I agree. My hubby Was a mate of Dave's, as a teenager, and also when he was older. He said Dave would showoff, with his diving to impress the girls 😂 He came around to hubby's place, and had arranged an interview for him, as an apprentice electrical engineer. Hubby took it on, but his Mum and Gran could not afford the books, and wage was low. He left and became a carpet/layer. Hubby was good at playing the guitar, he went to the royal College of music, Cardiff, for a bit. We meet Dave when he came to Australia, he hadn't changed, and never forgot my hubby. We went to his concert, invited to the after party 👍, but we had 3 young children at the time, so couldn't go. Good memories 👍

Only just seen and read this hence the late post. An incredible guy from my home town who I briefly met many many years ago in the 60's. I've also known of and met some of the local guys that played in his bands. As have been said, a talented, brilliant underrated guitarist who had been involved as a musical director and producer and has collaborated with top class musicians and bands. He also played the role of Alex in the 1974 film Stardust along with David Essex, Paul Nicholas, America's Larry Hagman and other British stars and yes, he definitely should be in the Musicians Hall of Fame.

The "Sabre Dance" is a movement in the final act of the Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian's ballet Gayane, completed in 1942. It evokes a whirling war dance in an Armenian dance, where the dancers display their skill with sabres. Due to its exceptionally exciting rhythm, the Sabre Dance established a place for itself in common concert practice, leading also to various adaptations in popular music. In its middle section it uses an Armenian folk song from Gyumri, Armenia. (Thanks, Wikipedia)

Picture this: Summer 1969, English secondary school summer fair. Parents cosying up to teachers, everyone buying raffle tickets and eating fairy cakes in the sun and little kids chasing each other round the playing field then some idiot put me and my 12-year-old class mate in charge of playing music through the huge pa system they'd set up . . . so I cranked up the volume and played this! One minute we were freak-dancing our tits off while middle-class women were running around with their hands over their ears screaming and the next minute the plug got pulled out of the wall and I got a whack on the head from the deputy head. Couldn't understand why everyone was so pissed at us, totally awesome track then and now! True story. I've got my fingers crossed that when I get to the other side it'll be '69 every day

Still blows my head off. I WAS AT THIS SHOW. There were several fantastic players as I recall but I specifically went to see Dave Edmunds. Dickey Betts Brian Setzer David Gilmour were among the musicians at this guitar oriented event. God damn I was young partying in Europe but everybody had such a great time. The people I was with were not as familiar with Dave as I was as I have been a lifelong Rockpile fan. I was telling my buddies that everybody else was great yeah but David was was the master of Masters. They scoffed as David Gilmour was also involved not that I don't love David Gilmour because I do but David is my Guitar Hero. However by the end of the event my American friends were well-schooled in the bizarre fact that a welchman is the best rock & roll guitar player.
