Full spoilers vlog! I finally read Dark Age by Pierce Brown and guys... I didn't love it. I hope you enjoy watching my first time reading vlog for this book and I'd love to hear down in the comments about your experience with it. I'm looking forward to Lightbringer and hoping that the "return to form" that I've heard about is true, I'm optimistic.

Honestly, shocking. Dark Age is competing for Golden Son as my second favorite in the series after Lightbringer.

your vlogs are just the best!!! Laura was updating me on her thoughts as she went through, and I am so glad you both had each other as mental support/rant buddies to go through this rough experience lol. I appreciate you for how you talk about this book in a negative way, without ripping it to shreds for 'entertainment value'. Totally fair critiques, and I have to admit that I am ashamed of how much of this book had been deleted from my brain (without me even realising it). Probably goes to show how little impact all the carnage made lol. I am super curious to see how Light Bringer will go for you, I personally think it is a return to form, but then I also didn't dislike books 4 and 5 as much as you did so there's that. Fingers crossed!! ☺

Really happy you decided to read the sequels, finally. Dark Age was certainly more than just a clever title. I needed to watch some cartoons or something after I finished it.

I do think you'll like Lightbringer more. It pulls some threads together and returns to things i think most people enjoyed from the first trilogy.

- Cat is a cutie - Your callout that you wished we got the pov's of other characters is spot on. He feels like the witness to all of the adults in the room. Diomedes is such a great character

Thanks Ryan! I really do have a lot of optimism for Lightbringer 💜 I want more of the characters we know and love in the next book.

For me Dark Age is one of the best books I’ve read in my live, despite being very “dark” is necessary for the characters to go through this journey to reach the best possible ending

I'm glad you enjoyed it! As I mentioned in the vlog, the fact that the story is dark doesn't bother me, it's more how those dark moments were handled in a storytelling structure.

I'm still very conflicted with Dark Age months after the fact. Looking back, I think I was very generous with my score because I was coping that Red Rising couldn't fail me. I think that a large part of why I didn't like it as much is largely the military tactics being so overwhelming and so much stuff happening that I don't care too much about. I don't know about this one. I will say, Light Bringer is quite good and I enjoyed it a lot. I too was thrown into a reading slump after this book.

It was SO overwhelming, and I'm a military fantasy lover. I was conflicted for much the same reasons, you're not alone.

I'm on my 2nd read of the whole series and I honestly can't finish Dark Age this time. I've had to put it aside and read something else and it's a shame cause I love his character work but this book just gets so bogged down by it own plot and yes au Lune should be dead a few times over by now.
