This is good stuff. In a world where technology is ruling, we all know some day it will either fail or be used as a weapon. These skills are life saving.

Shot my first handloads yesterday. It was a lot of fun and I loaded them a week in advance. I sealed mine with beeswax. T-shirt wadding.

If you're not in a hurry, the plain old white school glue works really good for this. A thin coat over the top and let it dry

After watching your 12ga break open muzzle loader video, I gave the idea some serious thought. I have a side by side, and instead of loading the gun with that plug you had, I decided to get those Full length brass 12ga shells that take the large rifle primers. I have a whole field load setup just like what you just showed. I love being able to load my own black powder or pyrodex shells wherever I am. Trail Boss is a good one too. It's awesome to see you doing this. I want to replace my side by side with a Stoeger Condor Outback. It's an over/under with blade style rifle sights. With the 10" cartridge adapters and this shell loading technique, I feel like it would be the one gun to have if you can only have one. 10" .22lr adapter in a 20" smooth bore. Oh my! What would I do with those other 10"? Hmmmmm. Let the imagination loose on that idea. Then a 12ga follow-up shot? I'm looking forward to that build next year.

It's great to have this kind of knowledge. This is the kind of knowledge passed down from grandparents to parents and from parents to children! With the death of my father-in-law, I lost the opportunity to learn and pass it on to my son. A feather! Who knows, maybe I'll get an opportunity at some point in my life? it would be good! Good instruction and good practice! Congratulations on the excellent work you and your school do! To the next!

“What was used as a wad between gunpowder and shot?”’Dave used sheep’s wool. Trapping Supply houses have it for sale. Trappers use it in a “bait” hole to entice predators to dig and “work the trap” ! Dave has other videos that mention the sheep wool.

I JUST posted on "Woodcraft" how you were the realest for talking about firearms usage in the woods. I'm assuming this is from your longhunter course?

Watched my grandad do this... he had a gadget like a gumball machine, for dispensing powder. Had a little hammer attached to get the last dab of powder out of the chute...

Super great info. I always thought the idea would work. I tried it after watching some of your old videos. Works great. I'm going to try it on some game this season. I've got some other ideas on different styles of shot.

Oh yeah, these are fun to load and shoot! Thanks Dave for those past how-to vids you did! For wadding, I've used stinging nettle fiber. Where are you getting your shot? Also, primers becoming available. I noticed the duplex nail, those are handy for alot of stuff! Thanks for sharing, good shootin to ya! Steve

It’s pretty common knowledge that a rifled barrel will increase the spread of a shot shell, would this effect be lessened by not using a shotcup, or would it not really make a difference?

If you had nothing but a candle , do you think you could only use wax to separate the powder from the shot and only a thick layer of wax to seal it in?

One thing you need to mention using that kind of wading they need to be extra careful when hunting in dry conditions it can start a fire
