I stuck a JoyCon to the back of the ShotPad and combined them in reWASD to give it Gyro control. Returnal gameplay on PC.
This is the new DarkWalker ShotPad touchpad controller, also known as the IFYOO GTP01. Gameplay on PC.
I'm pretty impressed with this device. It's main drawbacks is that it is not wireless and has no gyro / motion control. However, as a pure mouse and keyboard replacement device I think it does a pretty good job. The buttons are all well placed, with very clicky mouse-style switches. In particular the right bumper having a 2nd button you can click in with the bend of your finger is genius.
The default mappings are also clearly done by someone who is familiar with doing input mappings for m/kb games, and uses the right buttons that will work well for most games and they are positioned properly. For example putting Shift and Space by default on the back buttons which most games will use for sprinting and jumping, or the default bumpers being Q and E which are generally abilities. And since it is recognized by Windows as just a normal mouse and keyboard it is of course fully mappable in input remappers like reWASD, or you could just remap in games.
The touchpad itself feels like a normal laptop touchpad for me, it's not very precise and personally I wouldn't use it as my main controller for shooters. If this device had gyro built in I think it would be great for wide camera sweeps while using the gyro for more precision. However I think this can be a great option for lots of PC games that require cursor control and keyboard inputs; stuff like adventure games, isometric RPGs, strategy games, tactics games, etc.

Yep, lately I've been playing a lot of shooter roguelites and I think they are not only great for gyro aim but are the best place to get adapted to it as well

This combo works extremly well for me! Sadly I have updated the joycon firmware at some point, so I can only use it for a short time before I habe to re-pair it... I ordered the wireless variant of the shotpad, because it has gyro included. Cant wait to try it!

Hey, friend! As always, you are always on the lookout for a new controller with different characteristics, demonstrating all the gameplay of your game. In the present case of the "IFYOO GTP01" control, its innovative combination with the joy-con and the "reWASD", demonstrates that this control could be almost perfect, just having included the "Gyro-somatosensorial" in its manufacture. I hope the manufacturer sees your video and adds this alternative in a future version of this control, even if it requires an increase in its value.

This is such a raw workaround and I love it. Looks like a great controller for what it's built for. Defiantly should've included a gyro sensor (as literally everyone else has stated). But as someone who likes playing around with different input methods, I'd be down to learn trackpads only. I have experience from mobile shooters that would easily transfer to this, although I would need some good acceleration for the trackpad personally. Cool controller, so tempted to plop down the dabloons for this, but will wait out and see if a V2 model comes out with a gyroscope.

Definitely true that mobile players will probably have an easier transition to this, especially with the size of the trackpad. They've already said on their KZfaq that a version with wireless and gyro is in the works, so I'd recommend waiting for that!

The ShotPad works pretty much out of the box exactly as described, as a mouse and keyboard. For the Gyro there really isn't enough to make a tutorial for because you just have to attach a Joycon onto the Shotpad somehow (I used velcro) and I have a tutorial on setting up JoyCon gyro here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eceadbeUsrfPop8.html

Very nice video!! Fortunately they released an updated version that is wireless, has gyroscope and the Function button (Fn) is in the back instead of the right side. Are you going to pick this new version?

I probably will pick one up eventually, the reason I haven't yet is that 1. I heard the gyro in it isn't very good and 2. The games I've ended up using the Shotpad for don't really need it, ie: tactics games and strategy games that I'd rather just use the touchpad for anyway. I also really don't like that they changed one of the backside buttons to the Fn button, because I used all of them and now one is a hardware dedicated button to Fn so I can't remap it to other things.

@@directedinput Yeah, they swapped the Alt and Fn buttons. Considering that Fn is a button that doesn't do anything by itself and that you need to press it together with another button (in order to use it's alternative input), it makes perfect sense that the Fn was set in the rear, where you could use with the middle or ring finger. In any case, now that you mentioned, I've just realised that in this video, you're holding the gamepad like we usually hold a typical gamepad. However, typical gamepad are symmetrical while this gamepad is asymmetrical, so that's a wrong grip. They even posted a KZfaq video called _"The best way to hold the DarkWalker Shotpad keyboard mouse controller"._ By using the correct grip as they show in their video, it's very easy and confortable to press the side buttons. So if you still use the same grip as displayed in this video, I recommend checking out that video. About the gyroscope, I can't comment as my gamepad didn't arrive yet, but I think I read somewhere that it's possible to adjust sensitivity. I'm just not sure if we can do that for the trackpad, the gyroscope or both. If I find out, I will let you know.

I get why they put it back there, but to me those back buttons are high value and it didn't make sense to basically kill one off for the Fn button. Since I customize my controls on PC with reWASD anyway, I could have set one of the back buttons to be a modifier button if I wanted, but now I have no choice and that button is hardware set to be the Fn button so I really can't rebind it or use it for anything other than what they've set it to. That's my main gripe with that decision. I did see that video btw about the grip, and have tried to adjust it so I get more range on the touchpad. In the end I think I just end up going back to the normal grip just because it's more comfortable but again I don't really use this for shooters so maybe that's why. For me this is more a laid back kind of relaxed way to play tactical/strategy games so I'm not really trying to get the most out of the trackpad.

I think it's viable the only issue I had is the intermittent lag issue that comes with offical joycon that I was using, this however can be fixed by using third party joycon that don't have those issues

@@directedinput Thats unfortunate, the other brands are abit fatter and heavier I am not sure if they would fit well. Have you ever tried using the dual sense touchpad instead of the right stick in conjunction with Gyro ? its placement isn't ideal but perhaps its not as bad in practice as it sounds.

@@sumarhassoon9350 I haven't but I think that could work well. I am normally a ratcheting player so when using a dualsense I'd probably just go for a full ratcheting setup instead of touchpad + gyro, but I do think touchpad+gyro is better than stick+gyro

Have you tried any of the Funlab/ECHT/Eaxus styled joy cons? Wondering about the gyro on thoose. Seems to get good reviews overall but cant find any information on how they work on PC. I cant seem to get my original Joy cons to work good on my laptop. I get very eretic lag spikes and when it starts it doesnt go away. i have tried with BT dongle (Asus BT500) with extension cable but it doesnt solve it. Any tips?

I have not used Funlab or Eaxus but I do use ECHTPower Joy-Con regularly and they work great. They are the fat binbok styled ones. I also have that issue with original official JoyCon. I now suspect that a firmware update caused the intermittent lag that they get when paired to PC, because when I first started using JoyCon over a year ago I had no issues with them. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to downgrade firmware on them, but I mainly use third party Joy-Con anyway so it's not that big a deal for me.

Think i will go for the Ipega Sw006. Its a gamble but they look like a slim version ( like bin bok slim) but with a back button. Fingers crossed!

I got last week. Form factor fits me perfect. Unfortunately it doesn’t work. Thing is it shows up ( and connects) as “Joy con L/R “ but the icon is that of a mouse and keyboard, not a controller ( in BT settings) Wgven connecting to Rewasd it correctly shows as Joy Cons and you can rumble the devices, but you cant get a single input to register ( or gyro). To bad as it fittet my hand like a glove. Have orderd the rebranded Binboks now.

No gyro in the controller, at the beginning of the video I show I stuck a JoyCon to the back of it for gyro

@@directedinput By the way, which gyro mode would you consider more accurate for mouse cursor control? Ratchet (cursor moves only when the gyro senses movement) or Tilt (cursor moves when the gyro senses tilt from the dead-zone)?

What peeves me the most is that the ShotPad's analog sticks are hardwired to WASD instead of having the option to output analog stick movement. But let's be frank, sticking a JoyCon on the back and calling it a "mod" was hilarious

That's exactly how I wanted it, it's better to purely emulate m/kb than poorly try to find a middle ground with controller inputs + mouse like the Steam controller did. There is only one analog stick btw

that is most likely because of the consoles. i dont think console games that support mouse and keyboard will also support mixed inputs. Mixed inputs means that mouse and keyboard and controller are active at the same time. so walkign with the analog sticks and aiming or turning the camera at the same time would not work. Doing it like this ensures all console games that have keyboard and mouse support are able to be played with the pad. I just spoke to someone on their support team to aks about the gyro version. the problem on pc is going to be that you can adjust the sensitivity of the gyro on rewased or steam, because it is seem as a mouse and keyboard. So on steam you can adjust the gyro sensitivity on steaminput seperate from the ingame settings. since the mouse has no gyr this will not be as usable as a steamcontroller or dualsense or nintendo pro controller on pc. For console it would be great to have gyro as a mouse.

In reWASD click the gyro icon's 4 quadrants to change which direction of mouse they go to, so to reverse Y axis then click the top one and change it to Mouse Down and the bottom one and change it to Mouse Up

Yes, the touchpad + gyro concept is pretty good on the Steam Controller already but I think the Shotpad has a better layout for the buttons and the touchpad itself

@@jesusjorgedominguezalfaro2209compré este control en oferta, es de calidad medía y el touchpad no es muy sensible, literal tienes que subir demasiado la sensibilidad en el juego para que funcione cómodamente, igual es divertido jugar con él, por cierto hice una modificación para tener gyro, le pegue con cinta adhesiva un 8bitdo sn30, solo cubrí la palanca con una tapa de Gatorade y encima coloque el pequeño control 😅 es cómodo.

For gyro and wireless sure, but I prefer the button layout and size of the touchpad of the Shotpad over the Steam controller. Apparently they are making a new one that has gyro and wireless included and in that case I think it will be the better controller

@@directedinput I don't have the cash for either lmao. I just grabbed some telescopic controller, tied some fabric over my phone which was inserted in it and connected it to my PC. I used it with reWASD along with my mouse. It works very well.
