Ok..... You started darkroom printing because you watched a few SFLaB vids!!! I'd just like to say...... You've blown me away by delving straight into colour printing!! I've had a darkroom for a good number of years now..... But I have always held back on colour printing because of how afraid I was from this unknown!! I am SO SO happy discovering your Chanel!! Thank you :-)

Around 8 or 9 years ago I bout an old enlarger with assorted bits and pieces on a whim for €100, but it was a monster of a thing and I ended up just leaving it all in the shed. Recently I've moved back to shooting film and was thinking about setting up a darkroom, so I decided to drag it all out and see if anything was working. Everything's a bit stiff and needs a little TLC but it's all working. It's an Omega with film holders from 35mm right up to 4x5", 3 enlarger lenses, timer, clock, developing tank, film clips, trays....everything! So now I'm in the process of turning the spare room into a darkroom, have developed some negs and hope to begin printing in a week or so. I have to say I admire your dedication. I wouldn't be able to set everything up then take it all down again each time like you do. You put most of us to shame with your enthusiasm.

This is Meopta Axomat enlarger, color 3 is the colour head. This head can be used with different Meopta enlargers like for example Opemus which accepts 6x6 negs.

yea man! seems like most people stick to BW. haven't tried tray developing, i simply don't have enough room, so the drum helps me keep things tight in my small-ish bathroom. i'd love to see your work when you get a moment 😊

Hey man, nice darkroom setup! I just finished my first B&W print also in a bathroom :) About that timer... In Russia we have old USSR-made timer relays, which cost like $10-15 used and do pretty much the same as these fancy ones. When I saw prices of Paterson and Kaiser timers... man, that's a half of an enlarger price!

I think I have the same enlarger: Meopta Axomat 5. The thing is that it does can print medium format, you just need a different film holder, which also has newton glas with it.

I wonder if an aquarium heater could replace a sous vide. Or, a picnic cooler to maintain the temperature. I use a picnic cooler to do steaks sous vide. Cheap, easy, and effective. Just get the water to temp, put it in the cooler, contents in, shut the lid. this maintains the heat well for about an hour. Could the jobo tank be used with a rock tumbler to rotate the drum? Please share how you use the jobo tank to develop paper
@ribsy
@ribsy 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Everything you mentioned about temp is def possible. It's quite versatile. For the Jobo tank, i hand rotate it using the rolling base. There is some quick footage of that process in the video.

Hi Friend. I have the same enlarger. But i have a question . You connect the enlarger directly to the house socket ? Or do you need an adapter? Saludos desde México.
@ribsy
@ribsy 4 жыл бұрын
Saludos! que tal? no, that enlarger plus into the transformer. the transformer then goes plugged into the wall. apparently, the transformer matters because it will ensure a consistent current to the enlarger bulb. hit me up on IG and we can chat. @ribsy__

Thanks so much for this. A question about your print drying. What did you have to change in your printing to get the images not coming out slanted on the paper? Thanks!
@ribsy
@ribsy 3 жыл бұрын
the images were slanted because i was putting the paper under the easel incorrectly. as long as you place your paper correctly (in the dark) then you image won't be slanted 😊
