I'm kinda sad that Toriyama simplified the armor design for Saiyans in Super. Miss the vibrant, distinct colors in Z era. (Not that time when they drew every saiyan in the exact same outfit as Raditz because he was the only saiyan design at the moment lmao)

Z-Bardock slaps. He has character and his look made him. He went through a horde of Freezas henchmen. He knew Freeza was out of his league and still tried his best to save the Saiyans. Even when he went Super Saiyan he still wrecked. Bardock-Super….imo felt like a movie on Hallmark Channel.

Tbh,Z Bardock is my favorite character in dragon ball,the way that he’s such a tragic character,knowing his fate and the fate of all the saiyans but still trying to stop it really resonated with me, hope they could try to fit it in Super

I still kinda prefer Z Bardock. He really showed that the Saiyans were not good people and were to put it mildly, dicks but he was a badass. I think changing Bardock to be more soft and marketable was a mistake.

Z bardock. In the movies he was the epitome of a one man army

They're completely different! The OG Bardock from DBZ is much more serious, violent, blood-thirsty and he is a "typical Saiyan" that doesn't know his family outside of fighting alongside them on missions. 'Super Bardock' knows his family and is a good guy...and is actually 'Lower Class' whereas DBZ version is closer to 'Elite-Class' you can tell by their conversation. Oh yeah did I mention one is a brilliant scientist? The other is just a soldier.

DBZ has a lot of spin off potential. Like why not a mini series of Bardock’s Youth and early squad days with the rise of the Cold Empire? Or a continuation of where Bardock gets sent back in time?

I'm a huge Metal Gear fan so Z Bardock's design is far superior with his bandana imo. Also the more vibrant colors of his armor was cooler than his Super counterpart, in Super he just looks like a Goku like saiyan, kinda disappointing.

Which one is my favorite? Well one had a small movie dedicated to him to show he was almost as bad as most other saiyans and yet was someone special who tried to save his world while being haunted by the vision of its destruction and still died in peace thanks to the vision of his son facing the tyrant responsible for all of this… The other is an unnecessary retcon from a much better movie who’s only quality was the touching scene where he sent of his son Superman style… oh and he had a wife which was a much more needed addition than his retcon cameo. My vote goes to the OG but people can prefer the new one.

I mean we have more source material for z bardock so he has a leg up but what I like most about him is how he reacted to his crew dying. That said it makes even more sense considering the granola arc and how super portrayed him as being of a different mind from other sayians. I like z more but super was dope too

Bardock from Z technically achieved the SSJ Form which eventually led to Frieza’s knowledge about said form in the original timeline, and the bandana and the fact that he was a more menacing character in the Z series, making him my all-time favorite Dragon Ball character with Future Trunks (DBZ) in second 😎👍

I’d say Z strictly because of the design but I do like Super Bardocks story a little bit more because it gave a little bit more lore in my opinion to who Goku’s parents was

I prefer Z Bardock’s Design and His Alternate version in Heroes and Xenoverse, but I like Super Bardock because for me he is slightly more fleshed out as a character

(He’s my favorite character)! 🤯 Also a really great idea (IMO) would be to bring Bardock back alive somehow and have him as a side character helping occasionally! It would entertain millions of fans around the world, it’s the best anime (the entire series) in the world, make them millions of dollars, and some of the best work they have ever done! 😡😤

The original Z Bardock is actually unique and fits with Goku being an outcast, and the narrative he is of an evil people, which creates a contrast and adversity. This newer version is an abomination, and is just another cookie cutter Superman/Moses origin story, we've seen done millions of times. Completely removes Goku being unwanted and takes away the adversity. I really loved the origin story of Goku from Z, its very inspiring he came from parents and people who hated him to a legend.

Well what’s really different was that the DBS Bardock actually gave a shit about Goku, DBZ bardock regardless gave 0 shits about him, and judged him bc of his power level. Despite him having feelings for his comrades.

Honestly, i like Z bardock alot more. Hes more coldblooded, like any other saiyan, had some really badass armor, and i feel his design also felt more rugged, as it should. Super bardock... he feels rather bland, and trying to make him “good” was a huge mistake, no matter what he does, he will always be part of a bloodthirsty, battle hungry, cold blooded warrior race.

Imagine that bardock and his crew actually made an escape right before the planet blew up and he’s actually just lost in space or on a planet with broken down ships

I actually kind of have a theory on why they're different that I'm in the process of developing, if I remember correctly in the Bardock movie his visions only showed him Goku's battle with Frieza as far as like the furthest battle at that point. But what if he only saw that battle and not cell or anyone else because Goku died, what if the original bardack was from the future trunks timeline, when Frieza hit him with the death beam he was sent to the main timeline far in the past and his actions they're altered time just enough so that events changed creating the newer Bardock from Super. I know the theory has a lot of holes but I just thought it was neat and I haven't done the research to flesh it out yet

I like Z bardock only cause in the end he realized what the saiyan race had become and also cause in his last moments he saw gokus whole future flash before his eyes and that makes his death at the hands of freiza more powerful knowing that his son a low born saiyan will avenge his race.

I actually kinda prefer super bardock. It makes Goku’s journey more thematic. I love the idea that bardock sent him off world because of Freeza. In a way, Freeza sort of caused the super saiyan to appear. I find that more appealing than “random saiyan gets sent to random planet and eventually becomes a super saiyan.”

Hate to break it to ya, but the Bardock DLC is just a retelling of the original movie where he made his debut, which is a damn shame in my honest opinion; I was hoping for a blend of the 2 stories in one cohesive narrative.

Ever since seeing DBS Bardock, I've started seeing DBZ Bardock's story as something of a broad strokes situation with how it ties with his Super incarnation.

I’m absolutely confused by the people who think bardock being a better person morally and being a bit more heroic in Super makes no sense “cause he’s a saiyan” HES GOKU’S DAD?! Like goku is a saiyan but he isn’t murderous like even Vegeta changed(you can see it in his manga appearance/flashback in the gas/Grahnola arc as he questions himself why he feels the need to save them). He’s built to be naturally kinder because he’s the father of the most pure hearted character(the devil man beam evidence). If they made him just as murdery it would have been fine but he’s now a badass slightly morally responsible guy. He feels like he’s actually related to goku, because in my opinion the aggression and murder energy he has in the bardock special makes him feel a Little disconnected from goku(even in the super manga he’s still killed a lot of people but when he sees a child in danger he feels guilt probably cause he is a parent himself). Super bardock’s morality makes him feel closer to his son in many more ways, to me aggressive bardock is only goku’s father because he looks like him and the story says so, DBS Bardock feels like goku’s father TL:DR cause it’s long Him being nicer isnt bad and makes him feel more like goku’s dad in my opinion.

I like super bardock. At least in the movie it showed him and gone putting goku into the space pod sending him away to a safe place BEFORE freiza blew up the planet. In z, it didn’t show bardock do any of that.

bardock wasn't different from the saiyans but when he is different when he is with gine and when kakarot was born he saved him by sending him to earth the z bardock was different but he actually knew that frieza was planning on destroying the saiyans because dodoria killed his squad and when he spared dodoria and went straight to planet vegeta he had his foresight ability and when went to check on kakarot they told him he was already sent to earth and the moment he died alongside the planet vegeta was the same moment that gohan found kakarot

I miss evil Bardock. Turning him into a sympathetic character kinda cheapens him. Bardock turning good for the last couple days of his life after spending his life killing planets for the cold empire. He doesn't have to Jor-El.

Definitely Dbs bardock. I feel like the reason I absolutely love both Is that one, DBZ bardock only has that one special but it's nostalgic so I absolutely love it. And two, Dbs is more favored because not only does he have a manga version of the DBZ bardock, he also has more in depth character conversations, like in the granolah arc and him briefly talking to gine about saving kakarot

I just dont like that they're implying that Bardock was a good person actually. Saving Goku, saving granola and wishing for his sons to thrive. It implies that Goku is a good person because of his parents which is not really the case, he hit his head. I dont understand why chnage stuff for the sake of changing it. In the Broly movie they decided to send goku off plane wearing saiyan armor...why?? Makes no sense, he shows up on earth naked and the armor was never once mentioned or shown. Goku wa snaled in the incubator, did Bardock dress his son before sending him off??
