I beg your pardon, Lily. My professor of Latin at Highschool spoke more than 30 languages and was fluent in about 6 Slavic languages, among others Russian and Polish. I think he was gifted by nature, as similar stories are known. I should have gone to his Russian classes, which he gave on a voluntary basis, but I had felt to tired at 5 pm after a full school day.

I must check KZfaq for some videos of the latest chaos! 🚗💨🔥 One day I want to be there in person! 🇦🇺 All going well with the studies, thank you. My new approach is saving a lot of time. Bare minimum extra grammatical notes (apart from in the Grammar category), and plenty of speaking practice. I am, however, noting details for every occurrence of a verb of motion this year though. It's very difficult to remember all of the details, but I have a couple of mnemonics which are helpful. I can usually determine on foot versus via transport, and imperfective versus perfective, but I'm having trouble remembering one-direction versus two/multi-direction. 🙈

Сегодня воскресенье ( Иисуса Христа 🙏🙏) Я почти не люблю ПОСМОТРЕТЬ фильмы. В моей городе, я МОГУ слушать музыку с друзьями на улице, но мы не МОЖЕМ курить. Сегодня когда я хотел поехать в магазин, я не СМОГ найти ключи🙈. В детстве я СМОГ получить хорошая образование. У меня отпуск В ИЮЛЕ и я хочу ЛЕТЕТЬ в Рим. Здесь на улице ТЕПЛО. Я знаю, что в России ОЧЕНЬ МНОГО СНЕГА, то есть, ОЧЕНЬ ХОЛОДНО. Займитесь, пожалуйста своим здоровьем, Настя.

Russian verbs of motion are definitely one of the great mysteries of life! 😁 I get that the speaker would say я илу на работу if she's on her way to work at that moment, and that she'd use ходила because she went AND came back home the day before, but is she not expecting to come home tomorrow since she chooses to say пойду? Or do you choose the bidirectional verb only in the past when you already have performed the motion in more than one direction, but not with reference to some future time when the action has yet to be undertaken?

Raphaela! 🙌Завтра я иду на работу. -- В этом предложении глагол «иду» несовершенного вида (что делаю?). Это значит, что она предполагает пойти на работу. Возможно, пойдёт на работу, но может и не пойти. Если бы она сказала, что я «схожу» на работу. Глагол «схожу» совершенного вида (что сделаю?). Это значит, что она точно пойдёт на работу и вернётся обратно.👌

The past two lessons in particular have been very enjoyable as yesterday I understood every word and concept and today I understood almost everything. There was no effort to listen and understand. That doesn't happen every day, so the past two days have given me some encouragement! 🙂 Thank you Nastya. It is because of you that I am improving.

That's great, Lily! It's a big breakthrough moment when things suddenly start to become understandable. I have been trying hard with my listening practice too, and it's great when something suddenly becomes understandable! 😁 I can understand most of what Nastya is saying when she is speaking as she is writing it on the whiteboard, but there are still quite a few words that I don't know yet. Some of the words I can guess from the context, which is okay, but it's an entirely different matter if trying to construct these types of sentences from scratch. With the other podcasts I use for listening practice, I have started to take notes of any frequently-occurring words that I don't know, then try to memorise them. I'm making some good progress with this, but it's quite slow. The other thing I have been doing recently is thinking of things that I would like to say in Russian, then speaking it to Google Translate to see if it understands me. I've made some encouraging progress with this recently! 😄

Who else is like me that after you learned Russian you will be trilingual? I’m happy to tell you from now on, at least one of your language will be encrypted in other peoples ears. Typically if you are living in a non-English speaking country and is where you’re born, you can now speak Russian and rarely will there be somebody who understands, no matter how great their English level are. And if you’re in Russia, your native language will also likely be encrypted in Russian peoples ears.

"Not for your teeth " ... in Australia we have a saying that also means something is too difficult for me/for you/for them/ for him or her. "It's the too hard basket." So you have 2 baskets/trays on your desk. One contains tasks that have been completed. The tasks may have been difficult to achieve, or perhaps they were easy to do. Nevertheless, those completed tasks are classified in the first "basket." The second basket contains lists of tasks that were too difficult to achieve or impossible to complete. It is known as the "Too Hard Basket" (too hard to-do-basket.) So this is a metaphorical in-tray or basket, into which ideas, aspirations, dreams and tasks are metaphorically placed as they are deemed to be extremely difficult to do or even taboo. It can also be spoken of in regards to people with a difficult personality. "We put him in the too hard basket, as he's too difficult to handle." 😒 Rick suggested another saying: "You bit off more than you can chew." Once again, something that is too difficult -a big task or problem that's beyond your capabilities. Another expression with a 🦷theme. 😁
