The "window of tolerance" is a psychological concept used to describe a state of optimal arousal where an individual can effectively manage stressors and emotions. It refers to the range of emotional and physiological states within which a person is able to function effectively and feel regulated. When within this window, individuals can cope with stressors, think clearly, and engage in adaptive behaviors.
When someone is outside their window of tolerance, they may experience hyperarousal (feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or agitated) or hypoarousal (feeling numb, withdrawn, or dissociated). This often occurs in response to stress, trauma, or other challenging situations.
Improving the window of tolerance involves various strategies aimed at enhancing emotional regulation and resilience.

I was high jacked for a decade by taking an antipsychotic I was actually having an adverse reaction to causing both anxiety and chronically dangerous depression “ treatment resistant depression”. Also I have CFS/ME and idiopathic rhinitis. People with chemical sensitivity and have rhinitis the very latest research is showing it triggers the Anxiety receptors in the brain. For instance I freak out when I smell certain fragrances. Thought I was just being precious just turns out these receptors are being triggered.
