Sorry but West Fury is lower than East Fury. Eric Gilbertson, a professor of mechanical engineering at Seattle University, carried a theodolite to the false summit of Luna Peak. He then did a survey of East and West Fury and Luna. Results: East Fury 8,356ft +/-8ft, West Fury 8,305ft +/-10ft, Luna 8,311ft (per USGS survey). See kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hZZ-bNloxtmrnJs.html. West Fury is still a good climb though.

I’m aware of Eric’s surveying. I know him personally. This trip was nearly 4 years ago. We also climbed E Fury on this trip, as you have to go over it to get to West Fury.

That kind of climbing scares me more than Hannold soloing El Cap. Steep grassy slopes, not steep enough for a rope but steep enough if you slip you start falling and can't stop yourself, yikes! 😨

Looks like the dude wearing the Atlas gloves got his money's worth out of that helmet there's a pretty gnarly dent in it s top of it lol nice climb tho.

Impressive. I just want to figure out how to hike to the base when the sun is on the mountains.

Very nice video. What side did you ascend, East or West? You made it up without a rope. Could you have made it back down without it. Was if just quicker to use the rope? Looks like plenty of solid places for hand holds.

Very nice!! Good work. I've climbed Forbidden 3 times, Sahale twice, Torment once, and Eldorado (W Arete) once, and also the Triplets (solo), so I have stared at J-berg many times from 1975 to 1990. Never climbed it though.

Possibly the best (and most sudden) view of Shuksan/Nooksack Cirque to be had. The approach is quite different in late Summer incl. copious quantities of devils club and a maze of slide alder and vine maple. Thanks for rekindling some fond memories, it has been awhile. (1980-ish)

Message for Cole: Hey Cole, you probably won’t remember me but we were neighbors in Enatai. Your folks told me a couple years ago that you were getting in to climbing. After seeing a couple of these videos I’d say you’re getting after it. If you haven’t done it yet, go get J’Burg NE Butt. Shorter approach than Hozomeen. 😂 Please give my regards to your folks. Best, John Sharp

Nice. I’ve done long camping trips to Canyon Lake and it was a real ball buster hike. I can’t imagine doing the traverse. I loved watching this video.

Fletcher-I've been watching your stories for a while. As always, good music selection and nice/realistic way to show people how its done. I think you started venturing down south to escape PNW gloomy winter weather?

North Face 1972 or 1976? We looked at those routes from the approach described in green Fred and bailed for lack of mojo. Went around and climbed the SE Route instead. How did you get to the base?
