моя сегодняшняя короткая история: - Я боюсь его Игорь!! его семья очень влиятельная и богатая, его мать ненавидит меня... я уверена, что он попытается отобрать у меня свою дочь... - он когда-нибудь тебе угрожал? - спросила Игорь, с серьёзным вращением на лице - да - сказала она, и снова заплакала...

I am wondering how is "fingers crossed" expressed in Russian? Thank you for kind attention.

I'm not sure that idiom exists in Russian, in that way. Maybe "чтобы не сглазить " which means not to jinx or hex something, or how in English we say " touch wood". Just a suggestion, hope it helps. 😊

Спасибо за урок, Настя! 😊👍 I'm confused (yet again) trying to understand the grammar of a couple of sentences! Could anyone possibly clarify these for me? At 19:23: У меня важная встреча. (I have an important meeting.) Why is 'важная встреча' in nominative? Time and time again I come across variations of this situation and never understand, nor am able to look up a suitable explanation. Why is it not in genitive case to comply with 'у меня'? I have a meeting = I possess a meeting (genitive). Or why isn't it in accusative case? Answering the question 'what?' I have what? Answer: I have a meeting (accusative). Thinking about this in English, both of those options make sense to me, but apparently neither is correct if nominative is being used. Nominative makes no sense to me in this instance unfortunately. 🤔 At 24:36: Я его боюсь. (I'm afraid of him.) What case is 'его' here? Is it in genitive? It's either genitive or accusative, according to Wiktionary. It says genitive for 'of him', which of course fits, but I'm not entirely sure it's the same usage for 'of him'. I'm thinking perhaps Wiktionary is saying 'of him' in the sense of possession, for example 'the car of him' = his car = possession = genitive. Or is 'его' in accusative here for some other reason? I have searched online for other suitable explanatory examples and couldn't find anything. 🤔

@@lilyrose4191 I'm glad it's not just me then! 😄 I always feel a bit of a nuisance in here, asking these types of questions frequently. It makes me wonder if I'm the only student who has these types of questions. Anyway, I'm glad you're also confused! 😄 Eventually we will learn all of this!

@@TheRealMick "I'm glad you're also confused!" 😀 Ah Mick, I needed that chuckle today - I've managed to please someone by being confused - that's fabulous! lol ! Please don't feel bad about asking these type of questions. You words describe my puzzlement precisely. Especially the first question and why isn't it Accusative? I think when I do find out the answer, it will help me to remember the reason why for future similar sentences as I've puzzled over it ! Thank you so much for asking "Why is it so?" Yes, hopefully we will learn it all eventually ! 😀 Best of luck with it friend!

@@lilyrose4191 Thanks Lily! 😀👍 I spend a lot of time in Wiktionary whilst completing these lessons and most of the time I can work out which case is being used. Sometimes, however, there is more than one option that seems to fit. I then end up on Google, searching for similar explanatory examples and quite a number of times I can't find anything at all. Based upon the lack of available information it seems that I'm the only person in the world who has ever wanted to find out these particular things! This often occurs for me with other information quests, so I think I'm probably faulty and need repairing. 😄 Best wishes!

@@TheRealMick Here's some Good News! 😀 You're not the only person in the world who ever wanted to find out these things! I know exactly what you mean and I have researched and I'm still puzzled. It's as if the Russian language is gaslighting me !!! Maybe it is! Maybe there's no definite answer and Russian's simply "fudge" bits of it, lol. Actually, I'm only half joking! Until I receive a definite clarification, I'm inclined to believe something shifty is going on. It certainly keeps things interesting! Best of luck with the mystery! 🙂
