Processing Kodak 500T in C-41 is not the same as processing CineStill 800T. For one, 800T is designed for C-41 processing. Also, remjet will contaminate you’re C-41 developer and cause tonal shifts. If you chose to process your film in ECN-2, you will need to fully remove the remjet before it goes in the developer, and still not get good results when printing on RA-4 paper. ECN-2 is designed to create a curve that compliments the color-contrast on ECP print film. Whereas CineStill is designed to do exactly what Doing Film Things did. When you process in ECN-2 and then try to print on color paper it is a muddy mess. Scanning gives you some more control with the curves, so you can probably get satisfactory results with cross processing, but nothing as beautiful as you see here.

CineStill Film Hi, I never suggested that processing Kodak Vision 500T in C-41 is the same as processing Cinestill 800T. I only recommended that Ribs (or anyone reading my comment) develop genuine Kodak Vision film stocks (500T, 200T, 250D, 50D) in ECN-2 _instead_ of C-41. Ribs went on to make that mistake in a subsequent video and he did not like the results. I tried to save him the effort because I’ve personally done both and I will stick to ECN-2 from now on. You made an interesting point about darkroom printing from an ECN-2 negative. I have not tried this (yet) because I have only just learned how to do black and white prints at home. There doesn’t seem to be much info about darkroom printing ECN-2 film on the web so I’m wondering if you’re open to publishing your results/sharing some of those comparison prints you did? It would be helpful for the community to have that reference in a post or forum somewhere permanent. Also, you would have another selling point for 800t fans - assuming any are interested in printing.

thanks for watching! yes the drum uses very few chems - its great! nonetheless though, with printing i find that i fly through chemicals. need to order about every 2-3 weeks or so if i am active in the darkroom.

hey - thanks for commenting. i actually just purchased a bunch of kodak 250D from NT. i shot one roll already but haven't developed since I don't have any chems of any sort right now. i saw on Eduardo Pavez channel that he simply does a special wash of the film to remove most of the remjet and then does normal c41. i think i'm gonna try that after i get new chems

@@ribsy I think you have it all covered. It's great that you have your darkroom set up in the Bathroom like that. Back in the early 70's I had to use a Kodak Drum processor with CP-5 Chemicals. I can see that you have a good eye for color balance . Looking forward to checking out more of your videos.

@@ribsy I suggest a set of color filters so you can view your prints to get the proper color balance for your final print. Check eBay, you might find an old set of KODAK filter on there.

Ahhh yes. I’ve considered buying some but they are so pricey. The old kits go for $50+ doing it the eyeball way has helped me learn about understanding colors tho

thanks for watching 😊 def give it a try, its honestly not too bad. in terms of temp, i honestly don't track at all. i heat them up an hot water bath (not measured) to start but then don't do anything further. in fact, my blix doesn't even live in a water bath after the initial heating. its honestly annoying to know that so many people use to say "if you can't control temp, don't even bother" - they were all wrong! 😅🤟🏽

yea - i didn't notice much grain either. i think both scenarios had enough light on them to get a good exposure on the film. the shots are sharp which leads me to believe the shutter speed was reasonable, thus generally enough light (i have no idea what settings i used at the time). thanks for watching 👍🏽

yes i can! i haven't done it tho but you can basically "turn off" the color filtration and just get white light

i crop on the easel. i have no choice actually, since i use an 8x10 proportion easel (4x5) but all my 35mm images are 2x3 proportion i used to use handmade easels but it was hard to quality control. i need to get professional cut mats to get perfect lines
