Really appreciated mate, my mom is old and she doesn't speak english but she loves old western classic movies. She has been watching her favorite movies for years without understanding anything but guessing the story base on what happens in the movie. This video helped me to write/edit subs for my mom's favourite movies and she was super surprised and happy about it. Thank you!

1. if you've adjusted the subtitle timing inaccurately and wish to start over you can click "undo" in the edit drop down menu. (the timestamps in the caption list will revert but the timing change you entered in the synchronization popup will still be there for reference). 2. if you adjust the caption timing so that the captions appear later; skip the step where he erases the first line. 3. when you're satisfied with the adjustment you must click save in the "file" drop down menu. also great video. thanks. 😀

Nice video. But there is some subtitle out of sync differently from early, middle or end of sub. For example, i set minutes/seconds for resync... For a few lines early, its good. But the next lines, still has some out of sync.

Instead of trying to calculate the time difference between when a subtitle is scheduled to begin and when the sound actually plays, you can refer to the waveform graphic at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on a spot where the wave begins to increase will allow you to hear what sound plays in that moment, and you can click an option to shift the syncing all subtitles beginning with the point you clicked on.

Wonderful! Thanks! I was successful! But I was quite lost because I didn't know what to do afterwards. After some hard thinking I simply saved that which I have done in SE, and what came out was a rectivied text file, which I then uploded IN youtube into my video. THAT was the trick. It wasn't obvious to me that one is working here only with the text file. At least, that's how I understood it now. Thanks alot, really helpful. Saved me HOURS!!!!

Hey David, thank you so much for this video. I was able to set this up very easily following your tutorial!! I have a problem with editing the subtitles though. As I'm trying to edit the subtitles through the waveform window, the display gets locked at a certain point for some reason and won't show any further. Do you know how to fix this?

Hi - first off I'm learning about and am grateful to you for your Subtitle Edit tutorials and for the editor itself, but I have questions: I have a video I've already used with Subtitle Edit so I have a srt file, but what if I cut out a piece of, or add to, that original video and want to critique the original srt file? So (if clipped) How can I delete some subtitle entries and have the rest of the entries that are to the right move over? And (if adding) How can I "push" the original subtitle entry lines over to add more subtitle entries where the video's been added to? The next question is - is there a way to "grab" the blocks of entries in the audio area and move them in tandum? Thank you in advance for any reply, - Lisa Beaudoin
