Please Forgive Me Lyrics:
Please forgive me
If I act a little strange
For I know not what I do
Feels like lightning
Running through my veins
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you
Help me out here
All my words are falling short
And there's so much I want to say
Want to tell you just how good it feels
When you look at me that way, ah
When you look at me that way
Throw a stone
And watch the ripples flow
Moving out across the bay
Like a stone I fall into your eyes
Deep into that mystery, ah
Deep into some mystery
I got half a mind
To scream out loud
I got half a mind to die
So I will never have to
Lose you girl
Won't ever have to say goodbye
I won't ever have to lie
Won't ever have to say goodbye
Whoa I
Whoa I
Whoa I
Please forgive me
If I act a little strange
For I know not what I do
Feels like lightning
Running through my veins
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you
Every time I look at you

when i was young my dad used to play david gray in the car alot. The past ten years he suffered from MND the worst possible disease there is and sadly he passed away a few days before my 21st birthday a few years ago. today on the 19th of december is his birthday and ive only just come across these songs again for the first time since those car rides. in absolute tears right now typing this, i know for sure ill be in the car one day, with my kids in the back listening to these beautiful songs thinking about him.

2/19/24- Yes, watching Scrubs S1 Ep1, J.D. first time on call. I still vividly remember walking in the door of the Cardiac Rehab Clinic my first day as an Exercise Physiology, intern. As soon as I got through the door, the Cardiac Nurse introduced herself and told me to get all the patients' BP, hooked up to ECG telemetry, and start warmup. I froze like a deer in headlights, just like J.D. in rounds and thought, "EVERYONE IS GOING TO DIE!" Right after that thought, I was snapped back to reality by the sound of laughter coming from the room beside me. It was a full setup. Everyone knew I was coming. The nurse blasted me with that one knowing full well that it would paralyze me so she could run in and tell the others in the other room. They were still laughing as they introduced themselves to me. The nurse told me I passed. If I had pretended I knew exactly what to do, that would have been a bad sign. Rule#1: Never Fake It. Thus began the hazing. By the end of my internship, I was runnin'the show and, on the side, made an Excel workbook that crunched metabolic and workout data. That made for much more efficient planning and charting. That show and this song takes me back to all those unforgettable moments.

I heard this song at a pub when I’d taken myself on a trip to think about my marriage. This song came on as soon as I walked in and I knew they tune but didn’t really pay attention to the words but I knew it was speaking to me. So I tried to find it later when I got back to my hotel but couldn’t remember any of the words so only had the tune in my head. So I prayed to God that he’d help me find the name of this song. On the last night of my stay I went back to that pub and I met a girl there who I had a drink with and we talked for ages about our lives and she said she loved music so I hummed her the tune and she said that’s David gray so I looked him up on KZfaq and it was this song! Then I went back to my hotel and really listened to the words and it was as if God led me to this song to give me hope that my marriage would survive. Thank you God and David for writing this beautiful and powerful song. I have hope again

This just produced a memory from 2006. I was in bed during a week or so of depression. My then 7 year-old daughter knocks on the bedroom door. I considered pretending to be asleep as I was ashamed of being seen by her like that. Anyway, I can't remember if I answered but she comes in with drawing of a flower or a tree I think and says she drew it for me. I'm trying not to well up as she tells me she loves me and wraps her arms around my neck while snuggling into me. I tell her I love her too, just about managing to form the words with my eyes brimming. She then climbs off the bed and gently closes the door. I barely hear her tiptoe away. I sobbed at how much my heart ached due to the thought of being less of a father than she deserved! I'm just about holding it together as I write this! 😭

I think those drum fills are pretty complex. In fact, part of what I love so much about this song is the complex and almost manic drums in comparison with apologetic, slower, and simple melody sung by David Gray. It captures the anxiety, the regret, and the excitement. It's painfully sobering all the way through. And it's easily one of my favorite songs.

@@madmanswhispers True, that said the song is pretty simple, especially the parts that David himself as brought and simple is absolutely a compliment in this context as far as I'm concerned, as all of the best songs off this album are really simple and yet they are some of the best songs ever written, I've spent a long time trying to make a simple love song as good as this guy and I have failed at every turn so maybe it isn't so simple after all.

Love the lyric, "feels like lightning runnin through my veins." When you sing @ me that way....Strongest male lyricist I ever heard. Gray is still the best....especially love the musical stanza deep into that mystery...he is so good to listen to, it almost hurts sometimes from the beauty he sings...
