When I was a kid, this was the first Daredevil comic I ever bought.

I always wanted to sue humanity for emotional distress. Actually is it possible to sue life? I'd to be reimbursed for my trauma with a new life. 😭

Besides the introduction of DD's red costume and the billy club cable this issue demonstrated just how good Nelson and Murdock were as a legal team. Also some of the best artwork Wally Wood ever did!

Favourite comic court cases: 1: Legion of Super Heroes vol4 issue 11 [1991] Tenzil Kem for the defence. When Polar boy gets in trouble, Matter eater lad becomes his lawyer. This run, by Keith Giffen, did some great things with Matter eater lad as a character, making him a great source of humour. And this issue is a highlight. Very funny. 2: Joker: devil's advocate. A 1990's graphic novel by Chuck Dixon and Graham Nolan. Joker is put on trial in a criminal court for poisoning stamps, and will get the death penalty if found guilty. But Batman doesn't think he did it. No superheroics here, just Batman as a detective and legal drama. Really good depth to it. 3: A Judge Dredd story - I really cant remember the issue no - in 2000ad, when East Meg assassin Orlok, who years before instigated Block Mania, which left mega city one defenceless in the face of Russian attack, is finally captured and on trial for his life. And a junior judge has to defend him. It develops well. Being that my only exposure to Daredevil is the Netflix version, it's strange to see him in daylight and with so much expository dialogue. Can you imagine the Netflix version doing the latter? ''[Thinks]: Gasp! Ninjas! Must fight them in the most extravagantly violently choreographed manner possible!'

I am always here for Namor, the most entertaining and surreal water-based superhero (super-antihero?) ever! The ankle-wings---WTF!? And the arrogance you could bounce a tank off of! He barely needs super-strength when armed with the power of his super-arrogance! 😀

It's not really a court case but I liked the moment when Jenn Walters/She-Hulk found out why all the other X-Men were so annoyed she had invited Cyclops to the reading of Professor X's will.

Considering the condition of the world's oceans, I'd be inclined to support both Namor and Poison Ivy in any action against humanity. My favorite courtroom case though would have to be the trail of Reed Richards for when he saved Galactus's life...

Why wouldn't he bring the Atlantean version of a lawyer with him instead of hiring one. Shouldn't he just go to the U.N and make his demands.

Great video! Hit all the right notes about this classic silver age Marvel story. This was from the period before Namor got his own silver age title, so all these guest appearances were semi-rare treasures for us readers. A year or so later Sub-Mariner would finally get his own title as the lead feature in Tales to Astonish, with art by Gene Colan (aka Adam Austin), but for a lot of us, it was kind of a disappointment, mainly because these earlier guest appearances had already set the bar so high.

If there ever going to be new Daredevil season this comic should at least two or three episode arc. Awesome video as always 👍👍

Favorite comic courtroom trial: Batman #291 - 294 - Catwoman, Riddler, Joker and Lex Luthor all claim to have killed Batman and they hold a villian trial.

I remember reading this comic! It was typical Marvel: the underpowered underdog vs the more powerful, but still a great battle occurs. DD in the end gains Namor's respect--so much so, Namor spares the surface world because of DD's resistance...

With you doing some of the older daredevil comics can you look into the What If Daredevil had Become an Agent of SHIELD comic? It was my first What If comic and I think it’s pretty interesting.

I was in fourth grade. They had a buncha comics in the school lunchroom that anyone could read. I guess the comics must've been about three years old, since you tell me DD#7 was 1965. Marvel had ads for their other titles in their comics. Stan drumming up interest in current issues. There was this ad for DD#7. I remember wanting to read it. I thought "I bet Subby kicks his ass." Many years later, I read it reprinted. Watching this brings back my youthful excitement about Superheroes. Thanks. This issue was brilliant.

My favorite comic book courtroom scene is probably The Flash giving testimony as he's being examined by Barry Allen... once again, relying on persistence of vision so he appears to be in two places at once.

Forgot to mention: Jurisprudence. A story from Batman: no man's land. Two face kidnaps Jim Gordon and puts him on trial for some recent actions. But Jim gets Harvey Dent as his defence attorney. Harvey cross examines two face and beats him in an amazing and very unique page.

Loved this issue and re-read it many times- Stan was clearly the best writer/editor of his generation. Every character had a distinctive voice.

Regarding the hyperbole - that was Stan Lee's signature style - especially during the Silver Age. It was all meant to be very tongue in cheek and ironically self-aware. So, it was no way meant to be taken seriously. It was for superhero comics, after all. The writing was intentionally full of bombast and melodrama.

Favorite court case? Marvel Team Up #51 - Chaos in the Court. The trial of the Wraith, with Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Hellcat trying to stop the rampage of a telekinetic on trial.

Speaking of trials in comic books, I just thought I'd mention Vance "Marvel Boy" Astrovik's trial in New Warriors for killing his abusive dad with his telekinesis; with most of the other Warriors on the other side of the world dealing with Night Thrasher's real past and the truth about Tai, the back-and-forth between the two plots helped make the already intense court case all the more gripping, culminating in their dual resolution in issue #25. Check it out if you get a chance.

In John Byrne's Namor run from 1990, Namor is put on trial at the UN if I remember correctly.

8:23 I remember being extremely nonplussed with Daredevil's attempts at quips. I preferred his solemn persona in the earlier comics. The quippy-ness got even more pronounced a couple issues later. I and my fellow comics enthusiasts at the time felt that repartee was more Spiderman's forte. It was good to see this issue highlighted 50 years later...dang, a half century and still a comics nerd.

I lent out my She-Hulk so I can't look it up, but my favorite court case is one that She-Hulk is trying to prep for a case but all their floppies were destroyed so they can't do research for the case. They have to wait for the Trade Paper Backs.....HA! Byrne She-Hulk, you should do some videos on this series it is so much fun.

Namor was a major player in those days until a character like Wolverine came along with an equal amount of attitude. That and the fact that he hung out on dry land where as Namor tended to disappear for extended periods into the depths.

You should do a review of Golden Age Namor, prior to WW2, when he was a pure villain. After WW2 started, he became a hero when the Nazis' blew up his underwater kingdom.

This reminds me of that time during Namor's 90's series, when he was arrested and brought to trial for his attacks on humanity--more specifically, on New York. Because he was operating on the surface as head of Oracle, Inc. at the time, he was out on bail shortly after his arrest at the end of issue #5. He even left the country for a few issues to fight his old Nazi foes Master Man and Warrior Woman, then came right back for his trial--which I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts on, by the way. 😊 Given all the wealth he has access to (from sunken treasures and the like), I'm surprised Namor hasn't just bought the surface world. Instead, he only buys the occasional movie studio or founds a company and that's that...🤔
