The Darksiders games are definitely pretty good in a lot of ways; but saying it has the best story progression ever made in video games is going quite a bit too far, don't you think?

This might be quite late, but there's a deeper reason why Death has a stronger connection to War compared to the other horsemen. Darksiders: The Abomination Vault, a novel, explores that connection. If you haven't read it, I really suggest giving it a go. :)

The combat has it's decent amount of problems and the story is far from perfect (it's actually pretty pointless).

While I don't disagree, I definitely like War better than Kratos myself...

i like Deaths humor and dialogue much more than War's dialogue, but i think that has more to do with Visceral stepping their game up with storytelling then War actually just being less interesting. Most aspect of the second game are highly upgraded when compared to the original. having said all that, i really love War. his physical design and costume, even the Abyssal armor the you can unlock eventually, are all super cool. his chaos eater is also amazing, and his horse ruin i think is even cooler than Despair, Deaths horse. All in all i think War is a cooler, more fun character to play in terms of watching him beat shit up. But Death is more interesting as a fully flushed out character because Visceral developed his character much more then they bothered to with War. I really hope we get to see other darksiders games. its weird, though. Visceral says the horseman are composed of War, Death, Fury and Strife. which is obviously not the actual horseman, which usually include famine, conquest, or pestilence (depending on what source we look at). So if new games come out, the next horseman will be pretty much whatever Visceral wants them to be. Should be interesting, if it ever happens.

I agree, plus i feel i could relate to death in terms of personality. love his sarcasm, it's just too funny in a dark way. Plus abilities wise death is stronger then war. although i do love War's sword chaoseater. more of a sword guy than scythe.

Read The abomination vault.You will see a lot more character development especialy for Death.

Aza Smith it makes sense when you consider what each horsemen namesake suggests. War can be synonymous to hatred, passion, bloodlust, pain and vengeance. Death on the other hand is more of a mix bag of emotions. No one looks at death the same way. Wether it's emptiness, despair, hopelessness, relieving, darkness. Some are sad, there angry, some are even happy with bring and in death and yes, even humour can be found in death.

Yeah the first game is very much like GoW but the second game while similar was more of an RPG game.

They are warriors, not just grunts. That’s what being a Warrior used to mean, not just having strength, but having the intellect to know when and how to use it properly for yourself and others.

Soulcist THQ did that so people wouldn't find the game boring, or too much like just a creature killer. They wanted to give their audience a challenge with the traps and puzzles. They wanted the game to be different.

they will take a different path on Darksiders III as well (they said) by adding those Fury spells and who knows what else in her combat arsenal. Let's just hope it will be an awesome game. I don't want it to be NECESSARILY better than Darksiders 1 or 2, I just want DS III to be *on par* at least with those 2.

Stephanie Silvester In the original comics, it is actually Strife that Fury doesn't get along with. They made her dislike War because she (as is obvious) has a lot of sass.

I'm pretty sure her dislike of war is due to her being fooled into thinking that he actually killed humanity. Once she finds out the truth I'm sure her tune will change.

MrTotallySad I kinda hear ya this is still one of my favorite stories of all time but I’d say the part I would’ve made shorter is kingdom of the dead because it just makes you feel like a fool for half of it (getting the three judges for the king to just kill them). It just doesn’t make you feel you accomplished something and then you just go on. Badass cutscenes and all that but man that whole part of the quest just tests your patience. Then the heaven and earth bit were cool but by that point yeah I can see why people would stop for a while.

Hell, Darksiders is legend to me. Completed it well over ten times. Legendary game.
