I have a theory on the DLC: after you defeat the cat creature it will then give up and start crying, it will ask if it can be your pet and you can say yes or no. It will die if you say no, but if you say yes you need to go back to your in game house every in game hour and feed it. At the end of its quest line you hit it with your car, due to the fact that crying does not promote the grind.

one interesting note about the tree btw, is that it actually seems to be two trees conjoined. imo it also looks like the trees are embracing each other, having branches that look kinda like arms, so maybe some form of symbolism there, or im reading too far into it

The lamprey enemies having multiple "eyes" is actually how lampreys look in real life. They're even called "nine-eyes" in german because they look like they have nine eyes on each side (nose, eye and seven gill holes)

The shadow lands were hidden by marika in the shadow of the ErdTree. What if it’s in the middle of the sea north of Limgrave and south of lyndell. Also if you notice on the map all the divine towers outline it perfectly. What if the divine towers are concealing it

Your theory about the Shadow + the veil falling from a bright, golden sky obscured by dark clouds has me thinking it's taking some inspo from Bloodborne; and that the Erdtree and Lands Between are quite literally stacked on top of this ancient Shadow realm kinda like how we see Cathedral Ward from The Fishing Hamlet

Its interesting that you mentioned the fact that the snakes could be dragons because a theory I saw was that Rykard in his snake form had limbs which could be seen as the first step in a snake reaching dragon hood or divinity. even if snakes are related to dragons, remember how snakes adopted snail characteristics to adapt to life in hiding from persecution? maybe mesmer’s snakes were allowed to consume dragons and therefore adopts draconic traits. i guess this means mesmer is/was a dragon slayer

As you know in the base game of Elden ring the beastman of farum Azula use lightning to attack you and in the dlc trailer you can see the lion dancer enemy or boss use lightning to attack and lightning is something ancient dragons use so consider this, since the snakes around messmer have wings heavily implying that snakes in the lands between are dragons we can conclude that messmer=dogman

I think the weird lamprey suction monsters are actually living snakebite kits developed by the civilization that existed before the golden order to suck out the venom when you get bitten by Messmer's snakes. Maybe you can summon them to help you in his boss fight. This is canon, it's in the lore.

This is like my tenth rewatch but I never really took into consideration when Mr. Tark said he thinks Rykard would be a focus in the dlc he definitely will Mr. Tark. Remember at the end of volcano manor when u fight Rykard then afterwards he’s getting consumed by Tanith and it wasn’t really explored? They’re definitely exploring it in the dlc no doubt

On release day people fought to Mohg and said that arm would be the portal to the DLC. For like 2 years everyone said that arm would be the portal to the DLC. We all knew it. We all saw it. I kinda hoped they'd subvert expectations while knowing they would not (it's Naruto with Obito all over again but now it's just 2 years as an adult not 10 years as child which even then felt 50x longer)
