Dave's recent tweet mentioned that his sister will be passing away soon, and he hasn't spoken with her beloved sister for 20 years due to her religious beliefs and the fact that she didn't want to have anything to do with him. In this video, I discuss this and the stigma and misinformation surrounding the metal community.

@@mr.sorenzo thank you \m/ it bloody sucks, a year ago my dad passed, he didn't die of dementia, but he did have it before he passed, He died of a stroke I feel for dave and i have also have problems in my family just like this RELIGION IS BULLSHIT METAL IS REAL it always was and always will be. We started this shit back in the day for this specific reason, To not be fake To not be a poser To be real with yourself and others Religion is as fake as it gets (Speaking from one who was once and ordained minister for 20 years) METAL IS REAL (After 50 years, i've learned that) and our Metal family is real. A Christian walks up to a christian in the street, they greet, perhaps they trust each other perhaps not. Metalhead walks up to a metalhead (well, we all know how this goes don't we) Best mates instantly. We wish dave all the best

When you have a serious conflict with family, it's very difficult to not cut them out of your life like you would with other people. I would urge anyone reading this to let it sit for a while and try to mend bridges. Family is the most important thing in your life. You can't really help it if your family does this to you despite your protests, but you can control your end of the relationship by not fueling the conflict. I just had a brother pass last week and I'm glad that I was able to keep things civil with him despite our differences and tell him that I love him. I would have felt absolutely horrible if things ended the way they would have ended had I let my anger get the best of me.

Mainstream media and giant corporate entities AKA record labels, have long perpetuated and forced bubblegum pop (and now rap) down our throats because it’s lifeless and doesn’t take brains to get it to sell. Just a “hook” is enough to drive album sales / song streams and that’s all that matters. Not saying ALL pop is bad, but the masses eat it up like Mountain Dew and Doritos without giving it a second thought. I’ve always been of the belief that metal in general is more meaningful and has more heart than most music out there. After all, how many metal bands are being handed a sheet of music and / or lyrics and told to play it, and they will come lol NOT MANY. Most of it is written from the heart, with a collection of ideas and input, so it just makes sense. Long story short, pop is the “cheerleader/QB” of music and metal is the outcast, hence the labels and hate. F the music industry!

I mostly agree with you. I just realized what you said explains really well why metal has such loyal and dedicated listeners. It feels and hits differently because of its authenticity and like you said, coming from the heart. I actually find a lot of rap records the same way. Definitely not all (not the ones that get pushed out and forced on everyone everywhere).

It's called bigotry and it's still running rampant. You can't cure human stupidity, it'll always be there. What we have to do is just ignore those people or, if they're family, "change the subject" and not focus on this topic.

There's a metal subculture, like it or not. It's based on music and it's what we all share in common. There's lots of them like the punk rock subculture, goth subculture and so on and so forth. There's nothing wrong with it. If it's not your cup of tea then don't be part of it. Let the rest of us enjoy it. Musical types are like the icing on the cake of musical notes and rhythm which is like the building blocks of music. The genres are like the outside of the house and still as real as the building blocks are. If we want to use a label it's our business not yours.

@@NAlvazaz I agree with most of you said. I’ll just add one more bit: if the members of the subculture start trashing the members of the other subculture it’s an issue. Specially it it results in breaking a good p2p bond. That’s all I said. Can you agree with this?
@NAlvazaz
@NAlvazaz 3 ай бұрын
@mr.sorenzo oh for sure. I can agree with that. There's no need to really be mean or put anybody down from another subculture or even your own. I might tease people for liking death metal because I love thrash, but it doesn't mean I'll disown anybody for enjoying death metal. I love my offspring too much for that. 😁 (I still think death metal isn't fast enough, lol) Anyway, we're all human and are more similar than different.

I feel no joy or glee in hearing it, but as for Dave, as a guy... he is a jerk and treats fans like crap. Everyone in my family is deceased and I have no children... I'm leaving this casualty in Mustaine's family alone. I will never rescind my criticisms against Dave knowing what I know and experienced from the guy 20 years ago and him expecting me to give him money so I could get a pic or autograph or go screw myself... I'm not the only one who experienced it. Yeah, I loved all his first 3 albums and really don't care for much after So Far, So Good... So What?!... Dave will hopefully humble himself or be a better person to people who just wanted to say Hi and ask for a pic and autograph than telling the people who bought his albums to screw themselves. And that was putting it lightly from his own choice verbiage 20 years ago.

@NAlvazaz
@NAlvazaz 3 ай бұрын
I feel bad that happened to you and I'm sure it sucked big time that he behaved that way towards you and you would hope he would be a better person. I am mentioning the following only due to hoping to prevent further disappointment with other celebrities because Mustaine isn't the only one like that. However, it's not many celebrities that treat fans exactly like they want to be treated so I am aware of this and don't have high expectations for any of them. OTOH, there's always two sides to every story and unless you are there you can only try to guess at what actually happened in any given moment and make your mind up from that. If you expect that they will nickel and dime you you won't be disappointed but you will have that much more appreciation for celebrities who aren't like that. That said, OTOH people can and do change. Again, it depends but I can't speak for everybody. Sometimes, some people feel a need to treat everything down to a autographed photo as a business transaction and I get that from Dave. He's a businessman for sure. That's why he got to where he's currently at. He knew how to do that from a young age and it is admirable except if it's taken too far (being taken too far is wrong though but some people have no problem with it). Back to the reasons this happens with bad behaving celebrities... The reason for this is that with high creativity it often corresponds to mental illness, or disorders. Two conditions correlate with high creativity and that's Bipolar disorder and ADHD. Both conditions can be quite moody unless it's properly treated. Sometimes people don't because people assume it'll damage creativity which it does not if you are properly medicated. Another thing is the fact that just like with everybody else who's not a celebrity, people often suffer trauma especially in show business. It's common to come from dysfunctional homes and these people often never learn proper social or people skills and they don't know how to treat others as a result (money is all they care about and it's sad). Dave also was an asshole before (when younger) due to his drinking and I assume drugs as well. That's not to say he hasn't tried to change his ways. I like to believe he has at least tried to change and become better, but people aren't always going to be as far along in their journey as you'd expect them to be. I think as long as people try and improve when compared to themselves before and are successful with that, then it's all good. Some people like saying that people with red hair tend to have more of a fiery temper but I think it's more the alcohol and drugs that did it. I don't think that if someone is still completely rotten (I don't believe this 100% applies to Dave) that they are above criticism (call them out, it's okay), but at the same time we need self-care and if possible stay away from those who would treat us badly. At least I try to do that for myself. I admire people from a distance for their musical talent and try not to focus on anybody being some sort of role model or a rock god. Musicians, or actors, etc are people too. I used to idolize people when I was younger and got disappointed so many times and also each and every time but with any person not celebs. Ultimately nobody's perfect so everybody will let you down at some point and you'll do that to others as well. Anyway, sorry the above is so long. Have a good day. .
