Darksiders Genesis is an action/adventure that tears its way through hordes of demons, angels, and everything in-between on its way to Hell and back with guns blazing and swords swinging. Genesis gives players their first look at the world of Darksiders before the events of the original game, as well as introduces the Horseman Strife. Still reeling from the events on Eden, War and Strife have been given a new assignment - Lucifer, the enigmatic and deceptive demon king, has been plotting to upset the Balance by granting power to master demons throughout Hell. War and Strife must hunt down these masters, gather information, and ultimately fight their way through a tangled, demonic conspiracy that threatens to forever upset the Balance and unravel all of creation.

I like how this shows that Lucifer plans 20 steps ahead and has backup plans on backup plans, letting his enimies do the work for him while he sits and enjoys a nice cup of blood red wine. And that scene with Belial, sent chills down the spine.

It's how the famous deceiver works. Even with the lores of today, how Lucifer deceived Eve then Eve got Adam to partake of the Forbidden Fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (Which some of us would love to look at and eat as well), that just intro'ed a lot of death.

That is what I find so confusing about him. He's a killing happy psycho who loves to slaughter but he has all these doubts and regrets about killing his own warmongering race. What's the deal? Why the hypocritical feelings of regret if he loves killing so much?

@@EmptyMan000 That''s what make him interesting. He's not just a killing machine. He's selfish, but not blind. He wants to know how the world works. The fact that he regrets the genocide of his kin is a sign of how important the nephilim were to him (kinda like Death, in that regard), or that he truly value his ability to make his own choices. Hard to say.

Funny how even in the final scene you can tell how much Abbadon hates Samael. It's no small wonder Abbadon imprisoned him when he turned to the shadows as the Destroyer.

It's got me Scratching the back of my head, too. In DS1 it was stated that Eden was already destroyed. But If it's any consolation, there's a tiny bit of detail that they didn't retcon. Before the DS1 Abaddon still had his two eyes. In a book called the Abomination Vault, starring War and Death, Abaddon lost his eye due to an enemy wielding a weapon so powerful ( or events that were similar )that not even the most skilled Angel Healers could recuperate the wound dealt to Abaddon. The events of the book happened between Darksiders Genesis and Darksiders 1

Something tells me Lucifer's appearence resembles that of an Dark Angel with black or red wings. Based on his voice, he sounds more humanoid than most demons in the games.

1 is the last one , its genesis, 3, 2 and 1 (with the exception of the end of 2 which is the very end of the saga until 4 comes out)

Wrong! 1 and three happen at the same time, and 2 is the very end. As the hundred years war was imprisoned is when death was finding the innocence if war, the. Sacrificed himself to restore the balance, yet it states all horseman through life and death serve the balance, and the end of 2 happens minutes before the end scene of 1, where the three other horseman answer the call, bringing all horseman, including death, to answer the call

My thoughts are about this game are few. 1. I almost feel sorry for Belial for facing such cruel fate in the dark hands of Lucifer. 2. The horseman's kin do not deserve to be controlled like puppet's like that in Eden 😔 3. War & Strife did their best to try and stop Lucifer from starting the corruption of man. 4. Hearing what Lucifer said to War & Strife was very unsettling 👿

Yes indeed. The premise for this game and the graphics are really good. Hats off to the designer's of this game. And yes, a full blown animated "movie" would be a great concept. One I think would be well received and profitable. Everything about this Darksider's Genesis is engaging and very thematic. Alot of fun!

@@briannahoward7736 they weren't tired of destroying planets, and neither were some of the horsemen. strife was chosen because he would kill without question, basically being a assassin for hire, fury we also know never cared about the balance or was tired of killing, she simply realized that once they attacked eden the nephilim wouldn't stand a chance and jumped on the first chance she got out of that. she didnt change in personality from her times with the nephilim either

alxxpspqr not at all, I try not to make more than one level every day and that’s perfect, the more you progress the bigger the levels are yes but we can’t really call them levels, those are more like small open maps that you can explore to get all the items through resolving puzzles. The way the game work is actually pretty close to Mario 64 in term of mapping if you exclude the main quest that is cool but can be summarized by: « go to *insert donjon* and find *insert demonic object* after killing *insert demon name* » and this over and over, this is for me the only weakness of the game. There are also a few side quests but they look pretty much like in game success, you know things like: « kill less than 5 wolves before killing the boss ». However the gameplay is really pleasant, satisfying but also very diversified, there are a lot of attacks, combos, spells, and moreover the pretty interesting idea of being able to switch characters when you want, a bit like skylanders but with versatile characters that have more than 3 attacks. To conclude a pretty good game, just look at the press review and the steam community ones

Well, in Darksiders 2 he was only testing Death and not fighting seriously, while in Genesis the only reason why Moloch managed to get the upper hand on him is because of Lucifer's support. Samael himself said that Moloch would have never been able to even touch him if not for Lucifer enabling him to. And looking at the beginning of the game, he was clearly able to fight Moloch on equal ground. I think there is definitely something more to this, afterall, Samael is said to be the second strongest demon in hell, with Lucifer being the first. And keep in mind what Ostegoth said about Samael "*The demon Samael plays a game of his own devising. And we are his pawns.*"

From what I can say, Darksiders Genesis takes place a few thousands years before DS1, so I'd say it quite some time for Samael to rise in power to match Lucifer's, especially after his rivals were slaughtered by Horsemen

@@Xuerios In the end humans are in the stone age, while DS1 they have cars. Actually Samael does fight him after this but gets defeated and his power is sealed away , which War restores for him in DS1.

@@Dante-xf1mu there is never mentioned that Samael fought Lucifer and lost to him. Samael was in prison mainly because he either lost to the Destroyer or simply his power was drained somehow. Now you may ask - what, destroyer is more powerful than Samael or Lucifer, I'd say no, but Destroyer was kinda immortal as only the Armageddon blade could harm him. One more thing, which Is pure fiction - but I'd say that the Destroyer has lost his horn during the fight with Samael, as I cannot think of anyone powerful enough to do sth like that. But this has no confirmation in story, just my theory
