Lucie, I'm now 81 yrs old - and I saw the "original" I LOVE LUCY shows. It was the beginning of television - an innocent time in America. Your mom and dad were AMAZING -- comics, performers, entertainers - and so talented. They gave America decades of great memories. I remember seeing you and your brother on various talk shows decades ago -- and enjoyed it all. Today - there's little talent, little entertainment - young people are really missing out.

What you say is so true. I’m 64 and grew-up watching I Lo🫶🏻e Lucy, Andy Griffith and all the other magnificent amazing shows of the 50’s - 80’s (+ some 90’s) was the greatest times when it was GOOD entertainment like I just said in another comment my brothers and I we didn’t have computers, cellphones and video games back in those times. I truly miss those times family huddled together around the good 0le’ fashioned B&W Television watching I Lo🫶🏻e Lucy and other shows but Lucy was The Best I never got tired of watching her and still watch her on a daily basis. And I Loved and Adored those who played Fred and Ethel Mertz (Btw, here’s a [True Fact-Check] about William Frawley & Vivian Vance, Rumors have been said for yearsss they did NOT like each other at all which is so true, so much that when Vivian heard News of his passing in 1966’ she was @ a restaurant having a meal she called out to everyone - “Everyone, Drinks on ME” William (Bill) was known to not be a nice man offscreen in real life, he was an alcoholic but he never drank when recording on the set. He had tremors regarding to his drinking while recording on the set is why he was known to always hiding his hand especially his righthand in his pocket. To: William Frawley, Vivian Vance, Desi and Lucy may You 🫶🏻🙏🛐💐R.I.P.💐🛐🙏🫶🏻 💕❤💕❤💕❤💕❤💕 I LO💕E LUCY

It resonated with me when Lucie said as she aged she became more understanding and forgiving of her parents. This is what adulthood should be. Stepping back and seeing her parents without the disappointments and hurts of Childhood or at least seeing them as human beings in the context of their lives. This happened to me as I finally let go of my judgements of my mom especially and saw her from a different perspective. Letting go of anger is a healthy thing to do and looking on others with compassion is a gift we should all give to ourselves.

I met Lucie in the early 70s. I worked as a cocktail waitress in a lounge in the San Francisco Airport. She was with another woman who I seem to remember was a beauty queen and beautiful. However, I was totally gobsmacked by Lucie's beauty, her grace and kindness. To this day she remains, in my opinion, the most beautiful famous woman I've had the opportunity to meet. 💜

I know the odds of Lucie reading this comment are infinitesimal, but I say to her and to anyone within the "sound" of my typed "voice", not only WAS your mother a national treasure, she still IS a national treasure. I dare say if humankind is still around in 1,000 years from now, Lucille Ball will STILL BE our national treasure. I sleep almost every night with an episode on repeat on my DVD collection (I have all six amazing seasons). Certain episodes feel cozier to me and actually are a comfort to me during these very uncertain and unprecedented times in our lives. Lucie, your personality and intelligence puts me in mind a bit of my cousin's girlfriend. You and your brother have always been very gifted and talented in your own right. Indeed the apples did not fall far from the trees. And Desi Arnaz, such an absolute genius. That he never won an Emmy is downright sinful. Not only his acting, not only his singing and dancing, but the vision he had, way ahead of his time, from the three camera technique to owning the show and having it filmed instead of on Kinescope. Theirs is a legacy that will last forever, and theirs is a legacy that deserves to, right up there with Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley I dare say.

as someone who started watching I Love Lucy as a child, I have found that it has seeped into my brain and lodged as a permanent part of me. I refer to it on a regular basis and more than one time in my life I have found myself in a situation that mirrored an ILL scene. Example: I once had the pleasure of meeting Phil and Don Everly before a show. I had been escorted to a building near the summer tent where the stage was and was left standing. I was facing a rear door and turned my head around to chat with a couple that had also walked in. I was blah blah blah-ing about something and then had a funny feeling.............suddenly I was Lucy poolside with a sleeping Van Johnson................I turned my head back to the front where they were both staring at me.... and I did my best "ewwwwwwwwwwww". They laughed. Of course they did, Lucy is always funny.

I've watched I Love Lucy since very early childhood. My mind instantly connects to warm memories when I even first hear the intro music! I think I've watched every single episode at least a dozen or more times and will continue to do so! Lucy, Desi, Fred and Ethyl always work their magic to make me laugh and calm my nerves!😉💜 Both Lucy and Desi were genius, each in their own way. I truly believe this sitcom will Still be shown many years from now when I, and others posting here, are no longer on this earth. Yes, it is THAT Iconic!!😉😎

@@bunnyoneful The whole show is built around the friendship that exists between the two couples. (Even though it's kind of odd that one couple is the other couples landlord? Lol.😁) And I love that the petty arguments and disagreements are written into the show as well! It reflects real life, with the hurt egos, ect. And then when both couples let down their guards and reach out and make-up with each other is wonderfully touching and heart warming!😊💓 And of course Lucy and Ethel are each other's true bossum buddies for life, thru thick and thin, come hell or high water!!😉😎

I love looking at Lucie Arnaz and listening to her talk. She has such a beautiful blend of her parents' features. The San Fernando Valley blog has great historical photos of the Desilu Ranch, at the corner of Devonshire and Corbin, now totally obliterated by a housing development. In the photo, Lucy is in the swimming pool lifting toddler Lucie up out of the water. It's such a perfect, frozen in time moment. I also grew up in the old Valley, a couple of years ahead of Lucie.

Lucy was likely a hateful racist. After watching episode after episode, I haven't seen a single black person on that show (although that alone doesn't make the case for "race"). But in the 1950s? Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure she was a quite rabid and virulent. Well then again, it's highly likely that YOU are too. 🤔 The possibility of this being true of any randomly picked white American, is always a winning bet.

In fairness, aside from both being insanely talented, I think both her parents were decent, down to earth people who loved each other until their dying days (doesn't matter they both moved on to happy marriages). I think her parents stature might have opened a door to different behaviors, but I think they taught her the value of respect, being humble, and treating others correctly. The fact Lucie is spreading credit around proves that. So I'm not surprised she turned out as well as she did.

Lucy & Desi were amazing each in their own right. Together, they blew it out of the water. I so appreciate that Lucy Jr gifted the world with the documentaries on her parents lives & relationship. Lucy & Desi truly truly loved each other, respected each other, regardless.......sometimes tragically, love just isn't enough to keep a relationship going. I always admired them both for continuing to respect and care each other even after they divorced. I can't wait for the next documentary.

I think Lucy and Desi truely loved their children and grandchildren. I also agree, they seemed to have stayed on good terms after their divorce. I think sometimes when two type 'a' personalities form a union, it can be hard for it to work, both of them being driven and perhaps headstrong. I remember Lucie saying her dad told her before he died "Tell your mom, she was the only woman I ever really loved". Which I thought was so touching and kind of heart rending, but a beautiful thing to admit and say.

The Ben Mankiewicz TCM podcast, The Plot Thickens - Lucy, is extraordinary. There's 10 episodes and 4 or 5 bonus episodes. It's the most comprehensive and moving presentation of this couple and their lives that I've ever heard. It's also incredibly moving, I was moved to tears by a couple of the episodes. The I Love Lucy show and the Lucy shows that followed are so fun, aren't we lucky to get to hear about the family from Lucie? We are! And if you want a fun little nugget with Desi, look for the "Alice" sitcom episode that he guest starred in. Had some of the same writers as I Love Lucy. His guest starring role is very clever and fun and reveals again how talented he was.

Watching this there is only love and admiration. I'm thinking Lucie has mellowed and later in the talk she is saying how she has changed is in being more forgiving. For all their various family issues this was one classy, impressive Hollywood family. Lucy was solid and the clan is in part a representation of her. Any talk of Lucy/Lucie, the Desis always makes me feel good.

Finally, after hearing hundreds of interviews with Lucie, where she sounds angry and was full of resentment towards her mom, yet, speaks fondly of her dad and her stepmother, I do hope she understands her mom's choices and that she had a reason to be in control all the time.

@@turboredcart Agree. And to be fair I think Lucie had legitimate complaints. Lucille Ball ran tight ship and was not always easy to deal with. The kids were not spoiled either.

@@m.e.d.7997 Yep. Desi had the brains of production but Lucy was always at the helm. But somebody had to be in control of navigating thru the often turbulent and unknown waters! Bottom line is Lucy was a Totally sharp and shrewd Business Woman. (And at a time when that was rather a rarity!!😉)

I listened to the radio interview tapes that Ms. Arnaz mentions on SXM last year. Very interesting listening. Ms. Arnaz seems to be a wise and interesting woman and these film treatments of her parents are fascinating.

Lucie Arnaz is one of those celebrities that I would totally freak out if I ever ran into her or met her. I mean I’d cry and scream. I’m such a fan of the show I Love Lucy. I mean our two cars are named Lucy and Ethel. 🤣 I was 4 years old when Lucille Ball passed away. I wish I could have been around when the show was on. However, I have the entire series to enjoy.

I feel so privileged to have been of age to watch them on TV and was mesmerized. They were truly ahead of their time and were in fact Trail Blazers. Plus Lucie worked but also ran a household which was what women in her day did first and foremost. It certainly wasn’t easy, I would imagine.
