I used to think trekking poles were a gimmick, but man do they make a difference when bushwhacking. Great post! Thanks for sharing it.

Staring at the dead trees and broken boulders on those impossibly steep flanks, I wondered what the heck happened to them! But then I remembered: gravity happened to them, just like it happens to the boulders constantly falling off Yosemite's cliffs.

wait a minute... was just up there on saturday sussing out the lower s slope approach were those blue and pink ribbons staked on the hillside you guys???
