I have attended therapy on and off for 35 years. No therapist ever discussed these tools- which seem like common sense, neutrality, and logic. The way it is expressed can lead, guide and not shut down the emotions of the wounded inner child. It teaches compassion and integration in it's approach. The last 5 years of mindfulness has been helpful, now I can add these in my toolbox. Ty!

Some talk therapy is like plucking leaves off a tree. It is slow and the leaves come back. Acceptance is like pulling the whole tree out roots and all by letting go. Much faster!

I can partly understand these concepts. I’ve been in pain and created suffering virtually my entire young life. I realize I must surrender to heal. I’m struggling to learn and practice acceptance. I desire to change. I gave up 2 addictions, (8 days sober) but I’m still struggling.

I believe in acceptance as well, and the idea of resignation needed to be stated. While there is acceptance, however, even though you can't control the situation/the person/the bodily pain, it is helpful to seek support or experts as they may have better control of the problem. If not now, then soon. For instance, I need to accept someone for who they are instead of constantly thinking they are going to change. If I accept them for who they are, then I could realize it (accept it) and seek support and help. So goals can be made in acceptance. Having a purpose.

It’s so hard to accept emotions. I end up being angry 😤 that the world is unfair. My life has been like a hamster on a wheel. Lots of effort and exhaustion but no results. But I’m supposed to remain stoic. I’m broken instead and hardly able to handle those emotions because my home environment is not good for me but I have nowhere to go…and still I’m supposed to just keep accepting how others treat me because I must live here. Except I cannot accept the treatment at home and I end up standing up for myself and getting really upset because I just can’t handle People letting me down and disrespecting me

I really appreciate your videos - the clarity and helpfulness of the messages. But in this video, I was feeling very uncomfortable with the portrayal of negative emotions and arisings as people of color. I understand the intention behind the illustration. But our society is so steeped in racism and images of people of color as violent, bad, inferior, criminal, etc. that I think it sends a hurtful message. I would love to see the negative portrayed differently. Maybe not as people but as other forms, or if people, maybe dressed in dark colors or inside a dark cloud. Just some ideas and honest feedback. Thank you.

I don’t understand the concept of acceptance and how it’s any different from resigning. Like I can’t do anything about this and people just say to let it go. You’re just saying words and telling me what to feel when I don’t know HOW to feel that emotion
@SelfHelpToons8 ай бұрын
Acceptance and resignation are distinct psychological states that involve different attitudes toward circumstances. Acceptance reflects a willingness to embrace or acknowledge a situation, often accompanied by a positive mindset and a commitment to adapt. It implies a sense of understanding and a readiness to confront challenges constructively. On the other hand, resignation conveys a more passive stance, suggesting a surrender or giving in to a situation without necessarily finding a resolution. Resignation may involve a sense of defeat or a lack of motivation to actively engage with the circumstances. While acceptance fosters growth and adaptability, resignation tends to imply a certain level of disengagement or acceptance without active participation in shaping our experience.
