Yea but - Slayer retired. So kinda pointless now; Dave was right for Slayer. Thing is, when any musician leaves a band, fans pick at the new guy, like, you're not as good etc. Not the point. The replacements play THEIR way, not how someone else plays. Every drummer, guitarist etc has their own feel and groove. Cant emulate, only play as you hear it. Feel is a big part. All depends how the new guy 'feels' it. At least with replacement musicians we still get new music and bands carry on yet as for Slayer they now RIP. Maybe, just maybe - one day - Tom whacks on his bass and says fuck it, one big ass show just for the sake of it but they wont return and make new music impo.

i have only seen him live with Fantomas. To me, that was absolute proof of his technical ability. Listening to Slayer albums is one thing, but to see him expand in jazz, etc.... live? i was thoroughly convinced. i would love to see a Lombardo/Rieflin live duet.

In Grip Inc and Fantomas he shows a different style and approach. Check those bands out if you haven't yet and you'll be surprised. "Unfortunately", Slayer is Slayer, so there's only so much he could do on those albums.
