@@darthfaraam9735 in SWTOR as a whole. Kotor 2 really made me hate SWTOR. Kreia's story of who Revan really was and why he became a Sith Lord was what made me love Revans Character. The Sith were supposed to be this Empire to be feared. What we get in SWTOR is just normal star wars people. Revan and the Exile were too good for this game and they ruined them. Revan was supposed to be a Jedi who became a Sith Lord as a necessity to dominate the galaxy in order to prepare it for the invasion of the True Sith Empire. Instead what we got is mind controlling which is fine. But the actual Emperor we meet in SWTOR is laughable. The Exile was supposed to be a wound in the force, something unique while being the complete opposite to Revan. The book and SWTOR took away everything that made them special. SWTOR isn't a bad game, as long as you disregard anything KOTOR 1 and 2 from them. I loved KOTFE and KOTET and thought Valkorian was a great villain. But everything that Kotor 1 and 2 stood for is written off in SWTOR and it hurts.

@@barone8889 Kira Carsen, former lord Praven, the jedi strike team (though they'd be more like dark jedi than actual sith). Also others in other campaigns. The plaguemaster for the jedi consular and Nomen Karr for the sith warrior

@@floricel_112 Here is the issue. None of them has been a Master or at least Knight/Lord level in both sides. Kira never finished her Sith training. She ran away. So she is a Jedi. The Jedi Strike team did not become Sith willingly. One way or the other they were forced into it (Bragga followed the Emperor willingly but he was not a Sith). Lord Praven was a Lord but i doubt he was more than a Knight by the time we saw him in Corellia. So not sure if he counts or not. The Plaguemaster for JC was a former Jedi being brainwashed. Not a willing and trained Sith. And Nomen Karr was not a Sith. He fell to the Dark Side. But it takes far more than that to make someone a Sith.

@@floricel_112 you also have to realize that Revan was first a Jedi Knight then willingly used the Darkside and became the Dark Lord of the Sith, and then he became a Jedi Knight again. There is no other character like that, Lord Praven was a Sith first and then a Jedi.

He actually doesn’t die here. He’s the main villain of a later expansion alongside the Revanites / Revanchists, and then redeems himself by partaking in the destruction of the Emperor, where, alongside Meetra Surik, finds peace and becomes one with the force.

It's disappointing alot of people think SWTOR better than mod completed KOTOR II. KOTOR II has by far, the best writing of any Star wars game.

Shame it's an MMO and not a single player game, would've opened many options for storytelling and RPG elements.

Biggest mistake SWTOR ever made. The KOTOR references and the Revanites were good ideas. But bringing Revan himself.....huge bad move.

Nah. I find these characters were handled pretty well. I’m not a fan of how the Exile went but considering how most of her major wins are due to coincidences I’m not surprised.

This version had potential, and they squandered it by making him a reactionary killing machine. I'm pretty sure that if the devs HAD played KOTOR, they barely played two missions and then just watched a summary of the game.

@@cakeboss4194 yeah exactly. Revan is such a great character. Even in SWTOR he is amazing but nothing compared to how fantastic he truly was. They really should've taken more inspired from the games or even from the book would've been okay. In the book there are already two things that make that version better than everything in SWTOR: him manipulating and convincing Surge easily while being weakend, malnourished and drugged and the moment when he lokked at Bastilla and his child for hours together with Meetra

That's when you know a character is honest to god amazing. When you absolutely ruin them, and the ruined version is still great.

here's a star wars hot take for you: SWTOR DIDN'T RUIN Revan's character, and Revan was NEVER that interesting of a character. If anything, SWTOR is more faithful to who Revan was in KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2. In KOTOR 1, every npc describes Revan wise and powerful beyond anyone's understanding, but the Revan you play as couldn't be more a more generic light side or dark side character: they can either be pure and innocent or cartoonishly evil. Your light or dark side choices range from pure angel to "just the worst person imaginable". You can EITHER help these Romeo and Juliet style families put aside their differences and reconcile OR you can cause the deaths of EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. involved in that sidequest. Once you are revealed as Revan, you can either reject the person you once were (even calling yourself evil) OR you can fully embrace who you were and the dark side once more (while metaphorically laughing and twirling your nonexistent moustache). Not to mention those same npcs I mentioned earlier now going "you may have been Revan once, but are weak now. You are nothing. So weak, in fact, that I can take you down myself. Prepare to die!" or other such variations. KOTOR 1 itself was a typical star wars adventure: the good guys were good, the bad guys were bad, and it was perfectly FINE the way it was. It didn't need to be so heavily retconned character wise (and even choice wise) as it was in KOTOR 2. And what KOTOR 2 did was overhype Revan further, giving him qualities that he didn't possess, traits that he didn't have or meaning behind his actions that wasn't there in the first place. And no one embodies this better than Kreya herself, who might as well be Revan's no.1 biggest cheerleader/hyperwoman and who can't help but go "umm, acktyualy, Revan never really FELL to the dark side. I was a conscious and deliberate decision on his part because he knew that's what was needed of him at the time oh and also he was power incarnate". It DOESN'T WORK if the person you're talking about like that ISN'T THERE to confirm or deny your claims!

And none of your arguments were even relevant to the immediate discussion. Yes, Star Wars is by and large written very black-and-white. That's besides the point, and there's further depth to the setting beyond whatever's focused around a series character. The fact that you're getting bent out of shape in YT comments tells me that you need to step back and reevaluate exactly what you consider necessary to your continued enjoyment of the franchise, and reconsider how you approach communicating with other people. Giving a nearly four paragraph 'explanation' of why you THINK Revan's a terrible character for allowing player choice is what I'd call fucking wasteful. Give your two cents, not your whole damn fortune. You'll last longer that way.

It’s the best Star Wars game ever. People shit on it for being a wow clone and not being faithful to Kotor 2, but the game has so much fucking content and so many amazing Star Wars stories to choose from it’s unreal. You should really give it a shot. It’s free

@@bigbyw0lfyea954 I would say the biggest issue with the writing is that they didn’t keep the idea of Revan willingly turning to the dark side to strengthen the republic. But the Revan we face in swtor is a broken husk of what he once was. Any of the prompts to call him a mad man is rather fitting.

@@zepho100 this isn’t even all of Revan, in Revan’s dedicated expansion it’s revealed at the end what we see here is a shadow so to speak, basically through the torment of the Emperor Revan split in two, this is a weakened version of himself that embodies only Revan’s darkness while the other half got most of his light He comes back into his own at the end after losing to a powerful Operation
