But…in the 1970s, there was *only* Magic Kingdom! You'd rather go back to a time when there was no Epcot, no Animal Kingdom, and no Hollywood Studios?
@cayoooga
@cayoooga 20 күн бұрын
@@CritterKeeper01 Yes, I would. EPCOT was not Walt's vision. Disney just made another theme park instead of the city Walt promised. Back in the 1970's it was a beautiful pristine property and it was better maintained. It was also less crowded and more affordable. Maybe there wasn't as much, but it was more enjoyable with less effort than it is today.

Wow... I've honestly NEVER felt my AGE (aka OLD) until watching this video! What a trip down memory lane, for REALZ! We've never stayed at Pop Century and unlikely we ever will. But AS a child born in the 60's, teen of the 70's, young adult of the 80's, and grad student/work force entry level 90's gal, I don't need to "re-visit/re-live" ANY of those decades as I LIVED them! (And I have NO desire to return the nostalgia &/or restrictive 50's!) I PLAYED with the playdoh, hot wheels, etc.; listened/danced to disco, played 8 tracks AND cassettes through the 70's and 80's; and had that SAME music player; came of age in the BEST music era EVER; and nearly fell off my chair when you showcased/explained the "floppy disks" because not only do I literally HAVE OLD ones in my closet, I have the ORIGINAL 3x5 ACTUAL FLOPPY disks, of which the later 2x4 "hard" disks took on the name! Yes, I DID learn how to use PC's in their infancy! Most of the time I do not FEEL "old". But this video certainly emphasized that I have lived a LONG time... God willing, I'll live a lot longer! Thanks for the memory trip, Chris!

Here's a cool hotel idea...like the Decades have one with all of the International Disney locations. So each would be the design aesthetic from that location and sell items from those locations too, like Paris Minnie or Hong Kong Duffy. Majority of Disney fans will never get a chance to visit those destinations but they could bring it to the resort.

I was born in ‘68, so I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, with my teen years being in the 80’s. The 80’s were a great decade, and the decade I’d like to revisit. Pretty much every genre of music and movies were great. Concerts were affordable, and most of the modern conveniences that we enjoy today existed then as well. It was the last decade without the internet, which required us to be social in person, and that was a good thing IMHO. I feel bad for later generations, who missed out on how that was so much better than the social media experience.

I would pick 50’s or 80’s. I was born 1957, but the 80’s looking back was the best decade. Music was just fun and ranged from disco to hard rock to rap to “glamour bands” and it generally fun because it was the start of MTV. it was the birth or cable back when there were no ads and cost maybe $10 a month. The best decade for movies with the start of CGI effects, and they were just fun. It was also the start of Apple (Mac) and other tech companies and home computers. The space shuttle and station. And of course EPCOT! But overall it was a decade of great progress and generally more of fun and optimism (as the 50’s were) that we have seen since.

Fun Fact: ...perhaps one of the reasons that Mickey Phone was chosen for the 1970s area.. is Disney Studios didn't really emphasize animation during that decade...focusing more on cheaper, corny, live action, "Dean Jones" style... Family films -releasing up to 5 or 6 a year...Herbie the Love Bug rides again ...Gus the Mule...The Boatniks...The Shaggy D.A....The World's Greatest Athlete...Witch Mountain...The Black Hole...ect. ect....some notable animated exceptions ..Bedknobs and Broomsticks...Robin Hood...The Rescuers...The Aristocats...

I was born and hurt a lot in the 50’s (emotionally, later physically). Grew up in the 60’s, married in the 70’s, had my son in 1999. Tough choice!

I said the 1990’s out loud in the beginning of the video because even though I was born in the 80’s I did a lot of growing and experiencing new adventures as I got to be double digits in the 90’s. So 90’s for me please!! Awesome videos Chris you are doing a great job!

I would choose the 60’s. I feel like it was a huge turning point for the country going from more wholesome to edgy and I would like to witness that. Also can’t go wrong with The Beach Boys!! 😄

1980s for going back to. Music-wise, it's more challenging, because I like music that go as far back as the early 1900s.

At Pop Century, there is a 24/7 drinks machine at the Hippy Dippy Pool, at the back of the Petals Bar, so you can refill your refillable drinks mug even when the food court is closed. I wish all the resorts had this feature.

1970's. Born in 1977, so never got to "experience" it. But just think of going to the premier of STAR WARS. Nuff said.

We had a caravan of like 5 going from NC to Florida and all of them had CB radios. We had a game board set up in the Winnebago. We played trivial pursuit using the CB and one person would move and put stuff in the pieces. It was a cool experience. This was in the early eighties I think.

I was a kid in the 70’s, and it was such a simpler time that I loved, but I think I would really have liked to grow up or live through the 50’s. Great music, great looking cars, and I think family values were stressed a lot more!

Must be a cis straight white male. Otherwise, I would definitely not recommend the 1950s! I much prefer here and now, when we have all the best music, movies, shows, and books from *all* the past decades, but have discarded the separate drinking fountains and the bigotry is frowned upon instead of legal and boasted about!
