Dude is so nice too. My uncle used to work with him here in NC and I would see him from time to time. He was always super humble and nice when he was in Absent Element (I think) and after he blew up was still so effing nice .

Nice! Loved singing this song in a former 90's tribute band. Just Daughtry covering this iconic tune shows his mad respect to the late great L Staley. Not a easy song to cover btw. Great job guys!

Best cover I've ever heard of AIC with the harmony vocals and everything, yet there's still people trolling the comments saying Layne Staley shouldn't be covered... so we're just supposed to not try to play and sing some of our favorite songs ever? As for me, I'm gonna go try to play every part myself to their unplugged album. And anyone else that feels like singing it, sing it. Do it. Y'all really act like Layne popped out of his momma singing like "Jesus Christ, Deny your maker" 😉

Basically this is how it sounds when a great voice sings the song, without any demons. All the notes are there, but none of the feeling. All of the words, but none of the meaning. Without Layne's torment, it's almost like it's being sung in a different language.

A brutal but highly accurate assessment. I’m not sure Layne was ever happy the poor man. But without wanting to romanticise what was a tragic waste of talent. The angst, heroin and turmoil was as important as the voice.

Layne was not of this world. We all know this… His talent was a gift from God and Satan took that gift and left us with grieving someone who is irreplaceable however there is a young man who sounds a lot like him. Laynes octave range was insane how he used his vocal chords. Not too sure any musicians did what he did… Maybe he will return with the second coming at least that’s what the prophet says…

He's not my cup of tea but I can't deny that he's a good singer. It was hard to hear him clearly so that probably contributed to me not feeling much. When I hear the original, I get goosebumps that feel like something is trying to escape through my skin. I get it's personal preference, but I didn't feel a damn thing from this.
