MPC / Round2 is re-releasing the classic MPC Darth Vader's Tie Fighter. For this 2022 release they've upgraded many of the original parts to make them more accurate, inlcuding the Darth Vader figure.

I had not been aware of the updates. I’ll have to pick up another one as I have the vintage one in the stash.

It looks to me like you have nailed the colour pretty much spot on - nice one.

I just rebuilt my Darth Vader's TIE Fighter 6 months ago. It was sitting in storage for over 38 years with my other models in cardboard boxes. The models were mostly in pieces and I thought that the wings on the TIE Fighter were lost. I painstakingly recreated them to scale with foam art board and moldable plastic. It took a long time and took a lot of effort. And then I looked inside this box a couple of months ago and found the original wings...

Lol did you replace the ones you made?
@bobbyrice2 жыл бұрын
@@Ferrislilly After all that work? Hell no. I just left the original TIE wings sitting confusingly at the base of the model. Every time I look at it I still get very confused.

Very nice build and review. It's nice to see some of the improvements that they have made to update this kit a bit. I'm actually building the original kit now, and I have a couple small points of clarification about the original kit in refence to your build here and the unboxing video previous. The canopy frame is actually the same piece as in the new release (surprisingly nice detail for the era), and equally surprising was the recessed panel lines on a kit this old. Next in line for the bench after this is an original Imperial Shuttle kit, and it unfortunately has the traditional raised panel lines. The last thing was that the original kit does actually include a base stand in addition to the landing gear. The stand is round like the new one, but much smaller and less stable. If you look at the image of the underside of the vintage kit that you show at around the 11:30 mark in your unboxing video, you can see the small rectangular opening just behind the bottom hatch where the original stand inserts into the Tie.

05:30 When you make yours, to avoid tearing up the edges, it’s probably better not to rip the pieces off the spruce 😝

Very cool! Nice paint job, good match to the original! Lighting would have been a nice touch! Happy days and model on! 😎

I have the Hasbro "Darth Vader TIE Fighter Toy that I have been re-working to be "Studio Accurate" and will also include Lights and Sounds and will still be usable with the 3 3/4 scale Star Wars DV Figs. THIS is my "HOLY GRAIL" Star Wars Ship! :D

Nice build. I built the old boxing with the clear "in flight" disc and put a single red LED in the cockpit. They fixed some of the issues which is good

Great build, thanks for sharing. I just ordered one a couple of days ago and I'm looking forward to building it on my channel as well. Also, I just found your channel and subbed. Looking forward to watching more of your content. Have a great day. -David

For an old kit the Tie advanced isn't bad. Plus it's very handy if you want to make a Tie Bomber.

There are already 3d printed kits of the Tie Bomber. I built 2 of them with lighting. One is on a diorama base and the other is just on a custom made base. It is detailed as well as a Bandai kit and is a very impressive model.

Not adding the clear part seems a bit odd to me but it's your model.

Thanks, great build. I was thinking about possible weathering ideas. How about right after the Death Star blew up? I'm sure his ship got a little scorched and hit with debris.

thanks for inspiring me to build one. Great work!

According to the comics (supposedly canon) Vader crash landed on the planet Vaan after the deathstar exploded. Might be fun to make a diorama of that scene. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iKtlqMyTuM3cg40.html
