Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

"What about the smell? Kinda smells like money." I grew up in Houston and my family all lived in Texas City. The smell of the refineries could be overwhelming at times, but when you asked my grandfather what he thought of it he said, "Smells like biscuits and gravy." Those refineries were how he fed his family and he was proud to work there.

Ok off topic completely to today's video...can I just tell you that throughout the pandemic, anytime I felt hopeless or sad or just needed to feel better, I would pull up one of your videos. Kara your laugh is infectious, yours and Nate's positive outlook, even if things aren't going right (cuz that's reality and balance), is uplifting and encouraging. Nate's sheer determination to push boundaries and limits it's inspiring and energizing. I love your familiar voices, doing fun and bold new things, no matter how big or small, is just a shot in the arm when I need it. So, THANK YOU for doing what you do....I don't know if you can possibly imagine the positive and life line type affect you have on others, but you do and it's so very much appreciated. I know it can be hard at times, but I hope it's equally rewarding as well.

Yeah even when they complain, it's only because something annoying or bad happened that anyone would complain about. I don't see why people say "don't complain, this is the life you want! You signed up for this!" Yeah they did choose this life, and they're very fortunate, but being privileged enough to travel full time doesn't make annoyances or dangers any less of an issue. Kara and Nate do a good job of showing the reality of full time travel (including the complain-y bits) without being divas. Most of the time. They can be divas about plane travel lol

I live in Louisiana and its so funny how you thought that plate of crawfish was big its small to me 😂 also I feel like people never get to see the work that goes into farming them so this is great! Ps. My pet crawfish Curtis says hi!

Kara, your editing skills are seriously professional grade now. You two are my favorite youtubers.. you're just genuinly happy, enjoying life and I think that's a wonderful thing to not only experience, but to share with others such as myself.. I feel like I'm going to places with you as you guys travel and take us along! Kinda cool knowing that people that are from only a few hours away from me (im in Hixson/Chatt) are literally living the DREAM. So happy for you both and wish you many more happy years!

For anyone who has not had crawfish, they are anatomically the same as a lobster in terms of eating them. That means the meat is mainly in the tail with some in the claws. No meat in the body of the crawfish. Also, they are >craw < fish and not crayfish or mud bugs. Hint: If the cooked crawfish's tail is not curled that means it was dead when it went into the boiling water. I don't eat those.

Fun Fact...Boudin is a French delicacy, and if you translate it PERFECTLY to English....it's blood pudding, or blood sausage! ;) They probably kept the French since people have no idea what it means, and didn't want people to NOT order it....it's absolutely delicious.

@@kaceycole1174 Not gonna lie, that humidity has me a little worried LOL We get 110 degree weather in the summer, but rarely get above 45% humidity here. My husband keeps trying to find a sweet spot that won't be too bad for tornados or hurricanes; so any input is appreciated!

Coloradans are going to hate me for this 😅 and it's not considered the south but the Denver area climate is dry heat, little humidity and hot summers. Denver has mild winters compared to the Northeast (NY) where I'm from. Like the city doesn't have plows lol. When everyone thinks of Colorado they think of mountains and snow. There's a lot of that too in the mountain range. Denver is a desert climate. Look up the weather. It's getting crowded. Everyone's moving to CO. I recently moved out and that's one thing I don't miss. But for good reason, it's an undeniably BEAUTIFUL state. Sorry this is a long winded way of saying, Denver, CO may have the weather you're looking for ☺️.
