I had the pleasure of meeting Dave quite a few times over the years, I must say what a true gentleman he was. As a 16 year old lad - 40's now - he gave me his autograph for free as I did not have the £5. When I heard this news, I got something in my eye.

It’s amazing how even without his voice and look under the helmet, he contributed so much to the role with his body language and was loved by so many people across the world. It’s sad how not many people are grieving or acknowledging his death but the fact that there are still quite a few who are is so wholesome. His integral role in forming so many people’s hopes and joy cannot he understated. RIP Mr. Prowse. You lived a healthy and great life and hope you live happily wherever you are. May the Force be with you.

It's not a "thick welsh accent" he's from Bristol, west of England . An ancient English port city, you know where we speak like pirates , the west country accent that Samwise Gamgee tries to do in in LOTR ...Anyway RIP David Prowse, one of Bristol's finest sons xx

I'm glad I met him back in 1999 at a Sci-Fi convention in Plano, TX. I even got his autograph and photo of him. I will miss him very much. The force is strong with him in heaven along with Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Carrie Fisher.

Pulled escort duty MANY times for him over the years at many conventions while a part of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion costuming club. My fondest memories of this wonderful man was how he interacted with the fans. On one occasion helping a young soldier who was recouperating from an injury. The soldier asked Mr.Prowse for some advice on how to get back into shape and not re injure himself. Mr.Prowse told the young man to come behind the table and have a seat then spent the next several hours talking to this young man about weight training in between signing autographs.

Very sad news. Darth Vader was such a spectacular villain that he was played by three actors. David Prowse provided the body, James Earl Jones provided the voice and Sebastian Shaw the face.

His voice may not have been present, but beyond David Prowse’s considerable physique, his body _language_ -that menacing juggernaut’s stalk, those gestures-helped build the character, and assured the creation of an icon. It may be an unpopular view, but I do believe that James Earl Jones provided Vader with a perfect voice-a constructed voice for a physically and emotionally crippled man who sought to transcend his past and his limitations-but imagine for a moment, David Prowse, revealed at the end of the story. Carrie Fisher is quoted as calling Prowse “Darth Farmer” because of his accent and voice. But what of it? Luke Skywalker began as a moisture farmer, and to have seen the the former Anakin Skywalker return to the soil, so to speak, would have been especially poignant... I understand that David Prowse got to play that scene some years later as part of making of the documentary _I am Your Father_ ; the scene was only presented at a convention outside of the United States, but the scene itself was not presented in the documentary for rights reasons-we should have seen that scene before Prowse’s passing; but it would be a great tribute to David Prowse now...

There's a small family of actors in film that have played characters on a level... That has actually created cultures,changed societies,molded lives that watched those characters. Became Legends of lore... Even history has been steered by these moments created by these artists.. I don't think there's hardly anywhere in the world you wouldn't know about Darth Vader. David Prose belongs to an elite group of suit guys.... Just look at the suit guys made history in their characters: Darth Vader Godzilla.. Zenomoroh in Alien... The Predator... C3PO and R2D2.... King Kong... Outside of Alien... Darth Vader made the biggest impression of all.. Thank you David Prose for your efforts,you sold it every time,miss ya ,brother...

WOW!! I didn't know that David Prowse died!! I was just thinking of him yesterday. (11/30/2020) I guess that somehow I thought that he would be the next one to go since he was so old. Sad really. I always loved Darth Vader as a kid and now as an adult. He wouldn't be the same without David Prowse playing the part - no one on this earth could do it and be so convincing. He truly brought the character to life. He will be sadly missed by a lot of people not just me or those that knew him. Thank you for posting this for the rest of us.
