Great Video thanks it was just want I needed, I just had to replace mine for the first time after 375 hrs/2 year, I think the 42hr replacement of yours is confusing people and making them think the laser life is really bad on these.

I have been looking at getting the Beambox Pro but with such a short laser tube life I am having second thoughts. Considering the machine is going to cost $6,000 for the Pro version and $545 for the laser tube it's not cheap. The $ exchange rate really sucks here in Australia :(

Sorry for the delay, I totally didn't see this comment.. Please don't take my laser tube life in this video to heart, I did some really bad stuff to the tube (for testing) and it was running almost non-stop for 2 months cutting a massive amount of things that I don't normally cut. That said, the life can be up to 300+ - 600+ hours if you treat the tube right.

Hello sir do you have any detailed work to show on wood? I’m skeptical of the software I had a full spectrum laser the software was amazing but now it’s a 4800 paper weight. I have only found you online using this machine

Hi Dav Glass. I don't know if you know about Makeblock and FSL. These companies claim that their laser tubes are rated for 6000-10000 hours. Those numbers seem really high compared to the Beambox. What do you know about that?

There are several resellers. I get mine from The Ultimate 3D printer store out of Florida.

Hey Dav, Currently looking for a CO2 laser for home use to cut 3mm acrylic for my wifes cake business. I have enjoyed your indepth videos and would love to hear from you if you think this machine would work. We would be cutting translucent acrylic and some mirror acrylic with the machine.
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Steve Bott I’ve cut lots of acrylic with this machine. It’s great. In fact there’s a bunch online now that are making war savers for healthcare workers out of acrylic.
@SteveBott1234 жыл бұрын
@@DavGlass does it leave a clean cut on the edge ? also plywood to do cake toppers, can it cut "fine" shapes. Im finding it hard to see examples of it cutting acrylic and fine detail plywood currently.
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Steve B Yes, it’s a very clean cut. I’ve done acrylic and plywood. If you hit the project gallery on my website you can see some examples of what I’ve done.

Did you have to realign the mirrors when replacing the laser I see lots of folks who have to adjust them

You should test alignment after replacing the tube. I’ve only had to change it once the 2 years I’ve had mine.

So the previous laser tube lasted 42hrs of continuous runtime? About how long of a time period did you have the tube before you replaced it?
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Rgerrits99 Tubes can last 50-100 hours depending on what you are doing. Cutting takes a lot out of the tube and I’ve made 600 covid face shields with this tube and it’s all cutting. The last tube lasted me 100 hours because I did way more etching than cutting. 40 hours is actually quite a bit of laser time. That’s calculated when the laser is actually firing.
@EMOXX994 жыл бұрын
Dav Glass absolutely I’m sure. Thanks for the info. Just roughly how many days/weeks/months have you had tubes last?
@DavGlass4 жыл бұрын
Rgerrits99 My first tube lasted about a year. This one lasted 6 months. But again, I did a lot of cutting in Oct/Nov last year and have been cutting for 8-10 hours a day for the last month making face shields.

Dav Glass right on thanks for all the info!

Hej Dave, I see in your answers that 50 to 100 hours is normal for a tube. I will be replacing mine after only 10 hours of usage (got a replacement from flux). I had a lasercutter before and on this machine I got hundreds of hours of usage on a single tube. at least 300. And it died because it froze so maybe even more. Do you have experience with other brand lamps? I ordered another on Alibaba so I have 2 replacements at the moment. Would be interesting to see which one holds up best.

Hello, a question, I have a machine that has only 54 hours of use and it is stored for 1 year and now it seems to have no power, what do you think is the problem?
@DavGlass3 жыл бұрын
Have you changed the water? The tube could also be bad if it’s been stored that long.
@javierguzman60303 жыл бұрын
@@DavGlass If the water did change it and make sure it was well protected when storing it, what could be damaged?
@DavGlass3 жыл бұрын
@@javierguzman6030 Hard to say, but laser tubes can go bad just sitting there doing nothing for too long. Especially if there is a leak in the system. Even a small one.

Was thing of purchasing this unit but after seeing you only had 42 hours usage on your laser tube I think I'll give it a miss. In Australia the replacement tubes vary from $300 to $550 and 42 hours just seems like a joke.
@DavGlass3 жыл бұрын
The 42 hours on this was a bad tube. Don’t think this was normal usage. My beambox has more than 500 hours on its current tube. And the replacement for the beamo has more than 150 on it now.
