@NellSmith
@NellSmith 7 жыл бұрын
+Plan3tTyl3r Firstly: *WELL SAID!!* Best comment on this page which I've yet read (which is far from all! Haha) :) _/applause_ You are *SO* right. Yes, he was a true and virtuous gentleman (in the real sense of "virtue", not its usual, shallow, merely historical, temporal, and/or social (but, of course, very *useful)* sense: i.e. the sense or concept of virtue which covers: "Oh no! He/she/they/you are moral/immoral because he/she/they: do/don't drink, take drugs etc., do/don't support/oppose gay rights, feminism, and so forth, do/don't believe in [NB: the speaker's idea of...] God, do/don't have sex inside/outside of marriage, blah, blah" sense). A real, and rare, true gentleman he was, then, and more: the mortal man who was David Bowie. But he was so much more than *that,* too. That, as I have argued elsewhere on this page, and so I won't bore on and on about it, is far from *ALL* that either Bowie *OR* Gilmour either was (which applies to the mortal) or is (which applies to the Divine - that from which genius springs, and of which it is - and *NO* I do not mean *ANY* religion's idea of any kind of "God"... they are not so much all *wrong,* as they are all *right* - to a greater or lesser extent, of course - and yet, they *ALL* fall far, far short of any kind of true understanding - not of "God", or "gods", but of the truly Divine: that which simply *IS).* But I am wandering into my old field of theology... enough of *THAT...!!* Not the time *OR* the place... :D This I will say, though. True genius *IS* humble; it does not need to admire itself... and, as is certainly the case with Bowie and Gilmour - and who, but they, can say whether they even consciously (for the mind, too, is of the mortal realm...) "knew" this to be the case or not? - true genius *knows* itself - in the only sense in which *know* can even be *fully* comprehended (not solely by the mind) - when it meets, or even, from afar, sees itself. What does genius have to prove...?! Enough already. You said it so well. Bowie, the man, was a very, very great man. Bowie the genius will live forever. And Gilmour still remains to us: that is, to those of my generation who have had to watch each genius (of whom we even are aware!) - and they are few indeed, and terribly rare - being taken from us, one by one. It is almost unbearable; only spiritually is it bearable. In mortal terms, it is an unending grief. But their immortal genius lives on... and Gilmour yet lives amongst us, too. We have *ALL* been fortunate to have the gift of their genius, which *CAN* never die, to treasure and to give us our own glimpse of that which truly *IS* - and the knowledge that we have walked the Earth at the same time as them! :)

In one way you are correct. And in another not so. Yes, main stream music doesn't allow for creativity like in the 60's, 70's and 80's. but there many genres of music 90% of the world haven't heard. One of them Bhajans and Kirtan. Its the devotional music of Yoga. I can tell you after being involved in it personally as a musician for 25 years now, that its every bit as deep as Pink Floyd. Floyd was my favourite band as a teenager. but i am so glad the music of the immortal soul has found me. Check it out.

How have I missed this? The two greatest things to have happened to music on stage and performing such an unbelievably brilliant composition. I'm a little overcome.
