I can relate to this video as I work exactly in the same building and almost similar routine. I wanted to highlight our on campus yoga, meditation 🧘‍♂️ room and treadmill desk as they include in my daily routine. Also our live pizza oven 😋 at Data diner. Workday is fun to work with, all people out there are brilliant guys and some are crazy talented , I get inspired when i see people are developing some cool features even when no one asked them to do so, All this speaks passion for technology and love for work. Missing all office fun during this lockdown and watching this video just by chance ...

You write application with XpressO. Your value will go up inside the company but your job market value will not. Workday values application developers and you guys will get more perks. Usually I recommend the software development engineer route as you will have the opportunity to implement frontend and backend of XpressO with java, scala, or golang.

Your office looks fabulous but I have some serious concerns about the work day app and how it's set up by various HR teams often they are not technically proficient at all-so all the available widgets that can be put on a let's say a mobile app for work are not available to me and makes scheduling my time very complicated. My workday app is linked through Microsoft but it doesn't even have the Microsoft calendar in the app so I don't even know what my schedule is for the upcoming week for work! If I hadn't accessed my work day site at a regular computer I would have missed that they changed the schedule and I was due to come in and I would have missed work without even so much as an email notifying me of any changes! The app I'm sure has tremendous potential but depending on the skill level of the HR administrators setting it up it can become a bondoogle of confusion! Maybe you can share with your teams how they can very clearly explain the app to various clients that are using it and how to set it up so that it is user-friendly for employees and accessible for all information and the various widgets that can potentially be put on there especially for mobile!!

what’s the difference between application developer and software engineer and product manager, and how can i learn to do something similar without a degree in it?
@BrandonEng
@BrandonEng 3 жыл бұрын
Good question! So application developers at Workday build the Workday products that they provide. Software engineer is the typical term used for people who write code in industry. Product managers are people who try to come up with solutions to common use cases and customer asks! I think the best way to get started, is to create your own side projects and test out to see which role you like more! The side that comes up with the solution ideas and does market and user research; Or the side that builds the application that user will interact with and use

Coding with Beng When you say application developers work on the applications of workday, and that software engineers write code in the industry, you didn’t mention if application developers use code? Do you use code? If not, then what exactly do you do that makes it a different title than software engineer
@BrandonEng
@BrandonEng 3 жыл бұрын
@@TechVHD Ah sorry! I misunderstood! What I meant is that "Software Engineer" is more of a catch-all term for people who code, regardless of what kind of coding that you're doing. However at Workday, when you're an application engineer, you're working on code that builds the products that Workday sells to customers. If you're not an application engineer, but you're a software engineer at Workday, you might be working code to build internal tool software (that isn't used by customers but used by people internal to Workday). So yes, application engineers and software engineers at Workday both "code" but the name just helps distinguishes what they're working on a little bit. I hope that answers your question!
