You are a wizard Dave. I started using the resin/talc technique after watching your videos, and my sword of omens is coming along nicely, with a lot less hassle. Using resin and mesh to strengthen the seams? Brilliant. Can’t wait to give it a go.

Ya, it was a after thought but I had high hopes for it. I think if the visor didn't distort the image so much it would have worked, but then again I wasn't expecting the visor to come out so clear :)

Very interesting project, well done. I raelly liked the video except when you didn't have gloves on and touched the project while painting. Do yourself a favor and get some 3mm gloves if you need to touch it to see how smooth it is. No matter how clean your hands are they still have body oil on them. The project came out great. Thank you for sharing. I like it with the face.

Great work Dave, I know how much work is involved in doing helmets having done a Blue Beetle and Iron man helmet myself with the sanding being especially very time consuming when doing FDM prints.

Can you do a drop test of baby power resin vs resin only on a 3D print?. If resin cracks will propogate over more simulated damage strikes. I am very curious about this.
@DaveRigDesign
@DaveRigDesign 7 ай бұрын
A few people have asked this on other videos. I can look into it. My guess is the resin would just create small crack lines and possibly flake off at the impact point.

With face but put some extra filter in front of face so it's less visible in the light and only if you look closely you can see her

So what your saying is add the face but blur the screen so you can’t see it :)

@@DaveRigDesign Yeah, that could work. Something that gives depth and mystery of the wearer - focus is largely on helmet so face details shouldn't be that clearly visible.

So I have a 50w 395nm UV light and using sunlu ABS like water washable resin.. when I apply and try to cure it stays wet. Like nothing happens... what am I doing wrong? Should I get a more basic resin?
@DaveRigDesign
@DaveRigDesign 5 ай бұрын
What is the nm your resin cures at. My elegoo resin cures at 405nm and I think that is normal for most. So the issue could be your light is at the wrong wavelength.

@LelandHasGames ABS it tough unless you have an enclosed printer. I would stick to pla if your just starting out until you get the hand of thing, it’s way easier to work with.

Hi Great video! I prefer the faceless version too. I was wondering what the baby powder used for? I'm looking to smooth pla or worbla with tinted resin as well but am concerened about inhibition or tacky feeling resin. The sponge looks really useful too. Have you found a way to clean or reuse the sponge? Any information would be really appreciated. Thanks!
@DaveRigDesign
@DaveRigDesign 7 ай бұрын
Thanks :) The powder just thickens the resin so it coats better and makes it easer to play it where you want and it not running everywhere. I have a earlier video comparing resin with and without powder kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i6yClbeYmJ24lGw.html To deal with the tacky feeling, after curing I just wipe down the model with isopropyl alcohol and that takes care of it. For the sponge brush, they are so cheap I just throw them out. I was able to keep the same brush for multiple days though but it was starting to fall apart. Basically you can use the same brush for a while as long as it's not exposed to UV light.

Really cool video! (Possibly) stupid question: Is it possible to airbrush resin?
@DaveRigDesign
@DaveRigDesign 7 ай бұрын
I've heard people talk about it and that it is super dangerous if you don't take the proper safety precautions. Spraying resin into the air doesn't sound fun. You would need a full protective suit and enclosed area. Also its too thick to spray so not sure what happens to is if you thin it. Sounds like a bad time all the way around :)

Well I don't wear gloves when I use a fork and knife and manage to not get my dinner all over my hands. It's Resin, not uranium. If your not physically touching it, gloves don't do anything to protect you. People need to use common sense when working with different products and not wrap everything in bubble wrap. If everything is super dangerous then nothing is.
