Great video, man. I watched this a few months ago to hold me over while waiting for my own beamo to come in. Well, it's finally here, and I'm back to brush up on the tips you shared. Glad I did, this was a great "get up and go" into. I read the manual, but it's still nice to see it done in real life. Much appreciated for the helpful video.

Hi...your video was the most comprehensive I've seen to date. I just set up my Beamo and I'm brand new to laser printing, cutting...Where on earth do you find tutorials on how to do this stuff with this particular machine? I want to engrave Yeti tumblers. Ihave the rotary add on...and after 6 hours last night I gave up because I can't figure out how to get the rotaries to turn. I would appreciate any help or videos or a direction on where I can learn this stuff.....Thanks for a great video!!
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Adrienne Mignano I don’t have the rotary module for the beamo. But I do for the Beambox. There is a setting in the app to turn on the rotary module which then activates those parts of the software.

@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Nolwenn Pellet Yes, you can adjust the fan speed. I’ve never needed to do it but you can. Running it averages about 80dB which is a bit loader than a home vacuum.

Awesome video! I was thinking about ordering one to make wooden jewelry with. Is this powerful, reliable enough to make wood cuts? Compared to the Glowforge or the beam box pro 40w laser is it significantly less powerful or does it do pretty much the same stuff just slower? Thanks for the help.
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Black Philip Thanks 👍 The beamo is a 30w laser while the beambox is a 40w and the pro is a 50w. I also own the 40w Beambox. This laser should have no issue cutting 1/8” wood like butter. You may be able to get a little thicker but 1/8” is still pretty good. The GF is a decent device but I’m not a fan of being locked into their proprietary online only service.
@blackphilip48314 жыл бұрын
@@DavGlass thanks for the quick reply. In your opinion is the 40W worth the extra money? Will also need to engrave on glass. I just don’t want to be disappointed with the 30W, but obviously if I can get away with saving a G I will. This would all be a no brainer if I didn’t just miss the Kickstarter for $900 and now have to pay the $1500. Thanks again!
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Black Philip Honestly, it all depends on the size of material you want to work with. If you are doing smaller items then the Beamo will be perfectly fine. If you need to do larger items and have the space then the beambox os better. The beambox is nearly twice the size of the beamo in footprint. If you check out my Instagram I have a few photos of them together on the same table.

Hi Dav! Awesome video on the Beamo! Wanted to ask in regards to engraving on a 3mm clear acrylic piece (I'm planning on engraving a menu on my acrylic piece) - is it possible to engrave while I keep the acrylic protective sticker on? To prevent scratches on the menu? Cheers :)
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Apologies that I didn't see this. Yes, I always leave the protective covering on. If it doesn't have one, I apply Oramask to it. This will help with over burn and keep the image nice and clean. One thing I do as well is burn the image in reverse on the backside of the acrylic, this way the front is nice and smooth.

So It's now The end of June and you have had the laser for a while. How do you still like it ? and downfalls to the laser and it being 30 watt? I'm thinking of buying one, I have a Chinese K40 laser but to get it lined up perfectly with the item in the laser is almost impossible. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thank You
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
My apologies on this, I totally didn't see it. I have both the Beamo and the Beambox. I like the Beamo for smaller items (keychains, lighters, etc) but usually default back to my Beambox for larger items as the deck is bigger and the focus is deeper. That said, the Beamo is still a fantastic desktop laser.

I think a Makeblock laserbox is much better built than this one---although it is 4X the price. This beamo thingy looks like a K40 unit with outer shell cosmetics and software upgrades. For $1,500++ you could get a regular top notch 30x50 cm Chinese laser with Ruida control. If I wanted to play around with autoscan and whatnot, I'd rather save up for the Makeblock.
