When you're watching a foreign TV show and it goes wrong...
What would learning a language be like if it were a Hollywood movie?
Lamont, Captain Sinbad and Joakim find out.
Much of this film makes no sense. I bet you can't spot as many errors as I can!
Huge thanks to CAPTAIN SINBAD for lending his smooth American vocal cords to this video:

Also stort tack to Joakim from SAY IT IN SWEDISH:

Language learning videos, tips and techniques!
• How To Learn Languages
Alfonso Cuaron is one of my favorite directors, because of the skill with which he handled Gravity. I am not a proper filmmaker but what I know about is language learning, so this is my tribute to Cuaron and a language learning movie at the same time. Films like Gravity are not about space or rockets, but about humans and the struggle to do what we need to. Language learning by immersion, or language learning in general is hard, like the task Dr Stone is faced with in Gravity. In order to learn a language immersing, you will need courage and determination. Movies like Gravity by spanish speaking Alfonso Cuaron, inspire that courage. Gravity language learning is also an analogy I have used before. Native language Gravity is very strong. Can you learn by immersion? You certainly can learn a language that way. Can you learn a language asleep? Probably a not. Can you learn a language in a year? Maybe if you put in 8 hours a day. Can you learn a language in a month? Definitely not, even at 12 hours a day. But you can learn a language by immersion, you and you can learn a language by listening to it. That is what this language learning film is about.

Thanks. I am already roughly planning the script for another, but understand that they are expensive. I mean in terms of materials, none of this broke the bank (although it added up more than I realised) but it took basically 4 solid weeks of work. At even a modest estimate of $80 AU a day, that's like $2000. I obviously don't think about financially like that (no video of mine has ever made that much so I wouldn't do it if I was being fiscal about it) but yeah, I can't exactly make two of these a month and keep feeding my family haha.

OMGIVEN - LAMONT FAST I SVENSKA-TRÄSKET - en dokumentär från Australien, snart på SVT 😆 I’m laughing so hard. This must have taken a shitload of time to create. Absolutely brilliant metaphor about the language learning process and when IT happens. There are many other fun layers here that might be obvious to a Swede which makes it even more fab. This is an example of the twisted humour popular in Sweden. And to non Swedish speakers, this guy sure sounds immersed in Swedish. Impressive level considering he’s never been able to be surrounded by Swedish 24/7 in Sweden. I have to check out the Swedish partners in crime because I honestly have no idea who they are haha

Hej, tack så mycket! It did take ages, mainly to plan and to build the set (there is no computer effects at all except the readings on the inside of the glasses, so the room really was completely blacked out) - the filming didn't take long and the editing was, ok, long but not considering how many layers and stuff were there. Mainly the script and working out what shots were needed was hard. Anyway - what do you mean my Swedish partners in crime? Like you mean the voice of Svenska at the end? That's Joakim from Say It in Swedish... or do you mean the people who taught me Swedish?

I know that doing a production on a low budget means that almost all work is done alone. It makes me happy to see that work being reflected in the product, it looks really slick and it is pretty exciting to watch. For me personally knowing how you did it is not very interesting. But I could see how other people with less knowledge of editing, scriptwriting and camerawork would be very interested. Anyway, that was a long way of saying, I ment the last. Wow. Because everything you make is good I expected it to be good but even with my raised expectations I was blown away. I legitimately want to show this to anyone who might have even a little interest in the topic.

@@daysandwords noooo, thank you sir! You (and Matt!) have saved me so much time. I'm accidentally learning grammatical structure and verb conjugations through immersion. My comprehension has increased dramatically since I just started trusting my brain and listening instead of trying to speak. Love your channel, I cannot thank you enough for sharing your knowledge and resources. Muito obrigada!

@@daysandwords I often don't read the descriptions, but something caught my eye and read it this time. And considering I also noticed the spinning light, perhaps I spend too much time on noticing details, and not listening to my German lessons(which I'm going back and forth on right now).
