so many others i know to cope with the sharper aspects of reality, that's for sure.
@LusciousTwinkle4 жыл бұрын
would you say he is a narcissist?
@FromTheRoomOfLittleEase3 жыл бұрын
@@LusciousTwinkle That's a word that gets thrown around too much like "OCD." In our culture people tend to judge such traits harsher than is reasonable because there is a strong disapproval for eccentricity of any kind and recognizing your own self worth is for your betters. It's a slave mentality but since the masters are gone now it's not so obvious. They _were_ allowed to speak well of theirselves, be concerned with their looks, have inflated senses of self worth, and "enable" each other's delusions. This was the aristocratic culture. The peasants (renters) were not allowed to wear colorful clothes by law, were to be "good Christian people" and share and give (especially to the lords) and not think of themselves and above all else *work hard* and *value* hard work. Now that we do not have such a class (rich people do not literally own us as part of their land, they are not the same thing culturally at all) we are left with these values which were championed only for the purpose of control and supporting those nobles who aren't even here to support anymore. No, Danzig is a *man* not a "ponce." Yes, by the standards of the talentless, humorless, sweating toads of backwater America he is a total narcissist. He does not deny his talent and accomplishments but will easily acknowledge them, expects respect, is concerned with his honor, and plans to win. What's that sound like? A ruler or a worker bee? These lessons have been driven into people so hard they really think these ideas come from with-in them, but they obviously don't. You learned these things from the nasty stereotypes and caricatures you are confronted with constantly. Many "narcissists" look drastically different when put in another context. Standing next to Donald Trump Glenn would appear a bit less grandiose, for instance. Obviously there are people with personality disorder level behavior but that's a long way from a cock sure young man. If being that was a flaw then studies wouldn't always come back showing women desire these men the most and that men follow them as leaders. That's not some trick, Captain Kirk is very real. Even his followers may criticize such a man *but they will still follow him* This is a winning evolutionary strategy and our society relies on a large pool of such men and women for numerous purposes for which only they are suited. These types of people are why you exist. They stood up and lead, challenged popular notions, and were uncompromising with other cheifs, warlords and kings. They protected your genetic line and invented literally everything. (Genius personality is not extreme high i.q. with conscientiousness, like people imagine, those are scientists and engineers. *Geniuses* exhibit moderately high i.q.s, and high ego/risk taking type traits, but you don't hear that much because it doesn't support popular fantasies that ingratiate those who need help competing and are hoping to dissuade the "flashy folks.") Also, there are types of self importance that don't look like the stereotype and are possessed by the very people who are always complaining about these types of "narcissists." It takes a very inflated sense of self worth to look down ones nose and judge a man like this like he is beneath you. How many who do have accomplishments like his to brag about? It takes a fragile ego to require minimizing him into a "big baby" or a preening jackass. People can't see their own narcissism because it compliments their needs and looks the opposite of the popular, recognizable stereotype that was, of course, created by people like them. People who are in the majority and have a personal vested interest in suppressing those who can out perform them and whose comparison makes them look foolish. When they used to burn witches, and in the countries they still do it in today, it's the ugliest and the prettiest, the dumbest and the smartest, the poorest and the richest. The useless and the powerful. So, clinically? No, obviously not. But by the sack cloth, low hung shoulder, mouth breathers standards? Yes, very much so. But that's a very good thing as those who have nothing to brag about but honesty, chastity, and consistent employment only offer the world one thing: labor. Sheep don't lead, wolves do.

I have met and talked with Glenn numerous times throughout my life. From the 90s until he stopped touring where I live. We are related, though I am unsure if he knows this, my family and the Anzalone family are relations from Sicily. He was always extremely nice to me. The last time we spoke we talked extensively about comic books. He is not who people assume he is. And I do not care what his height is, I am very very short, even for a woman I am well below average height. Height means nothing and cannot be changed anyhow. Dan Spitz on Anthrax is much shorter actually. I have admired and respected Glenn since I was 12 when I learned who he is. I met him the first time when I was 18. I am 46 now, and he will always be someone who is quite meaningful to me personally.
