I find it hard to watch that video without shedding a tear. It's quite lovely how they worked his funeral into it. RIP.

I being from Hawaii, IZ is our Michael Jackson or Elvis. Every time I hear him I get teary eyed, if not cry, and I get chicken skin. Chicken skin is what we call goose bumps. At my step sister funeral we played White Sandy Beach, which was her favorite song, sung by Bruddah IZ. He’s been gone for 25 years and he still my all time Hawaiian favorite. Like you stated, his voice has something that draws you in. Actually he touches your soul.

Being an Older listener of course I've heard Judy Garland's masterpiece but my husband and I both love this rendition even the fact he pieced "A Wonderful Life " in to it and entwined it, magical!!

'Really sweet medley. This cat was a much loved performer in Hawaii. Lots and lots of soul. I won't let these two versions fight for position - they're both just too nice. Once again, Angela, thanks for bringing something special our way.

Ironically my wife and I discovered this right after our daughter passed away. So it is incredibly sweet and sour for us. It is beautiful

This version always brings a tear to my eye. IZ's version seems more bittersweet, even with the video showing his funeral. My heart sinks whenever I hear this song, knowing he is no longer with us. There is not much in this world that can get this battle-hardened soldier to cry, this is one of them.

Hi Angela, did you know that IZ (Israel) passed away in 1997 and in the video you saw there is a tribute to his legacy? At the end there are images of his funeral and the beautiful act of delivery of his ashes to the sea surrounded by his family, friends and admirers. God blessed us with her beautiful voice and her love. Now he sings to our Lord. Hola Angela, sabias que IZ (Israel) falleció en 1997 y en el vídeo que vistes se rinde homenaje a su legado? Done in ONE TAKE! Just Isreal and his Ukulele. He asked to Come into a Studio in the Middle of the Night and Recorded it with No planned rehearsals and no Auto-tune. You should do Isreal's "Johnny Mahone". RIP, Isreal!

new subscriber....you listen to a song and can separate lyrics, instrumentals, voice and empathy, all at once. I watched a few of your videos that really touched your heart. You are the audience a musician hopes to play for. sometimes empathy is a burden, yours is a gift. I have a feeling you did not watch the video but just listened. I am 76 and not from Hawaii but cant help but tear up when I watch....Izzy was amazing.

Different song from the Judy garland song covered by numerous traditional singers both female and male. This version is unique so I’m thumbs up for traditional version and this unique arrangement. Depends on my mood.

You gave it your best shot. In Hawaiian we pronounce our W’s as V’s. Just Substitute those letters and you got it. Here though we just call him Brudda IZ. Haven’t listened to your reaction yet to the song but it’s the best version by far. 9 out of 10 people can’t be wrong. Aloha!
